Beautiful Cottage Nestling under Benbo Mountain. River, lake and sea fishing

I wanted the Cottage experience and Alder Cottage delivered! Tranquil with easy access to all Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo, Roscommon, and Donegal have to offer! I loved having a fire on in the evenings. Mary was so kind and welcoming, she left a bottle of her amazing apple juice, and jams from her farm upon check in and even made a chocolate welcome treat for my birthday! As I sit typing this in my room at an inn in Aughrim Co Wicklow, I am wishing I was back at Alder cottage. If you are looking for a great 'home base' location for a stay in the North West part of Ireland, Alder Cottage should be at the top of your list. Mary is the BEST!

Mary was our Host, she explained everything that we needed to know, above all, helped us when we had a problem with our car. The cottage was brilliant, spotless and tranquil, and Mary was a great Host. Will definitely recommend her hospitality.

Cozy, attractive and clean in a lovely setting. Charming host with great suggestions for sights and activities in the area. Highly recommend.

I was aware of the remoteness of the cottage but the directions (in French) were not of great help. After driving around for some time Mary met us and guided us in to our delight. The cottage is a country gem and the area has plenty for everyone. Apart from the cold (which can be resolved through a roaring open fire) we had an awesome week in a lovely setting. Everyone was so friendly and we were met by a bubbly host who started our week with some free range eggs and home made fruit jam, along with a nice posey of flowers. Mary also was happy to provide as much wood as we required for the fire. There is plenty of help with activities etc from literature at the cottage. Many thanks for ensuring that our anniversary holiday (and first trip to Ireland) was an enjoyable one. We would definitely recommend this cottage.
