David and Roberta are fabulous hosts. They provided information for our visits and would spend as much time as you want to ensure you have all the information you need. The breakfast was outstanding, the coffee was excellent and the service was perfect. The room was a generous size and the beds were very comfortable. All in all, it was a great experience and we will return one of these days, as long as it is available!

The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. Genuinely nice people! Breakfast was great with fantastic jams, croissants, breads, salami, cheese, and more. Two restaurants were within a 4-5 minute walk. We ate at the pizzeria. Food was good and reasonably priced. If we come back to visit Cinque Terre, this is without a doubt the place we will stay due to the extraordinary people.

Absolute wonderful stay! The owners are simply amazing! They do everything to make your stay perfect and it works! They are always available to help us. They provide good information to visit around. The breakfast is delicious. The room and all the spaces are clean. The view at the hotel is stunning. I highly recommande to everyone!

We love this hotel! The owners are wonderful, the location is beautiful, the breakfast is delicious, and Jack, the cat, is awesome! The hotel is located just over the ridge from the Cinque Terra, and is a nice escape from the heat, crowds and noise. Enjoy listening to the birds and watching the fireflies!

We LOVED our stay! The owners are some of the nicest and most helpful people I have ever met. The breakfast was the best we had for our whole trip too and you get to eat it on a wonderful patio overlooking a gorgeous view. Our room was cute and had what we needed. The nature surrounding the small hotel is beyond beautiful and relaxing, but you can get to the cinque terra towns very easily. The owner gave us such detailed instructions and recommendations that were spot on! You should stay here. :)

The GPS knew the B&B by name and therefore took me directly to the front door which was great considering the otherwise remote location. Saying that it is still only a ten minute drive to the centre of the city and having been there before you really dont want to stay in the city. Two rooms were offered to choose from which is a bonus. A very flexible breakfast and departure timetable really helped to make this stay memorable. David was very helpful with local knowledge and found a very nice motorcycle interesting route to leave.

David was terrific and gave us tips about the area. He made us feel so welcome. The hotel is not the easiest to find. You need to use GPS but once you find it you should enjoy the area.

David and Roberta were wonderful hosts - we were picked up and dropped off to the train station as we did not have a car. David spent a great deal of time explaining everything to us - he also shared wine and his phone to help make a call which was really nice. breakfast was awesome as well. Overall highly recommended!!

The owners are great with communication before your stay. They gave us recommendations and directions so it would be handy during our travels. They have a lovely set up within the hills of Cinque Terre. it is much quieter than the villages. My wife and I did the hike across Cinque Terre. The villages were a mad house, as well as La Spezia. We are very happy that we decided to stay outside of the tourist trap, (especially because they get cruise ships to the villages a lot in the summer). This place was a quick drive to La Spezia train station but away from all of the madness. We enjoyed the peacefulness of the location and the kindness of the hosts.

I absolutely enjoyed my 3 nights stay at Locanda del Papa. Located at La Foce, it was serene, quiet surroundings away (but yet not too far) from the bustle of the Cinque Terre crowd. Best if you have a car because of its location, I personally took the train. David and Roberta were amazing hosts, they picked me up/dropped me to/from the train station, and was kind enough to give me lifts into La Spezia in the mornings (this is of course depending on their availability). Coming back, there is a bus stop close by. There are 3 local restaurants within walking distance from the Locanda. What made my stay most enjoyable (other than the location) was the attentiveness and warm hospitality extended to me by David and Roberta. David provided up-to-date directions/timetable to nearby attractions Cinque Terre and Portavenere. Every day, a wonderful breakfast is served including fresh coffee tasty croissants, Italian breads and Robertas home-made jams. Farm fresh eggs can be requested along with ham & cheese... I truly felt like pampered each morning. Another thing, the internet/Wi-Fi connection was the best I got in Italy after having been travelling extensively. When Im back in this area in Italy, I will definitely stay at Locanda del Papa. It is my home away from home. Grazie, David and Roberta for the memories!

