The property is in a perfect location to explore Poole and sail over to Brown Sea Island. The owner was such a lovely gentleman who made you feel very welcome and provided an exceptional breakfast. The room however was really only fit for a single person as the small double was against the window wall so when you needed to get out of bed you had to wake up your partner in order to get out of the bed which obviously disturbs sleep and the bed was quite soft also. The room itself was tiny too but clean with a nice little bathroom and tea coffee making facilities, even disposable eye masks and ear plugs. For one night I would recommend as lovely little place as you can put up with the tiny room and disturbed sleep but wouldn’t want more than that, which is unfortunate as host just lovely, location perfect and breakfast amazing.

Stayed here a few time and always found the owner friendly polite and helpful ,doesn't do evening meals but you just walk to the quay and it takes 3minutes and you have the restaurants pubs. The breakfasts are large you would not starve . Definitely recommend

David was an excellent host and the veggie breakfast that he cooked to order could not be faulted. His homemade bread is delicious. Our room was cosy, but had everything we needed. Good powerful shower :) Great location for eating along the quayside. David's restaurant recommendations were spot on.

This is a unique and characterful place to stay, close to Poole Quay. David is super friendly and helpful. He is a font of knowledge on the attractions in the area. Excellent and very filling breakfast in a lovely dining area and you get to meet Bentley too.

The place was really dirty the host was ok but our room had so much dust and dirt you could have set up an allotment in the room, the bed well there is nothing good about that, the mattress was as old as the building and the springs have gone, awful nights sleep, if we hadn’t been stay just for the night we wouldn’t have stayed,

Loved this place. The owner David was very friendly and prepared an excellent breakfast! Down side is limited Parking - we had to use a multi story car park across the road from the B&B, but the 24 hour fee was reasonable. The other minus was it was very noisy in the evening. There was a group of people nearby that were chatting loudly into the early hours, which disrupted our sleep. No fault of the owner of our Property! We would recommend the Merchant House if you wish to be treated well and are not too fussed about the hustle and bustle around you. Thank you.

Lovely place, great location for the sea front, well appointed and very comfortable. We were only there for a short time (had a Guernsey ferry crossing the next morning) but thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The owner (David) was friendly and accommodating making us feel very much at home. Would highly recommend

This is a really cute bnb in a good central location - the quay is lovely especially when the sun is shining like it was for my stay. David is so lovely and a pleasure to talk to - Bentley is also adorable. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Everything I wanted and more. Great location for taking in the shops and restaurants of Poole. Easy walk from the train station and just minutes to the touristic ferries. Nice breakfast to start the day! David, the proprietor makes sure that needs are met - a very conscientious host! Highly recommend!
