An exceptional, superb, unique place

The instant messaging system was a real plus, allowing for real-time coordination of arrivals (plane landing, taxi transfer to Sanur Harbor, then taxi within the island); this level of service made everything incredibly smooth. The same was true for departures, where everything could be planned in advance. The resort itself is as discreet as it is beautiful. All the villas have green roofs, seamlessly blending the structure into the natural surroundings. The arrival is remarkably discreet and guarantees a "wow" effect from the moment you step inside. The staff's service is impeccable. I particularly appreciated their advice on exploring the island and their flexibility regarding destinations that were a little off the beaten path. I also appreciated the eco-friendly aspect, with many details, including the use of glass water bottles from arrival and throughout our stay, demonstrating their concern for the environmental impact of their services on the island. The resort itself is truly a discovery in its own right. The main infinity pool with its adjoining bar, perched high above the property, offers incredible views of the bay. Each villa also has its own private pool on the same level. The hotel offers a wide variety of high-quality breakfasts. Lunch and dinner are also available on-site, which is a real plus, with a great selection of dishes and drinks. There's also a spa that's definitely worth trying, as well as a gym and yoga studio. For us (a group of five, all with the same opinion), it was a perfect experience; it's a truly unique and unexpected place, one we'd gladly return to.

If paradise was a destination, here would be it !

The villas are peaceful, the setting is beautiful, and the staff are kind, polite, and attentive. The team went out of their way to make our stay special, offering us complimentary spa treatments and a lovely afternoon tea, which was a real highlight. It’s clear they genuinely care about ensuring guests leave with a positive experience. A tranquil spot to relax and unwind, with service that makes you feel valued.

There are a few small areas that could be improved, some of the facilities and rooms are starting to look a little tired and would benefit from some updating, and the in-room amenities could be explained more clearly. For example I would give instructions on how to use your coffee machine and a leaflet explaining that a mosquito bed net is available…. Just a few small finishes that would improve guess understanding. However, the warmth and effort of the staff more than made up for these details.

Menu is elaborate which is fantastic however flavours of some dishes could be improved slightly. Presentation was spot on. Really liked the juices/morning shots.

The Maua is the most beautiful unexpected place to stay. The staff, the location, the accom- all is absolutely amazing!

The bumpy road leading into the resort, sometimes housekeeping was a bit remiss.

Doesn’t really deserve the rating. I advise you to book at other place close to harbor. Not worth the money at all.

food was good and view was good.

Staff were so much useless. I requested for an upgrade before I pay my booking, the provided me with the additional cost which was a lot. Then I payed for my already booked room and later I found the price for upgrade on booking is half what they mentioned to me after I paid. They said I can’t do the upgrade on booking and they didn’t even try to help. I went for lunch and told them to properly clean the room just after my check in as I found mosquito in the room. After I came back from lunch they knocked asking can we clean now. Means no one cleaned while I was out. It was the only hotel in my vacation at bali (out of 5 different hotel) who request additional payment for food in room. The location is in the middle of nowhere and far away from harbor, at least 250k IDR for taxi to go from hotel to anywhere or even to hotel. Hotel is so much expensive compared to all other stays in bali or even in Nusa Penida, the room was so much basic with no bathtub nor balcony, only normal view to trees, but price is equivalent to private villa with private pool in bali at 4-5 stars hotel.

Homey moon in nusa penida

The resort is amazing and from the pool there is a stunning view of the valley, the sea and the nature.

The road to arrive to the hotel is complicated and you have to be very carefully if arriving with motorbike.

Superb quality, astonishing site - five star experience

Totally amazing, very friendly, highly skilled staff. Wonderful pool with astonishing view. Nice mixture of balineze and international cuisine, high quality, delicious dishes. Superb spa services.

Overall the roads of Nusa Penida are totally devastated, but I guess a 5star hotel like this should invest to some road maintanence. Also, some of the services adverted are not available due to the third party yoga instructor (you should arrange such needs days before your arrival). While the location is awesome, not so much to do in the nearby, and as the roads are awfully bad condition, the hotel does not provide scooter renting due to safety reasons.

