    The place is run by a very sweet older couple and is deep in snow. We are grateful to grandpa for driving us to the onsen and picking us up after dinner, as it is a steep road up (fine with spikes on shoes but a little dark). You can ski into the hotel on sunshine slope or the slope to the west. However, the photos are no longer up to date. The place is cluttered and there is no communal lounge / hangout area. The rooms are cozy, but the communal bathroom and hallway are cold! Also, be aware there are no showers. Free onsen tickets for washing are provided so plan your time well (the onsens with showers close at dinner time in winter). We enjoyed the Genshichi roten outdoor onsen a 5 minute walk away. We played with the sledges too, it was fun! This is one of the cheapest hotels we could find in the area but the most expensive we had on our two week Japan trip. It is not the best, you're paying extra for being in Zao - which is definitely worth it. Overall we had a great time and would come back.

    I absolutely love this place: the Owners are so kind and helpful, they totally made my stay a wonderful one. You also get tickets to use the onsen which after a day on the slopes is an absolute dream

    Christmas Rose an elderly husband and wife team has a good location from a ski point of view close to a chair lift but difficult to find and in conditions of heavy snow impossible to drive to. Owner will need to come and pick you up from somewhere you can get to It is somewhat quirky. Despite what is advertised there is no bath or shower in the whole place One is left with opportunity to go to an onsen to have a shower or bath Owner will take you there. But time to go and come back limited by the owner Can however walk down oneself to onsen and the town in general and come back on foot No meals offered Breakfast in a packed box Rooms sheets etc very clean Depending on the price it is probably worth the adventure for avid skiers that don’t mind lack of facility Wife is very sweet
