Amazing stay in lake Como

Everything was excellent, we had a great time. The apartment had every thing we needed even during the rainy weather. Really central to everything, including ferries to see the other towns as there’s not much to do in Varenna.

Wonderful place at a great location

The apartment is at a great location, within walking distance from the train station (10-15 minutes), ferry stop (5 minutes) and close to all the nice restaurants and places to visit. It was clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The getting in instructions were very detailed and clear.

We had a wonderful stay at the Varrena House. We felt we were well taken care of by the host.

We loved the location. It was very close to the attractions. The host was very responsive. They tried to meet all our requests any time.

When we went to to Lake Como, the weather was very hot. We needed to open the windows in the kitchen and dining area. Wish there were screens for the windows.

Excellent location, poor air con not for hot summer.

Excellent location. Good communication from the host with clear instruction how to get door keys and reach the apartment. The lake view is wonderful. The flat is spacious.

I knew the air conditioning was very weak from previous reviews and asked the host to provide a fan for our bedroom a few days in advance. Unfortunately, he told me there was no fan available though it was in high summer near 40°C. The 3 nights stay was not comfortable because of the heat. Paying over €200 a night (without breakfast or even a bottle of water) is not value for money.

Beautiful view, and good location

Beautiful view of the lake; a bit of a walk from the train station with luggage but no taxis available. Thankfully, like many places in Varenna, you did not have to negotiate lots of stairs to get to the apartment. It was very clean. We were given directions to the key box and the apartment address so we felt very on our own. The manager did check in by text after our arrival.

The air conditioner was located in the hall behind a door. It wasn't adequate for the apartment. The living room and kitchen on a hot day were quite warm and there should have been an AC unit for that area. Unlike some places I've rented, there were no napkins, paper towels, and barely enough toilet paper for our stay. No wi-fi which was stated in the description but I missed it, something to be aware of. At the price, I would have expected wifi.

Great location and views. Needs AC upgrade for summer

Location was great - right in the centre of things and lovely view from loungeroom.

Apartment was advertised as air-conditioned, however, it had one small unit in a hallway, not in bedrooms or living area and completely insufficient to cool the space. No fan supplied either - this made it uncomfortably hot in June. Communication in Booking.com messages was very slow with responses.

Lovely spacious apartment with amazing como view

The view of lake Como is really fabulous! There are two bedrooms and feel very spacious. The instruction for check in is clear and easy to follow. Apartment is on ground floor with no stairs involved from where bus stop was so very convenient with luggage.

Varenna is a beautiful town and not ridiculously crowded like some nearby places.

Very clear instructions from the host. Even including photos so we didn't get lost. Everything was where it should be and easy to gain access to our apartment.

A bit frustrating

The instructions were confusing. Apartment was at 37. Keys were at 5. Parking down the street. The owner said we could put our luggage in before 3pm but the lady at the keys said no and then yelled at us when we came back to get the luggage.

Our "home"in beautiful Varenna

A very cute and comfortable apartment in the center of Varenna. With a beautiful view of the lake, well decorated. It was clean and equipped kitchen.It is located two steps from restaurants and shops. Our landlord Vittorio was also available, kind and helpful.

Some shades on the windows, would be really necessary.

Clean and comfortable apartment with great Lake views. Good communication prior to arrival from host with clear directions which made locating the property and collecting the keys easy. Good location within the centre of Varenna providing easy access to restaurants, bakery and ferry.

Great apartment overlooking the beautiful lake!

The apartment is in a great location, the views are fantastic! We really enjoyed our stay, very helpful and welcoming staff. The apartment has everything you need, washing machine, clothes drying rack, dishwasher, coffee machine, kettle and basic cooking utensils.

The fry pans need updating.

Varenna on Lake Como- an unbeatable place to travel to!

The views out of the windows of this apartment will leave you speechless- they are off the charts beautiful! The apartment was nicely furnished and spacious. The apartment is not far from the train station and the main area of Varenna. Put on your comfy shoes as there are hundreds of steps to be walked up and down the beautiful alleys of Varenna. There is a market and pharmacy nearby and down by the water there are a lot of shops and restaurants. It was wonderful to take the ferry and explore Bellagio. Sunsets here are gorgeous and water views are unparalleled! We found Varenna less touristy and quaint than Bellagio.

Unless they can make Varenna flat there isn't anything more we could have asked for !

The water didn't run when we came back from dinner and we had been trying to contact the host many times, he picked up once and said he will inform the owner but he can't help to fix, after that I tried to contact him again to follow up and ask if he could suggest any other place to shower or find water, he switched off his phone n nvr return the call. The worst experience ever for not helpful and irresponsible

I booked a two-room/two-bed apartment but the one of the beds didn’t have sheets and pillow case. Why does the owner make the assumption that the second bed is not needed without confirmation? Why I’m paying for two rooms if I only need one?

Fantasic town and this property was ideally located to explore, views of lake from the windows were incredible. Great amount of space and facilities were good.

Some bedroom windows required blinds, no privacy. Air conditioning was not effective for space during the hot nights (supply of fans would have easily addressed this)

Séjour agréable dans une location à la hauteur de nos attentes

Appartement spacieux et confortable, disposant de tout les équipements dont nous avions besoin pour notre séjour. La salle à manger et la cuisine offrent une vue assez large sur le lac de Côme, ce qui est très agréable et donne un vrai plus à cette location. La situation géographique est parfaite. Il suffit d'emprunter un des nombreuses petites ruelles avec escalier pour rejoindre en à peine deux minutes le bord du lac et accéder à de nombreux restaurants, magasins de souvenir et surtout le port duquel partent les ferry pour Belagio, Menaggio, etc... Nous avons apprécié notre séjour dans cet appartement.

Le seul couac est une absence d'eau chaude lorsque nos sommes arrivés. Seul un mince filet d'eau froide coulait des robinets en position "eau chaude". Nous avons contacté le propriétaire via WhatsApp qui a répondu rapidement mais ne comprenait pas d'où venait le problème. Il envisageait de se déplacer le lendemain matin lorsque, en sortant de la douche (prise froide) j'ai remarqué deux vannes placées sous un radiateur. L'une des deux était fermée. Après l'avoir ouverte, l'eau chaude a coulé normalement... j'ai repris une douche et prévenu le propriétaire. S'agit-il d'une blague du précédent locataire ? Mystère. Quoiqu'il en soit, il n'est jamais agréable de subir ce genre de désagrément lorsqu'on est en vacances.
