Jungle paradise

Ming, our host, was great. The property is beautiful and serene and a perfect place to unwind. You feel far from civilization but have all the delights of Ubud just down the road.

Not really a dislike but a need to know, the road is bad, and not accessible to all delivery services and ride share companies, so just need to be aware for planning. But Ming can get most things sorted for you.

A stunning villa set in the forest, very secluded and peaceful. Excellent base in Ubud.

The villa and the location was absolutely beautiful. The villa decoration, patio and pool area looks like it is from a magazine cover. Very quiet and secluded with the forest in front. Monkeys lived in the trees and at dusk returned for the night - they were delightful to watch from the pool or balcony. Each bedroom had an ensuite and TV which was excellent. The host could organise a range of activities (at a premium), including chef, massages, trips and taxis. An excellent location as a base to explore Ubud and also the north and East of the island. The management team responded very quickly to any requests for extra services and were very flexible with cleaning times to suit our schedule. Cleaning completed everyday which was fantastic.

I hadn't realised when I booked that each bedroom and the living room are separate rooms that have no access in between. This sometimes was difficult due to children being in other bedrooms and at night once the door was locked having no access into the room. For families with older children/all adults this wouldn't pose a problem and could actually offer privacy. I loved the secluded location of the villa and quiet privacy that it offered. However, that seclusion was due to the villa being built down a track rather than a real road. A number of taxis would/could not pick up, which resulted in having to pay a higher fare for the journey for a taxi or take away delivering. Part of the problem is the road near the Viceroy is private and classed as another village, therefore certain taxis drivers are not allowed to drive through. This wasn't enough to put me off recommending the villa but something to be aware of as on a umber of occasions we had to walk to the main road, around 20-25 minute walk. The villa has lovely ensuite shower but no bath and the living room did not have air conditioning or a TV. Not a problem for our family but may be for a family with smaller children. We also had a problem with a rodent that got into the kitchen, but the management organisation came out immediately to resolve this and clean the whole area.
