Best Hostel to be with a very nice people.

When you are with SMOUT not SMOUTH CRIMINAL 😅 you are in good hands, he is there to make sure everything goes well, a very good Man with a great welcome. Victoria, the amazing girl at the reception, well-educated, professional at work, helpful in making guests very comfortable, without forgetting the German lady I met the first time, she was very friendly and very quick to do check-in without complications. I really liked this place because you feel at home, and everyone is friendly and that’s the goal of the best hostels. Of course the Irish people ( from the most amazing supporters in the world ) very gentle and very friendly, the Buddhist man very kind, the woodworker very good man … all these people are just amazing. Thank you guys for making my stays so special.

Everything was nice, need only some small stuffs, like the light of the Bed, and pillows , but these are just small things 🤝

Amazing and relax atmosphere

The atmosphere is friendly, and for the price is pretty well located.

Probably the smell on the corner room. But of course is understandable when there are other 5 guys sleeping there.

CLEAN AND COZY

Best price for the value! Clean and cozy place, big room without bad smell, which is one of the most important things at hostels :) Perfect wi-fi, diversity of coffee/tea, milk, big kitchen, nice balcony and location in the heart of the city! Highly recommend! If I will be in Hamburg next time - I will definitely return here.

Nice staff, decent hostel.

The staff were very friendly and the kitchen was large, as well as having free teas and coffee. Also pretty quiet in the common areas.

The bed made a fair bit of noise when you moved and under the bed was particularly dusty and some of my things got covered when I put them under. Bit of a walk to the main attractions, but not awful.

Good value for money

The staff was really nice and proactive. They did everything they could to make me feel welcome and comfortable. Also the locations was great.

The beds in dorms could be a bit more comfortable. Also if the bedroom doors would lock on their own it would be a bit better since some of my roommates didn't lock after themselves which means anyone from outside could get in.

Clean and comfy at a good price. But the Wi-Fi needs serious improvement.

Clean and comfortable. I stayed in the women’s floor and it was great. The bathrooms are private, and the room was quite comfy. The kitchen is fully equipped. Microwave and some shared appliances were gross, though. They offer free ground coffee and tea. The common area is spacious, and there’s live music in the evenings.

Wi-Fi connection was poor, and when I asked about it, they acted like it was something unusual. After talking with other guests, I realized it’s a common issue. It bothered me that they just pretended nothing was wrong and didn’t do anything to fix it.

Just a lot of mishaps for me

Common areas were good and clean. People in the hostel were really nice and it was easy to find people to talk to.

Staff give me wrog code for the door downstairs, so it was hard for me to get inside at the night. I tried to call the hotel but the don't have staff there after 8. I got inside after some other girls were coming back from festivals but it was long to wait if somebody would show up. The room wasn't so clean. I noticed beforehand that they say that there can be noise from outside and never before has it been a problem still to sleep but that was really loud inside even in the bar streets and there was really a lot of noise, not sure if it was because our room window said its broken or is it always like that. They also had problems with the dryer so it was easier to go into the laundry salon.

Okey to stay

Irish guy on reception is really helpfull , he stays and take care of everything on evening. Location is not far from center, just take bus number 3 from bus or train station (Don’t stay more than 2 days in Hamburg) Well in conclusion not bad not very good Free coffee and tea was nice

My check in was not good, first i asked how to come and answer was check our website , really !!! , is it too hard to explain like every hostel And than i asked women to gave me a lower bed, their answer was nothing to do with (why hostels in germany do not gave numbers to beds) . My first day wasted because i had to waite till 3 pm to get bed (i have injury on my knee) If you are a smoker, they close the balcony after 8 pm —- There was a drunk guy in our room, first night he was screaming in night, than missing at second night, 3th night ow boy he peed everywhere , go up to 3th bed and jumped, he even peed to a ladies bed. We couldnt find anyone to help —- They gave you a code for locker but you can open it by phone lifght

As long as you don't expect a super-modern, new, or stylish building, you will find a cosy, basic, and clean hostel with friendly staff and the usual amenities a hostel provides. The rooms, lockers, and beds are clean but basic, and just 'do their job.' I appreciated that the shared bathroom had the shower & toilet in one room.

All you need as both a backpacker and tourist

Free coffee was a gamechanger, and pleasant surprise...Really important, for a backpacker,in a big ( expensive) city. Very nice and helpful personnel . Nice view and close to cheap food shopping/grocery stores. Free bedlinnen was sooo nice and convenient. I like to visit different places/hotels, but if not, I would stay at this Hostel again,for sure😎

Vomit stayed in a sink,for two days ,before cleaning...Room mates not instructed in keeping the room door locked all the time...Especially during sleep...

Everything you need from a hostel !

