A disappointing stay with poor hygiene, bad smells, no privacy, and services far below what the price and rating suggest

Didn’t like anything at all

Honestly, this is the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. I really don’t understand how it has such a high rating. First of all, there was no hand soap. When I informed the staff, they told me that since this is not a hotel, they don’t provide soap. Having a toilet without soap has nothing to do with being a hotel or not — this is a basic public health issue. Besides that, there is no privacy at all, and the rooms smell bad. It definitely does not deserve the money paid.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!

The location is superb. Not only easy to reach and very close to transport, but also right at one of the city must visit areas. The dining area has an awesome view too.

I always try to book rooms with external showers and toilets, cause having them in the room makes for a noisier stay. My room was spacious though, and that compensantes a little.

By far the best hostel I've ever stayed

The place was amazing and the staff were friendly. The breakfast is really good and includes vegan/vegetarian options. The location is perfect, really close to the city center and a few meters from the subway

My only complaints are that it was noisy many nights, but it is a hostel for young people, so it was expected. Also, It would be nice to have curtains and a personal light on the bed.

A great place to stay in Hamburg

Great location. Decent Breakfast. Very forthcoming staff. Spectacular views from the dining area. Could lock my bicycle indoor and there was a washing machine and dryer.

More than I expected! I'll definitely try it again.

There were various food options provided for the breakfast including vegan food-though very small corner was prepared with few kinds. The dining place was quite big enough to have all the visitors in the morning at the same time. It's located in very good place just in front of the subway station and the port with beautiful view! The room was clean and bed was also comfortable enough.

I didn't know that I should be membership of international youth hostel system (it was written in very small letters hidden in the downscrol on the booking information paper after funishing booking and I found it when I was informed of it at the front desk). So I should have paid extra charge for joining in the membership aside from room fee originally written on the website for the booking. The staff of the hostel said, they've asked several times to correct the description for the precise content and price, but it has not been changed.

Pleasant stay, satisfied but sleep deprived

Clean, super good location in the city and easy access with public transportation, very nice outdoor space with a little amphitheater and tables and chairs surrounded by greenery, breakfast included with a fairly good amount of food choice

2 out of 8 lockers in the room were not functioning, and the isolation from outside noise was almost non-existent so that even with earplugs the music and people partying noise was loud

Very good

One of the best breakfast Ive had in a hostel. I even tried the typical franzbrötchen which was delicious. The hostel is around a 5min walk from a metro station but if you have a suitcase with wheels it can be difficult to get there as there are some stairs on the way to the hostel.

I got early so I left my luggage there and later did the check in. The front desk workers barely explain me some stuff like I had to make my own bed so they could know which beds were taken, they give information on a paper which is written ONLY in german. There wasnt handsoap which means everyone had to leave the bathroom without properly cleaning their hands. As I said, you have to make your own bed, which means the hostel as a company saves on a possible job for someone else. I don't mind doing it myself but it seems that more and more hotels and hostels are trying to safe every peny in every way they can. Lastly, I stayed in the room around the time people came to "clean up" which included a woman telling me to make my bed, taking the trash can out and thats it, not even mopping the bathroom.

Comfortable but not the cleanest nor good for young couples or solo travellers.

I liked the location, as it was easy to reach the centre of Hamburg and easy access to the metro for the train station. The breakfast was also great value as it was included in the price.

I didn’t like the lack of social areas within the hostel, it was quite family oriented. Also the bathrooms had no soap which was really inconvenient. The showers got quite dirty at times and there is only 3 bathrooms on an entire floor. So plenty of waiting to use a toilet.

Very good

The vegan breakfast option was a nice thing to have and experience. Other hostels should learn from this and dont even get me started about hotels. The staff was nice and helpful. The showers arrangement where you basically have a private toilet and shower all in one to yourself.. super nice because its very much needed. Nice to have locks in the room.

The beds were not very robust, being wooden and squeaky. As someone was climbing above me at night, it was very loud even tho i had earbuds but i could both feel it and hear it (not always he case with more robust bedframes in hostels). Concerning loudness, it would be helpful to have a door that it is not impossible to close quietly. I was disturbed at night many times because i thought it was inconsiderate rommates, but the door just really closes very loudly (smashes) even if you try to stall it. That and combined with snorers, its a guaranteed no-sleep night.
