Ok, but would not choose this hotel again

Good bed, good shower, right in the center

Breakfast, noise from street, no convenient overnight parking if you have a car, restaurant staff was quite rude when we asked if we could eat there (they said they offer a restaurant discount to balance inconvenience from hotel works), smell in the hallway.

Nice experience

I stayed for two days at Hotel California and overall the experience was positive. Among the main positive aspects, I would highlight the cleanliness, the central location which makes it easy to explore Zurich city center on foot, and the warm and comfortable room. The staff was polite and helpful, and the bed was very comfortable, all of which contributed to a pleasant stay.

The only negative aspect concerns the check-in process. The hotel asked us in advance for our arrival time, and I had informed them that we would arrive at 6:00 a.m. However, upon arrival, the security guard did not allow us to enter because the entrance opened at 6:30 a.m., forcing us to wait outside. Clearer and more efficient communication regarding access times would have been appreciated. Overall, the hotel is recommended for its location and comfort, but there is room for improvement in the management of information related to access hours.

Breakfast was definitely not good. Not too many options, no fresh vegetables, one kind of cheese in a cheese country was disapponting. I dont recommend including the breakfast when booking the hotel.

Short but sweet!

We loved the theme and the Old Town location, as well as the staff who were welcoming and super helpful.

A new lift was being fitted so a bit noisy in the morning. This couldn’t be helped and the staff were apologetic.

Great vibey option that is great value for money and really well located.

Perfect location. We stayed just for one night in transit and it was everything we needed. Fun vibe and excellent location for exploring central Zurich. Cute boutique shops close by. Great restaurants. Staff were so friendly and helpful.

Has slightly backpacker vibes but the room was quite spacious and actually quiet. We stayed with our 6 year old and it was great.

I love the name, Hotel California! Especially since we are from California!!! Close enough to the train station, centrally located, easy access to other trams and transportation!

The stairs to the property are a little bit of a turn off. The only way you get access to the elevator is through the restaurant, only when they’re open apparently…. A little strange, but that’s OK we adapted

We loved it!

The room was super clean, spacious and comfortable for four persons. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was ideal especially if you don’t have a car.

The sofa and the sofa pillows weren’t very comfortable and the first night the room was slightly cold.

Weekend break for Christmas Markets

Everything. The location is excellent, partial view of the river from our room, the communication from the hotel prior to and throughout our stay was excellent. Clear, concise information relating to our check in which was late due to a delay with our flights. Our room was a great size with a large, exceptionally comfortable bed. We asked for more pillows for our second night and they were supplied immediately. Well appointed full bathroom with a deep bath, the shower has excellent water pressure and there was lots of hot water. The restaurant is quirky, with great food and fantastic service. The included breakfast is tasty and well stocked.

We only had one mild complaint about the number of pillows this was immediately rectified when requested. Fantastic service

Wish there was a queen bed or at least the 2 matresses on the double bed didn't separate so easily, creating a tunnel to fall into. Other than that, everything was pretty fair.

Hotel California: we checked out, but couldn't leave. The front door was Locked!

The location and room were very good! The staff was friendly.

We were charged a tax when we arrived and told we wouldn't receive transportation vouchers as we had at every hotel throughout Switzerland. The address given by Booking.com was incorrect, so it took 45 minutes to find the hotel once we got the correct address. When we were leaving at 6:15 a.m., we found the front door locked, and we couldn't leave the hotel. There were no staff to assist, and the person we called on the emergency number was of no help. Fortunately, the cleaning lady was coming to work, and she punched in the code to open the door. Had she not arrived when she did, we would have missed our UBER and our flight home. Had a fire occurred, patrons would have been trapped in the hotel and most likely died. This was a VERY DANGEROUS situation!! It was truly Hotel California; we could check out anytime we wanted but couldn't ever leave!! We will tell this story over and over and dissuade others from staying there.

Very disappointing and not worth the money. The hotel lacks facilities, and the front desk staff were unhelpful and unfriendly. There is no cleaning service, I didn't feel like we were in hotel.

It was in a great location. It was clean. Very comfortable. The staff was wonderful. Jose who works there is excellent! José was so very helpful and knowledgeable and just a friendly guy! You need to keep him for sure and give him a raise :-)!

The location was great, close to central Zürich. Staff was really helpful e.g. they gave us an extra towel after requesting it.

The key system was a bit outdated, but still functional and easy to understand.

Very narrow room for 2 adultsand2 kids. No space for baggage in the room. No air conditioning. No fan at least and we were asked to open the windows. But the surroundings of the hotel are full of Marijuana smokers. So, the smoke was coming into the room when windows are open. It was a bad night. Breakfast was also horrible. No electronic key system. It's a metal key to open and lock the door. You need to go to 1st floor to key-in to get another key for street door. I'm really surprised which era these people are living in. Horrible experience with everything.

Lousy miserable place. If you want to sleep, avoid this place

This hotel gave me a room that was right next to their reception desk and in between their key hooks. Nothing but continual noise!!!Also located right over a noisy bar and restaurant. If a hotel is to provide you a place to sleep, this hotel failed miserably. I asked for another room but the clerk said they were full even though the “ vacancy” sign was brightly lit at the entrance. She lied!!! No hotel with any conscience about their guests would have rented this room without giving a warning
