It took me back to the early 1990s - easy, comfortable, individual youth hostels (now all in the corporate look and no longer the quirky and diverse experience as a result) - this was an amazing place - a real Tardis experience - walking into that huge lofty space (communal area) and then the cosy, comfortable bedroom! Everything thoughtful and quirky (LOVE the toad/frog that uses the room number to cover their decency!) If this is read by other travellers: if you want sterile stream-line - please do not take up the bed of someone who needs it and would love it! If you are out for a great base in a magical town in Wales - this is for you!
I saw nothing that I did not like. So, I am not going to dig deep to find something to satisfy the survey rules!

Great location over the road from Machynlleth station and bus routes. Next door to shop (at petrol station).
Very good value.
Able to check in slighly early which helped my plans for the day.

It was clean. It was interesting being a little quirky with all the paraphernalia in the main hall area.

A great location for walking
Perfect for people on a low budget
Close to the station and a big shop
The hostel was very basic with only one bathroom for all 4 rooms
The lounge area was not cosy
