The most stunning views all round. Spacious and light property. So much to commend it, but

The location and facilities were very good and it’s a great apartment with parking included. Unfortunately because of an issue with the windows/patio doors in the bedrooms and the dreadful noise that keeps you awake when the wind blows through, what must be gaps where they’re not fitted properly, really ruined our stay. I dud try to speak to somebody at Sykes Cottages who look after the property, after seeing a review the previous client staying there had left and said there was a major problem. Unfortunately I’m still waiting to speak to somebody as all you get is an automated SMS message or WhatsApp saying an agent will get back to you soon. My first message was 9 days ago and I’ve left numerous messages & emails since but I’m still waiting. I didn’t really want to leave a bad review as the flat would be lovely without this issue but if that might prompt a reply of some sort then I will have to. It’s the worst customer service from Sykes Cottages and Lyme Bay Holidays as I’ve since discovered they are sister companies. I’ve tried every single number I was given and have gone round in circles trying to have some sort of conversation about this and feel so disappointed and angry that somebody at Sykes hasn’t had the decency to even send me an email to ask for more details. I have pictures and video recordings of the awful noise and how the blinds flap around as the windows are so drafty, although look new but obviously not fitted properly.
My weekend was ruined by lack of sleep the 2 nights we stayed and if my husband had his way we would have left after night 1 but I persuaded him to stay the second night which was even worse!!! We packed our stuff and left very early the next morning as there was no point in staying any longer listening to that awful noise. Such a shame. Had I managed to get a reply from Sykes beforehand and found out the problem had not been rectified I would have cancelled and asked for a refund. After paying nearly £650 for a 2 night stay I feel some sort of compensation/refund should be given. I await a reply !!

There was a major problem in the back bedroom which must have been noticed before our stay but not resolved. We were there just Friday night to Sunday morning so I did not want to spend our only full day on the phone. There were high winds but not a big storm on Friday night. I was woken up by a very loud noise coming from the left hand side balcony patio door.Wind was obviously coming through the top and side of the locked door and making a load constant noise as the wind came through. I did record this on my phone as I could not believe it was happening. I had to abandon trying to sleep in the room. I swapped with my sister in the other bedroom and she slept on the sofa. In the morning I went outside and could see that there had been brown parcel tape along the top and side at some point as the residue glue was still there. That afternoon, I lay on the same bed to nap because of the disrupted night and the same thing happened again but the wind was not so bad. I didn't bother again on Saturday night as I needed to sleep. I called Lyme Bay Holidays on Monday morning to explain that the door's sealant/rubber needed to be fixed ASAP. They said they would get someone out to fix this. It's sad that this had not been done before as this won't have happened suddenly. As that bedrooms has the twin bed so that's why my sister had to sleep on the sofa. We have booked to return to St Michael's House for a longer holiday next year but not in the Penthouse - I didn't want the same hassle.

The view was fantastic! Excellent location. Welcome pack was lovely. Beds were very comfortable. Ideal space for three people.
The door to the bedrooms was very heavy and needed a doorstop to prevent it from banging when opening and closing. Balcony area needs a bit of work to tidy it up.

4 days at the penthouse
Great location with off street parking. View of the bay and town from veranda. Fresh decoration good shower. Linen and towels provided. Washer drier hairdryer and iron available.
Unfortunately the WiFi is poor with netflix etc not running smoothly. WiFi failed on day 3 which stopped the heating working as it had a Halo thermostat and we couldn't work out how to manually get the heating on..Agent's responed to phone call but hadn't fixed it by the time we left.

Good central location.
Lots of stairs to reach to top floor. Would be difficult if you were infirm.
