Location was perfect for our needs. Great sleep in an area that’s completely dark and silent. There was a horse in the field behind the house when we arrived! The lodge is dog-friendly which we really appreciated. Thoughtful setup. Provided coffee, tea, fresh milk, breakfast ingredients, and snacks— even for the dog!
The radiators don’t work. Instead, space heaters are available. They are only in some rooms; not all. There is no heat in the bathroom. The living room and bedroom heaters work fine, eventually, but the kitchen heater is inadequate. I understand it’s an old house and heating options are limited, but I’m including this because I would have liked to have known this in advance. For a January stay, this was a disappointment. And other reviewers mentioned the steep and slanting stairs.

We had the most beautiful stay at Daffodil Lodge. The house is full of charm, history, and the sweetest details — you can truly feel the love that went into every corner. Waking up to mountain views, quiet mornings, and even rainbows made the experience unforgettable. Mary, our host, was absolutely wonderful — so kind, quick to respond, and genuinely thoughtful, making sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. The lodge felt warm, peaceful, and incredibly welcoming. One of our favourite trips so far, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a dreamy, cosy escape.
No complaints except the shower (felt a bit difficult to adjust the heat )

Was a lovely area and the breakfast items left in the fridge were a lovely touch.
No proper cooking facilities adequate for 4 people. There was a 2 hob camping stove and a tiny portable oven that had no instructions. Air fryer was a good add as we had to cook everything in that and space is very limited in the kitchen. The stairs were very steep - but it was an old cottage but think that needs to be made clearer. Some of the lights downstairs weren't working but the owner did offer to come and sort them, and then at night there is a sensor light at the top of the stairs which was continously flicking on and off all night. The bedrooms seemed had a lot of personal items in them such as clothes in a wardrobe that had been tied shut and the drawers had little personal items in them - almost like we were staying in someone's bedroom that had moved out for the night. The bathroom was like an add on room with no real wall and the wallpaper was bubbling .Was very quirky.

Lovely cottage, cute decorations all around the house and little quotes with farm storries, restaurants and trips recommendations around Sligo. Nice and quiet nature around and it's an easy drive to find this place.
Host Mary was so lovely and kind she made my sister's birthday special by leaving her a decoration and birthday present and snacks 🥰 Very kind touch, great communication. Me and my family felt very welcomed and cosy and she prepared groceries for our breakfast.
Everything was available to use in bathroom, kitchen and fridge. We used the kitchen facilities for cooking family dinner and breakfast had a very lovely stay. Thank you again 💗☘️

This cottage was amazing. It was incredibly well appointed, anticipating any possible need we may have. The fridge was stocked with everything we needed for a full Irish breakfast as well as all the other things such as coffee, tea, spices, and cooking implements. All the rooms were decorated beautifully and we found new and interesting things at every turn. The setting a little way out of town made it feel like we were having a true country experience.

I loved the quirky bits that mirrored well with the old style of the house. Fantastic host and great little town only 2 minutes down the road.
Snacks, breakfast and communication with the host, all top notch!
Oh and the setting is just stunning!
The living room has an electric fire, just not a personal taste of mine. If it was feasible for a fire, stove or even one of those bioethanol stove - the ascetics of an actual fire would just top this place off! So it’s not a negative, just an ideal 🙂

It has all the stuff that you may need during your stay. It really feels like an old Irish grandma’s house. Those who enjoys history (house was built back in 1918 and renovated), quiet living, will enjoy this place.
The location is too far for our liking. It is 20mins to town center. The old house is not suitable for our group (an elderly and a kid). The bedroom is upstairs while the bathroom is downstairs.

2 couples and each of us loved the house. Quiet location in rural Ireland. The contents for a good Irish breakfast were in the fridge etc. This was very much appreciated... a sign of a generous host. Thank you.

It was in a quiet location and easy to find. Mary is a wonderful communicator and also left little personal notes that were nice. There were a lot of goodies left around the house which were appreciated. The bedrooms were decorated and you can tell that the host has a lot of love and nostalgia for the house as she explains on a plaque. The house has been in her family for a few generations so it's hard to be critical of something so loved. She explains that the house has been renovated which you can see in the newer windows, doors, shower, toilet and kitchen appliances. Everything was clean and it had a lot of quirky charm, like spending the night at Grandma's house. We stayed in early June and it wasn't too hot or too cold outside so the temperature inside was good too. Easy to understand Instructions were left and it was easy to turn on hot water and the wifi password was left in several places.
The house is very loved but unfortunately has suffered with age in the way of a tilting staircase and uneven walls that are covered up by slapdashed wallpaper.

I'm not sure it would be possible to find a more thoughtful host than Mary. Her love for her family home is evident everywhere, as is her genuine thoughtfulness for her guests' every need. She has staples, treats, handmade guidebooks, personalized welcome notes, clear instructions -- everything. And the cottage itself is like stepping into a storybook, complete with stunning scenery! We chose a side-trip to Sligo for Yeats, but this place was almost its own destination.
Just know that the bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is on the main floor, with some steep stairs, if you have mobility issues.

