The hotel is perched on top of Ascona and isn’t in the old town but is about 10 mins walk down to the centre. There is limited hotel parking to call ahead to reserve it or else pay about 20 CHF per day at an offsite location which was a nuisance. This hotel has the ability to be nice provided it is EXTENSIVELY renovated. It is very dated but not in a charming way, it looks very tired. The bathrooms (& florescent lightning!) are old an cramped. The carpet in the room was also very old (hotels shouldn’t have carpeting, it’s gross). No air con which but they gave us a noisy fan which didn’t do much to improve the quality of our sleep. We were there for 1 night and we moved to another hotel by the lakefront. The staff was helpful and kind. Also know that there is loud music played on the rooftop bar until 10pm but they were good about shutting it down by 10pm otherwise it sounded like you would be sleeping at a dance club. Overall, the views are nice from our balcony but the hotel needs substantial work to bring it into this century.

The hotel is perfectly located. Everything was very clean and good service. Breakfast was good without being spectacular. The only drawback was the heat and the room had neither air conditioning nor a fan. This made sleeping uncomfortable. Also, the hotel has many more rooms than parking spaces so if you're driving, you should book a car space in advance.