My husband and I stayed for three nights at Agriturismo Locanda del Papa in June 2016 while we travelled through France and Italy. This was one of our favourite stays made particularly wonderful by the gracious hosts, David and Roberta. We have fond memories of drinking wine with David on the porch, surrounded by beauty and stillness. This was a perfect compliment to the fast pace we'd been keeping on our trip. Roberta ensured that breakfasts were a treat (her jam! the croissants!) and the nature of the breakfast room left you wanting to linger a little longer. The train station in La Spezia was about a 10-15 minute car ride, giving easy access to Cinque Terre. Pizza at Hotel Nella (a 5 minute walk from Locanda del Papa) was the perfect end to the day. I would not hesitate to stay here again and hope someday we can return.

The stay was good. David came out to pick us up from the train station (which was very kind) as we did not have our own transport. The hotel was a typical farmhouse with good surrounding views.The room was comfortable,apart from the fact that the bathroom was a bit cramped.Being hot in summer, perhaps the room could do with an AC or an effective fan-David did give us one on our request!We missed our way on coming back by bus from the town & David was really very kind to pick us up & drive us back to the hotel.The breakfast was extremely good-better than anything we had in any other hotels-especially the home made jams & breads!David & his wife were extremely warm, welcoming & very helpful.I would recommend this place for people who would want to experience staying in a farmhouse,but keeping in mind that it is very important that you have your own transport to get back from the town.

We booked this room based on the reviews and ratings this B&B received on Expedia. We were not disappointed with our choice. A beautiful location nestled in the hills above La Spezia. It is both a nature retreat and a great strategic location for visiting the Cinque Terre area in Italy. Its quaint but extremely satisfying as it provides a respite from the crowds and noise of the Cinque Terre tourist attraction. Located above La Spezia you have easy access via bus to train station. David and Roberta the owners can also provide transportation to La Spezia train station. Its a short train ride to Cinque Terre so you spend little of your valuable time getting to your desired town in the Cinque Terre area. The breakfasts provided are superb and represent the true Italian cuisine of this intriguing area of Italy. It is very quiet at night and we both slept superbly. Cool clean mountain air also helps. There are two restaurants located near the Hotel. Both are within walking distance. Our favorite was the Hotel Nella pizza restaurant. They had an outstanding pizza that had a pesto sauce topping. We both really enjoyed this as the pesto is superb in this area. The owners are great hosts and make you feel like family. David and Roberta truly went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. If you want a true Italian experience in a relaxed beautiful location this is the place to stay.

The room was very clean and equipped for longer stays. However, what made this place really stand out and make me take the time to write this review was the owner and the awesome breakfast that he served. David (the owner) was the most welcoming and helpful person I've met on any of my trips. His English is very good, and he gave us invaluable tips for our trip to Cinque Terre towns the next day, as well as provided great restaurant suggestions for local Ligurian food. David and his wife Roberta are proud of the produce they grow on their farm, and that really showed during the breakfast. To make it short, the breakfast we had at Locanda del Papa was simply the best we've ever had anywhere. All the ingredients were locally grown and super fresh, and the focaccia and home made jams were to die for.

Hosts were excellent and provided great recommendations, the surroundings of the accommodations are outstanding (beautiful hillside views). It's off the beaten path and we found it without a GPS but I'd recommend having one (and not just for this pensione but for most of Italy,) Room was fine - no air conditioning but you don't need it at night as things cool down nicely.

Beautiful surroundings. Very helpful guidance from the owner. His instructions and directions were spot on. Very friendly. This is not a 5-star Marriott but is a totally different experience. In my opinion more pleasant. If you don't mind a 10 min drive from La Spezia, you want a gorgeous country setting and you have GPS to find it, you can't go wrong with this place.

The hosts were amazing, could not fault their enthusiasm helpfullness and kindness. Breakfast was wonderful, nothing too much trouble. If you are looking for 5 star accomadtion, ths is not the place for you. Our bathroom was very small but we managed.Good to have other guests to share our experiences and dinner with, over all a lovely experience. If you are driving follow Davids instructions, not a sat nav.

This is a really great hotel, the location is surrounded by beautiful mountains and the area is very peaceful and quiet. There are three great restaurants within walking distance and the hotel owner showed us very specific, easy to follow directions about how to get around La Spezie and Cinque Terre. In addition, the breakfast is absolutely amazing, we were served croissants, juice, bread, coffee, and scrambled eggs!
