During the reservation process, I was shown photos of a specific upgraded room and completed my booking after receiving the room number for that upgrade. However, upon arrival at the hotel, I was assigned a different room instead of the one shown in the photos and confirmed during booking. As a result, I clearly stated that I would not accept or pay for the upgrade. The hotel management subsequently withdrew the upgrade charge; however, I did not stay in the room I originally selected, and unfortunately, my stay began with dissatisfaction due to this experience. Positive Aspects • Location: The hotel’s location is truly its strongest asset. It is beautiful, calm, and very special. • Peaceful atmosphere: The overall environment is quiet and relaxing. • Pool area: Pleasant to use, though somewhat limited in size.

Areas for Improvement • Rooms & Decoration: While the rooms are spacious, they feel overly furnished and visually busy. There are too many decorative elements and pillows, which detracts from comfort. A more minimal, modern, and simplified design would significantly enhance the guest experience. • Modernization: The hotel would benefit greatly from a general modernization, particularly in room interiors and décor. Given such an exceptional location, the current style feels dated and does not fully reflect the potential of the property. • Restaurants & Dining Options: The dining facilities are limited. With only two restaurants, outdoor seating options are insufficient—especially during summer. We preferred not to dine indoors with air conditioning, and finding available outdoor seating was challenging. Considering the hotel’s location, I strongly believe there is a need for more and better-designed outdoor restaurant spaces. • Pool Facilities: The pool area feels too small for the size and positioning of the hotel. A larger pool would be more suitable and enhance overall guest satisfaction.

Beautiful property. Very friendly staff. Rooms super clean well maintained, comfortable and well-decorated. It feels like a fairy tale throughout. Definitely recommend staying there for an immersion into cape Dutch architecture with the winery feels.

everything from arrival, to the valet, the reception, the rooms, the facilities. it was all incredible! it was a fantastic end to our honeymoon, and an absolute highlight. Lanzarac were beyond generous with complimentary minibar, wine tasting and drinks on arrival- felt like an all inclusive experience.

i sincerely could not fault a thing about this place. Although the overnight price was more than other hotel locations, the value for what you pay for is definitely met

Great stay. Restaurant menu needs improvements - too basic for a 5 star resort.

The Estate is simply beautiful nestled between the vineyards and the mountains. Historic buildings with modern comfort.

The main dining room needs a revamp of the menu. The Caprece salad which has cherry tomatoes and Buffalo Mozzarella, is mixed with double cream, and it is simply overwhelming. The menu choice is rather limited and mainly meat courses.

Amazing stay in beautiful location, good for the sole.

Phenomenal stay. From check in to check out everything was flawless. Staff were exceptional, facilities were great (I used spa, gym and both indoor and outdoor pools). The room was beautifully decorated and bed very comfortable. Amazing breakfast.

How exceptionally beautiful it was with a rich history. The staff were so friendly and welcoming especially Tinashe. The food was amazing. The bathroom floors and towel rack were heated.

Pleasant, but not a 5 star hotel in experience

The setting was beautiful and the food in the main restaurant was perfect. Absolutely delicious food!

It missed a lot of touches I would expect from a 5 star hotel. The staff were kind and friendly but lacked the cohesiveness and in some cases, presentation. It didn’t seem like they were connected behind the scenes on who the guests were, which night of their stay it was etc. When I was sat down for breakfast I was shown to my seat and left without any explanation of how the breakfast is run and an offer of coffee/tea. There were many situations like these that made this place feel 4 star instead of 5. The hotel is obviously old and characterful but not in any way immaculate. My veranda to my room was covered in leaves, it wasn’t a problem but I would have expected this to be sweeped and checked on before my check in. Dirty door mats that sit wonky at the front of the rooms, lots of stains on furniture. Also, when sitting outside at the spa there was a stray pipe pushing water out from the jacuzzi that was under maintenance. I would always try and hide these things from guests where possible, but instead we sat watching a lovely view whilst a blue plastic pipe was nearby soaking the veranda we were sitting on. These comments may seem petty in nature, but when you are paying £400/ R8700 a night I definitely expected a different experience.

We had the most fantastic time at Lanzerac. My boyfriend and I stayed there for 5 nights in July 2022. Everything was perfect: beautiful room and common areas, amazing food, super friendly and helpful staff. We couldn’t have chosen better.

Most things about Lanzerac never change, the venue is top class, however the constant operational adjustments at Lanzerac over the years is putting that 5 star at risk, the human element always has an impact.

Terrible Spa service, poor treatment and overpriced Dinner restaurant serving rotten fish twice and destroyed a ribeye on the bone steak dinner, no seasoning and dry. Foam pillows with no alternative is not 5 star
