ASARA Wine Estate & Hotel

The property and location is stunning - unfortunately the place is need of an uplift - pardrley offers compared to other hotels - same level offering much better value for money

The room type we booked and received was not as expected. I booked a courtyard room 40sqm as I love inner courtyard - got given a room at the edge of the property overlooking the road! To make matters worse they were fully booked so could not accommodate us. They offered to move us to another room that was under maintenance with huge stains on the carpet. In addition we did not sleep a wink the first night - our room was next to a room with steel sheeting on top. Due to the wind it flapped all night! At 6k a night this was not what we were expecting! Service in the restaurant at breakfast is atrocious! They forgot our order the 2nd morning 1.5 hours later and than brought cold food. Did not have enough jams or condiments really really unfortunate

The staff were of poor quality and poorly trained The rooms needed a makeover I did not feel that I received value for money

A really beautiful place with spectacular views, a feeling of space and privacy, large rooms and outside terrace, and excellent food and wine. We loved watching the wildlife on the lake and would highly recommend.

These items may not be of importance to others, but there is an unusual bathroom arrangement whereby there is no door or screen between it and the main bedroom ( the toilet does have a door however.) This should, we felt, be made clear within the room description at the booking stage . Apparently not all rooms have this arrangement ( but we were not offered an alternative.) The twin beds are literally 2 single beds; for this price point perhaps something slightly larger would be appropriate, there is certainly plenty of space in the room. The bed was also rather firm. Also we were woken early (ie before 07:00) on 2 /3 mornings with noise outside the room. All the staff within the restaurants and bars were friendly and very helpful and went out of their way to help make our stay special. However we found that overall the reception staff , whilst polite, were much less forthcoming and not very proactive. Our (albeit minor ) issues were discussed with them and little was done to resolve. Also there was little help or suggestions with any other arrangements. Uber worked well however. We felt a concierge or more experienced staff member would perhaps be more appropriate.

Everything was perfect! It is nice and quiet and one could relax along the pool.

Breakfast staff that are unwell should not be allowed to serve clients especially if they are sneezing repitively.

A lovely hotel located in an outstanding location with views across the vineyard. Our room was lovely and spacious with outstanding views from the balcony. The staff were very professional and couldn't do enough for you. Great wine tasting room with a terrace overlooking the lake and vineyards. Only a 10 minute drive to Stellenbosch and easy access to restaurants and other vineyards. Breakfast was delicious. A lovely touch was a bottle of wine left in the room and the evening treat of fudge or chocolate brownie. We definitely will return. Thank you

One minor improvement I would suggest is adding a privacy curtain to the ground floor room where my daughter stayed, as people frequently pass by on their way to the pool.
