For a safe nights sleep, it had all we needed

Wouldn't recommend - extremely small.

Communication with Monica (I think it was Monica - only txt mag so could have been anyone). They responded quickly to txt msg.

Room was way too small for 2 people (couldn't even open 2 suitcases) and the overall feel of the place wasn't inviting, and that was for the 20mins we spent sitting on the bed deciding where to go from here. So we left, out of pocket, and having to drag our suitcases back down a very steep and narrow staircase. Wouldn't recommend unless u are a single backpacker with a very small backpack. Also, could be a big danger in the event of fire, yikes!!!

Excellent location for my purpose- on a main bus route but residential close to Spire Hospital and Southampton General Was there for 8days so appreciated the cleanliness the cooking facilities the washing facilities and decent size fridge freezer We arrived an hour early and the owner kindly gave us immediate access- communications excellent

Minor things like 1 Only 2 hangers in my room one of which was broken 2 Freeview on television didnt work suspect aerial was faulty although it was connected to internet so not a big issue. 3 Drawer of storage unit was broken 4 A wall light above the bed would have been very welcome - a bit more attention to the small things and I would have rated this property excellent

Great location.

The location was great we were going to a funeral at Hollybrook Cemetery 2 mins drive or 10 mins walk away. It's a communal kitchen with limited seating but we had a table in our room so made it work as other occupants were eating their meals. We opted for the ensuite bathroom, the others shared. There's a Chinese takeaway; a Fish and chips shop; and a small convenience shop within easy walking distance (3 shops).

The toilet is very close to the wall, not much space for the knees. And the automatic light in the ensuite went out after the designated time so I was left in the dark a couple of times 😔

An over priced hovel

Absolutely nothing it was a very expensive dump

Communal bathroom right next to the room with banging doors and associated noise. Lack of facilities in the shoe box size room. I booked it for 6 nights but left the bump after just one night and found a far more better accommodation at a lower price. I've stayed in some pretty ropy place but this over priced hovel takes the biscuit

The property was extremely clean and tidy. Also supplied a fan in the room as the weather has been very hot recently.

Disappointed and bit uncomfortable.

The tv didn’t work. If I didn’t bring my laptop we would have been staring at the small four walls there. Got woken up by a bang and a hoover. There was also a really loud tv playing next door.

Perfect for us

Great location for the hospital. Spotlessly clean. Great communication from the host. We used it for personal carers attending my son who was at the hospital. We had 3 nights. So useful having use of a full kitchen

Very clean. Very polite staff. Very comfortable. On road parking is good. Shower is great, it is a shared bathroom but I found it very okay I even showered in morning and felt comfortable to do so.

With rooms as it’s kinda like a house makes you feel/wonder how quiet you have to be in the room so couldn’t get as comfortable as wanted to in a sense. But then again I couldn’t really hear anyone else so could just be me over thinking that one.

A very well-run property in a convenient location for hospital visitors.

No breakfast provided — advertised as self-catering. Large fridge in kitchen with adequate space allocated to each room (labelled shelves). Large washing machine and dryer in the kitchen. Good provision of electric points in the bedroom. Whole house very quiet while I was there, despite being small. Freshly tastefully decorated rooms and shared areas. The coded locks work very well and give a sense of security. Space for my car on the small driveway. The managers were very helpful and accommodated my wish to keep the same room when I had to extend my stay (my stay was to enable me to visit my critically ill husband daily in the nearby hospital and I could not be sure how long I would need to have the room). Excellent wifi.

The venetian blind in the bedroom was broken and could not be closed fully. The shower in the nearest (upstairs) bathroom was difficult to use as a handheld one and there were no handrails on the bath to help me to get in and out of it safely (I am 79 and need this supportive feature). The signage outside was inadequate — no signboard showing the name 'Shirley Guest House' — identifying the property depended on noting the number 89 on the dustbins on the drive. It took me several drives up and down the long Warren Avenue before I found the property when I arrived and on subsequent trips out, especially after dark.

Perfect host and very convenient for hospital

The host was fantastic, I was running late and very tired after a hospital visit. She helped me find the house and made sure I got in OK. Spotless room, with own shower and toilet, plenty of very hot water, extra towels. This is very convenient for Southampton Central hospital. The room had a kettle with coffee sugar and tea.

Someone larger or taller would find the toilet cramped to sit on, I just fit, and it's right in front of the shower which is awkward. But was all spotlessly clean.

I was booked for a one night stay I arrived late and found a few issues with the room Monica Immediately called me and set it all right. Anyone willing to dig out like she has for me is definitely worth it. Shop practically next door and 7 minute walk to where my wife was staying in hospital
