Butterfly Villas Nusa Ceningan

The property had the most unreal views, it was the most perfect stay we could’ve imagined. The room was beautiful, the bathroom was beautiful. It was all perfect. The staff were absolutely amazing, the most helpful and friendly staff I’ve ever come across. They went out of their way daily to facilitate us in terms of advice and help along the way with any troubles we came across whilst travelling. It had such a friendly and homely feel to it!

I loved it all - the only thing that we thought was that it would’ve been nice if there was like a slight breakfast menu - such as maybe a smoothie bowl or anything. Only bevause we wanted to be lazy and stay there all morning at times but had to leave to get some breakfast!

The property was very well maintained and any issue we had was fixed quickly with a big smile from Angga or Wayan

Half of the driveway from the main road was quite bumpy, but expected as the property is a stand alone property on the Penida side of Ceningan.

We had a great stay at Butterfly Villas. - The view from the villa was just amazing, superb. The best view you can have on the island. - The host was very responsive, gave a lot of information and tips (best food/transportation/beaches) and did all to ensure you have a pleasant stay and was above all very friendly. - All details in the room were given thought off, e.g. the windows at the ceiling were you could see the stars at night was so nice. The room was spacious and clean, bathroom as well. - The swimming pool was big and you had the most amazing view looking to Nusa Penida.

Definitely the best view in Ceningan! It was beautiful. It is a little hard to get to the villas and a scooter is definitely needed. The villas are clean and the staff are friendly.

You have to request to get the rooms cleaned which I found unusual. It is also slightly isolated so it would be great if the hotel teamed up with the fantastic restaurant next door (Three Islands Bar) to provide breakfast.

There wasn't anything we didn't like but just wanted to mention somethings for others info. The staff are not there after about 5pm and there are no other accommodation places anywhere near so you may feel isolated (one night we were the only guests there) particularly if a lone female traveller. They do not supply shampoo or soap (other than a small cake upon arrival) or water. If you are not keen on walking you will definitely need a motorbike.

We loved everything about this place once we got there!!! They are beautifully designed and built! Comfortable and romantic, they even give you towels for the pool and THE VIEW!! Everything was wonderful!

It's very difficult to get to, even with a motorbike, so if you have lots of luggage you would never make it up. Views are worth it though if you can get up there though!

A true hidden gem with the best views of Nusa Penida from Nusa Ceningan. The bungalows are brand new, but built from traditional teak wood giving them a very warm and cosy feeling. The upper rooms have windows in the ceiling so at night you can stargaze from bed, zero light (and sound) pollution so absolutely amazing!!! In the morning you can wake up with the sunrise and breathtaking views... The staff is great; always there with a smile making sure you really enjoy your stay, happy to help arranging transportation and trips (to Penida also). Don't forget to tip them ;) I ended up staying 2,5 weeks; stayed in a standard double room, then in a junior suite and finally a family suite with sea view. The junior suite has a living room downstairs, the family suite has double beds up- and downstairs. Very comfortable beds. Since everything is wood you can sometimes hear your neighbours, so if you're staying with a family/ friends I'd recommend to book a family bungalow. The garden area has a mix of Bali/ Mediterranean/ Ibiza vibe, very peaceful and fresh because of the white walls and bright, big, pool. Various chill areas to enjoy the views from different angles. This place is perfect if you want to escape from the buzz, read a book in silence and just enjoy the views and meditate under the stars. It's a bit remote but totally worth it! The pictures do not represent the beauty and quality of the place, needs updating!! So you will not be disappointed if you decide to go here :) Enjoy!

The pictures of the rooms should be updated, the place looks much better! Simple breakfast (for example 2 options, to be selected the night before) at an additonal charge would be a nice service.

The Best Ever Vacation: A Paradise Getaway! I recently had the pleasure of staying at Butterfly Villas, and I must say, it was an absolutely perfect vacation! From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. Let's begin with the location, which can only be described as a paradise. The villa offers breathtaking views that are simply unbelievable. Waking up every morning to such a stunning vista, accompanied by the delightful melodies of chirping birds, was a truly magical experience. The villas themselves were incredibly cozy and provided all the comforts one could desire. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful sleep every night. I appreciated the presence of a kettle, as well as coffee and tea, allowing me to indulge in a hot beverage whenever I pleased. The bathroom, with its beautiful view, added an extra touch of luxury. Moreover, the provision of keys for all the lockers emphasized the commitment to guest safety, although it's worth mentioning that I never felt safer anywhere else. The staff at Butterfly Villas were exceptional in their friendliness and attentiveness. They went above and beyond to cater to our every need. From organizing our transportation to the villa with utmost care to being readily available for any assistance required, their service was truly outstanding. I highly recommend reaching out to them in advance for any arrangements you may need during your stay. In terms of dining options, the island boasts an array of delicious food, but a particular highlight was the Three Islands Bar, conveniently located near the Butterfly Villas. The staff at the bar were incredibly friendly as well, and to my surprise, they even invited me, an artist, to contribute to their ambiance by creating a mural on one of their walls. Don't forget to check it out during your visit! :)) To sum it up, choosing Butterfly Villas for your vacation is an absolute no-brainer.