This hostel has all the basic things you need in a hostel, where you need it. It's nothing fancy but it does what it says and is convenient. A FUNCTIONNING lamp and plug next to your bed, proper blackout curtains. (it's rare enough in hostels to be mentionned) The showers are ok, it's small individual bathrooms with a sink and toilet actually, it may seem trivial but this is so much more convenient than in many place where you have either the shower, the sink or the toilets. The kitchen is fine. The common area is quite nice, and there is a little outside if you wish (mostly for people smoking I would say). The neighborhood is a favorite of mine, the hostel is quite well located in a very lively area full of shops and restaurants, quite close to a station BUT the room was located in a way that it's actually pretty calm outside when there are no people in the outside area and I really enjoyed that. It's opening on an inside ''court'' and not the street.

The main thing I would say is : despite a convenient and clean kitchen, what happened to those two microwaves ? I have never seen any in such a bad state anywhere. I was afraid to put anything in it. Would be good to consider a once in sometime deep cleaning...

"Awesome Hostel with the Best Location and Staff"

I had a really great stay at this hostel. it's one of those places where you instantly feel at ease. The location is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of Schanzenviertel. If you like the vibe of the Schanze, you’ll love this hostel. everything’s just around the corner, from cafés to nightlife. The free coffee (and tea!) is a really nice touch and not just any coffee, it's actually good. The community kitchen is very well equipped, which made cooking easy and social. I also loved the terrace with a seating area perfect for a chill breakfast or evening chat. A special shoutout to Valerie at the reception super friendly, helpful, and always up for a chat. She really added to the positive atmosphere.

Been here before and it has changed a lot. WiFi was better in the rooms. Kitchen was big but had one hot plate for everyone. Location. Common area and coffee

Less comfortable common area. The owner was always around but if you had a question for him he would defer you to the front desk. Common area WiFi. Pillows are big but flat. Showers, at least in men’s, have glass partition which is unusual. Front door and entry door on main floor were never locked so anyone could just come in. Had a strange guy seemingly living in the place. The private room although comfortable, had the outlet at the door. So if you plan to charge and use your device from bed it won’t happen

It’s a good place to stay at for solo travelers.

The room was pretty clean. It was close to the 15 bus, which was convenient. There were private shower rooms (shower and toilet), which I found really nice. There are restaurants nearby for dining out. For me it wasn’t that loud, there was free tea and coffee.

Great place to enjoy the night life of Hamburg

It is a place near good restaurants, a supermarket, and a train station. If you want to go sightseeing, it is possible to go on foot and I recommend that because you can get to know the small business around town and get into Hamburg life. Also, it is not difficult to get into the nightlife because there are many bars around. If you want to get to know the nightlife of Hamburg, this is the perfect place. The staff was also very polite and it was pretty clean, there is a kitchen that you can use.

However, if you, like me, are a morning person who likes to go sightseeing during the day and have a nice rest, I do not recommend it. The rooms are a little bit hot and the windows face the street, so when you open them to get some air over night, it is too noisy, many people drinking and talking really loud outside.

The staff was so friendly, when we arrived, they told us that we received a free upgrade which meant that my friend and i could stay in a room just by ourselves with our own bathroom instead of sleeping in a room with two female strangers. the location was very good, the kitchen and the „living room“ were also very comfortable!

The location is the highlight. Bed was comfortable, shower had a powerful jet of warm water. Possibility to check-in late at night.

Great except for...

Hostel was great. Great location for bars and train station is about a 5-10 minute walk away. Restaurants also super close by. Reeperbahn only a 20 minute walk away which matters when trains stop going around 1230am.

Only single issue I had was the shower. Great for saving water but I was traveling about 20 hours and all I wanted was to take a refreshing hot shower but the showers are tap and water cuts off seconds after so you have to keep tapping it for water to stay on. Again Great for saving water but bad if you want to enjoy a nice hot shower.

Exceptional

I had a flight from Tallinn to Berlin that was delayed by 3 hours, I contacted the hostel and they were waiting for me 3 hours after check-in time, around 1:30 am, I am very grateful for that, it would have been impossible find another place to sleep. The hostel feels more like a big, comfortable and cozy house. My shared room was spacious, with a couch, lockers, and large windows. I didn't have time to be there, but they have a great kitchen/living room with a wood heating. Good experience if you're looking for more than just a soulless hostel branch.

What I wanted when I needed it. I would stay again and recommend it to others.

Staff was superior! Susa and Helen were kind and helpful. The facilities were simple to negotiate and everything is easy to find. Very relaxed. Coffee and tea are available 24/7.

I wasn't prepared for the Hostel to be above street level. I have bad knees and stairs are something that I try to avoid. The 4-bed room was written as 'on suite' when the WC and Showers were actually across the Hall. No breakfast is scheduled during the week, although you are encouraged to bring your own food.