Stunning location and spectacular views. If you can stretch to a pool villa its completely worth it, watching the sunset from your private infinity pool is an unforgettable experience.

The journey there, it wasn't easy to get a response from the hotel to book our boat transfer. In the end I had to call up to check that our boat was booked as I got no confirmation via email.

Perfect - I want to come back

Had an amazing stay at Maua. Probably the best hotel, with the best views, I’ve ever been at. The pictures online doesn’t do this place justice. Looks so much better in real life. Got an upgrade to a Pool villa, and it was the most beautiful hotel room, I’ve ever stayed in. If you ever stay here, get the room with the private pool! Its worth it. Staff was great, got a really good massage at the spa, great food at the restaurant. 10/10 can’t recommend enough if you’re ever visiting Nusa Penida

If I have to say something, the gym could have some more equipment, like a a cable machine and some heavier weights. Other than that I have nothing negative to say.

Spectacular views. Perfect for a romantic getaway.

There's one main reason for someone to stay at MAUA and this is the villa's views. Nothing can describe the views from each and every villa. Simply breathtaking.

We requested for a driver to pick us up from the harbour the night before but sadly, once we arrived at the harbour, the driver wasn't there as he was stuck in traffic and we had to wait 10-15 mins. I don't really find this a proper 5* hotel service. We then took a local driver and went to the hotel. Upon check in, we complained to the Manager about our experience and he was very arrogant. Yet again, not an expected 5* hotel customer service experience. Another downside of the hotel is that once you request for a buggy to pick you up from your villa (the walk is quite steep and long), the buggy always takes 15 mins +, compared to other hotels were it just takes 5 mins.

Beautiful luxury, remote location.

The property and facilities were beautiful as well as the views. The hosts were lovely, very helpful and patient. The spa was also beautiful, and the massage was amazing.

Although the restaurant was beautiful and the food was great, it would have been good to have more options because of the remote location. There were plenty of bugs around so keeping them out of the room was a bit of a task and it's very much a place to go and lounge, not a lot of easily accessible activities.

My wife and I stayed at Maua Nusa Penida for three nights and from the moment we arrived we were blown away . The view from this resort is nothing short of spectacular our villa had an even more unforgettable view . We had breakfast, lunch and Dinner and thoroughly enjoyed every meal we had . The staff were so friendly and helpful nothing was ever too much trouble . We stayed at four Hotels on our Bali trip and this one is a must return.

Best Honeymoon Stay in South East Asia.

Herry (Potter) accomodates to us like a magician. One of the best services anyone could ask for. Best place for honeymooners with beautiful scenery of the Bay and sunset from our bed. Food services are tip top and peaceful environment of nature surrounding us throughout our stay. Thank you Herry and the staff team who serve us well with tip top care. We will be back.

Stunning views, and the room was absolutely beautiful. The pool area, bar, restaurant and library area all very clean and beautifully designed. We had a couples massage which was probably the best massage we’ve ever had. The reception team went out of their way to accommodate anything we needed help with (transport) and we’re very friendly.

The hotel was busy that night so it would have been advisable to share we should have booked a table for our evening meal. Instead we walked into a very busy restaurant and asked to take a seat at the bar but we were forgotten about by the bar staff and waiters for a good 20/30 minutes sadly. This won’t be our lasting memory as it was a fantastic stay, but for 5 star you don’t expect that.

Top class service in an incredible location!

I had an incredible experience at Maua Hotel! The service was absolutely top class, and the 2-bedroom villa we stayed in was stunning. The breakfast was excellent, and I must give a special shoutout to all the staff who made our stay memorable. Hory and Miki went above and beyond to take care of us when we fell ill, and their care was truly exceptional. Thank you, Maua Hotel, for an unforgettable stay!

The breakfast was fantastic with a wide variety of choices that we really enjoyed. However, we felt that for dinner the quality was slightly below par for the price paid and there wasn't much variety for those who don’t eat seafood or spicy. Offering more diverse dinner options would greatly enhance the overall guest experience.