The property itself is so beautiful!! They were so sweet with leaving lots of treats/snacks/supplies - I’ve never stayed anywhere that provided so much and was so considerate! Loved knowing the history of the place and with my family originally from Sligo it felt so special to stay there.
I would say the only critique I have is that the stairway light is a little off and would turn on and off at random times.

Lovely authentic cottage in countryside. Fantastic host - every little detail thought through and fabulous supply of options for breakfast. Large bedrooms and great heating throughout cottage
Stairs to bedrooms are steep, would not suit older persons

The lodge is buried in beautiful countryside. You would definitely need a car to stay here. It’s very cosy and quiet. We were very surprised how well stocked the lodge was. Pretty much everything you would ever need. Just like home from home. The availability of wifi was a great surprise.
My short stay. The lodge was so lovely. I will miss the best sleep I’ve had in years.

We instantly felt welcome. There was a personalized message on our table, and everything is thoughtful in the house. Breakfast with eggs, sausage fresh tomatoes and bread were supplied amongst any other goodies. The table was decorated according for Easter, and the daffodils were in bloom for Daffodil Cottage. Mary was very responsive to all our query, although if I had looked around more I would have found answers to my questions are there are many guide-books from restaurants to recommendations for walks.
We had a little trouble figuring out how the heating system worked and didn’t want to disturb Mary late in the evening, but thankfully the space heaters kept us warm enough, and the beds were hugely comfortable.

The little cottage is just beautiful. It has been lovingly preserved as it would have been a hundred years ago when it was still a working Dairy. The place has tradition and charm in every corner of the place. You couldn’t get a more authentically Western Irish Experience. It is set in between the hills, the landscape is amazing. The beds are very cozy
I loved everything about it, I would agree with the host about mobility. The stairs are 200 years old and a little crooked as a result - this added to the charm for me. I just had my hip replaced and managed fine though.

Beautiful roomy cottage with beautiful garden and mountain views in quiet rural location near Sligo. Host Mary kindly provides snacks and extras and as it was my birthday she left a card and bottle of wine 🍷! Fantastic value for money . Very homely feel, perfect for relaxing after a long drive. Thanks Mary. Will definitely be back if ever down your way again!

Was clean and hoist who we didnt meet left us a apple pie and other goodies which was lovely.. it was quainty decorated and had everything you need available .
Bedroom up stairs ans toilet down stairs but the stairs were very uneven and as a 66 year old women i found them dangerous. Should have stated this in obvious print when advertising. I wouldnt have booked it.

Authentic turn of the century farmhouse, kept up lovingly by Mary, who grew up there.
We loved everything especially the warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Mary was so helpful giving eircode and key code. She was so accommodating to our needs. She provided snacks, essential food bits and went above and beyond with toiletries and thinking of all the little things (eye mask, dressing gowns, slippers). She was a pleasure. Very quaint and homely cottage, the true Irish experience (as we came from London).

The house dated back to early 19th century. It was quaint and comfortable and warm.

during the day it was quaint and cute. You got the feel of a a 100 year old farmhouse. Mary was very warm to talk to and left wonderful treats for us.
Once it got dark it felt very creepy. Neither my son nor I could sleep. We were waiting for things to come out of the wall like in a haunted movie. The walls were covered with something that looked like contact paper coming off the walls. The bathroom tiles kept coming loose as we were walking and the flooring was buckled and coming up in many locations. We never slept and left early.

The heat worked good. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen fit our needs
The toilet seat wouldn't stay up, so you either had to hold it or rest it on your back. The temperature of the shower went from hot to cold. The backyard was a little scary when we pulled up to it in the dark.

Quirky and all the extras supplied by the host were appreciated.
the stairs were quite frightening! Also the beds and bedding could do with some updates!

This was the cutest and quirkiest place we’ve stayed at and we loved it. I love that the hosts have so many notes and signs and instructions and books and pictures all around the cottage. We even got to watch a dvd. We were very pleasantly surprised with all the little extras such as milk and butter etc , this is never expected but very much appreciated went we get it. And there was wifi which wasn’t supposed to be there but appreciated that it was.
The only thing that was disappointing was there was no washing machine . We are in the 5th week of an 8 week trip and I had booked accommodation with a washing machine once a week , now we need to wait another week til the next one which will be interesting. Oh, and the toaster doesn’t work , the handle won’t stay down.

Everything! The lodge is an adorable place to stay situated in a beautiful part of Sligo. The house itself is gorgeous with great facilities, cosy beds, extremely clean has strong WiFi and lots of hot water. The price for the accommodation was also very reasonable. I also loved that the host went to extra trouble to make sure our trip was that bit more special. She was in regular contact, in which she was both professional but also friendly. We stayed over the Easter weekend and she even left an Easter egg as part of our welcome package. We loved the lodge and would love to come back someday!
No, everything was great.