In summary, I enjoyed my stay at Butterfly Villas and was satisfied with everything. However, there are a few aspects that potential guests should be aware of to set realistic expectations. Firstly, as the villas are nestled in the heart of nature, it's important to understand that insects and animals such as mosquitoes, ants, frogs, and geckos are a part of the environment. So, don't be surprised if you encounter them during your stay. Some negative reviews mentioned issues with the Wi-Fi. While it's true that the Wi-Fi connection can be sporadic, I personally didn't find it to be a major problem. After all, one doesn't visit such a beautiful location just to spend all their time online. So, I recommend embracing the opportunity to disconnect and enjoy the surroundings. On the island, the main mode of transportation is typically motorbikes due to the narrow roads. It's worth noting that not all motorbikes are in pristine condition, and the quality may not always meet your expectations. In our case, we rented a motorbike from the beginning, but unfortunately, it wasn't in the best condition. Despite the friendly advice from the villa staff to change it, we mistakenly kept it until the end of our stay. To sum it up, if you choose Butterfly Villas, it's important to keep in mind that the comfort level might not match what you have at home. However, this shouldn't deter you from having an incredible and unique experience. Embrace the opportunity to immerse yourself in nature and enjoy all the amazing things the villa and its surroundings have to offer.

we loved the stay! friendly stuff, very helpful and the accommodation is very peaceful. but: not central, the way is a bit tricky but to manage. we loved it.

The views from the pool and room were breathtaking. The staff were excellent, and we even met the owner who made us feel welcome. Highly recommend if you want a place away from the hustle and bustle.

What a great view! Also very friendly local staff who is willing to help with whatever you need. The room looks beautifull and very spacious.

The location is up hill and far out from the main road. The road to the hotel is very bumpy, especially the last 200m, it gets slippery when it's rainy. There are no shops and only 1 restaurant closeby. The hotel offers no food so for every meal you have get on the challenging road again. The room looks great but almost no furniture so all your luggage needs to be put on the floor. Also no shampoo or showergel and the bed is pretty hard. Staff leaves at 5pm so if you are the only guest, you're on your own. Also nobody from other hotels or restaurants closeby. For us in this season when the rain can get very heavy, this was not a safe feeling. They provide an emergency number, but nobody picks up. You should take these things in mind when you book this hotel.

I lived here for a week. The hotel is on the opposite side of the island away from anything. And this is at the same time the best point of this hotel, but at the same time it can be the worst. I was the only guest for most of the week and it was wonderful, although at first it was very scary. Nevertheless, I managed to relax, it is quite safe there. I had to learn to ride a bike. It was my best week in Bali

The road to the hotel is very bad, so you will need to rent a bike and stock up on supplies in advance. The Internet is bad, you will not be able to work there. Of the minuses is also good audibility. One day guests came in my bungalow to the first floor and I woke up at night from the fact that someone was coughing or moving.

The staff Anga is incredible. Beautiful secluded location. Super clean facilities.

The owner was a creep. If he’s not there you’re fine. He was playing loud music when I was there. Came for peace and quiet. I had a terrible incident. I left some stuff at the Villa and tried to get it back. The owner was drunk when I got in contact with him on WhatsApp and he hit on me it was super uncomfortable. I never got my stuff back either - he tried to convince me not to write this about the stay due to the staff yet he didn’t take ownership of his behavior. I feel like other women who travel alone should just be careful which is why I feel like sharing my experience.

Incredible view ! And lovely clean rooms. Excellent support from the staff.

1) Cabin accommodation style was exactly as shown on booking.com 2) The on-site supervisor (Angga) was an excellent host 3) The manager (Martin) was responsive to our queries before arrival and assisted us with all transfers.

1) The presence of a dog on the premises living with guests who were there before and during our stay was a huge disappointment. Nothing was done about our complaint to Martin and we had to contend with smelly and filthy dog poo in the area as well as the dog not on leash disturbing us. If you declare a "no pets policy" then you must enforce it please 2) The upper lodge had a leak through the sunroof during the 3 days of heavy rain and we had to use towels on the bed to absorb it

the location is wonderful, the view and nature are stunning. infinity pool and your done;) you need a scooter to get to restaurants etc but this is not expensive at all and the peace and quiet you experience at Butterfly Villa is more then worth it :)

Great view! Beautiful pool. The host helped me to find a motorbike driver immediately because they don’t have Grab on the island and I’m scared to drive. I couldn’t imagine what would I do without it.

I liked the peace and calm about this place. It has a unique setting and I was lucky to be gifted with a stunning sunrise, though it had meant to wake up early, as suggested by the owner. Evenings here are equally magical. The staff was fantastic. I was served a very good coffee and omelette, all according to my requests. I was also given a free lift back to yellow bridge harbor. Beds were super comfy. There is a nice inn on the way there up on the hill where you can get a beer, drinks and meals. Great value for money.

I think this place suffers from being a bit far and from a bad road condition. I had troubles finding locals to get me there. Either you will test your scooter driving qualities a little or may be left to hike. The WiFi was a bit weak, but that's just ok for a place like this. The upper pool was out of service. I would like to have a few more shelves and a little more space around the toilet - great idea and view, but not much space for legs.
