BEDBUG ALERT!!! CHEAP FOR A REASON, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

OK location, decently cheap for 2 nights, good modern student accom Extremely fast and good WiFi, 250mbps, easy to sign up to, lasts for a year for free

BEDBUG ALERT!!! Found a bedbug 2nd night on my 2 night stay so that means I slept the first night with one about :) big silverfish Tbh they had 2 of these "insect monitor" boxes in the room so maybe this is a known problem for them? Who knows?? EDIT - it has been 3 months since I first filed my complaints with the property/accommodation management itself and booking.com and I have not seen a single penny of my money returned and we are not close to any sort of a resolution. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE and find something actually worth your money. Room was boiling cos the window can't open all the way due to it being student halls ig and the bathroom fan didn't work so it just made the room even more hot during the heatwave. It was like half the temperature outside at night, whilst it was boiling indoors! No bin provided, told to put rubbish in the "rubbish area", asked about where this is via the booking.com chat and no reply. Just continuous boilerplate long ass messages filled with details. Constantly got these messages a few days before check-in. Have to do an online check-in that involves too many steps and provide ID. At night there's only security guard on call which is fair since this isn't a serviced hotel so they aren't able to do much (e.g. Move you to a different room in case of bedbug) and during the day it seems the day staff are there really to take care of the student accommodation mostly, hence the "hotel" organisers asking you to contact them via other faceless not in person channels. Kitchen was "off-Limits" and a sign was on the door saying not to enter, you may be charged which is a joke as there is no fridge in rooms so how are we supposed to keep our drinks cool. Cool drinks were melting with condensation in the boiling room.

Very basic as listed but comfortable Bed was comfortable Note no fridge or kettle Note as per check in message no access allowed to kitchen or lounge facilities

Cleanliness well below expectations - sink blocked with old hair and wouldn’t drain, old dried malodorous urine stains on the back of the toilet porcelain - definitely not cleaned to standard prior to check in Both these issues immediately raised via message communication on check in as that was the only avenue - property staff not accessible. I had confirmation of message on day 4 providing an email to send images as couldn’t be sent in the app. Same done immediately. Now four more days later, I have checked out, still have had no communication and these issues remain unresolved. Very disappointed No rubbish bin in the room

It was an affordable and comfortable room located just off the city centre and Aston University.

I actually arrived around 20 minutes prior to the specified check in time and the host was nice enough to let me into my room then. I appreciated this very much, as it allowed me to get back to my conference on time.

There did not seem to be a bin available in the room. There was a bin blocking the kitchen entrance that was full, but I was not positive if that was meant to be used by guests or not. Clearer instructions about what to do with rubbish would have been helpful.

Superb

Absolutely enjoyed my stay at Penworks House! The rooms were cosy and having a fridge in each unit was quite handy. The hostel is ideally situated close to Birmingham's city centre and multiple points of interest, including the Library of Birmingham and the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter. Would highly recommend for anyone seeking both comfort and a prime location."

My door lock did not work when I arrived. I had to apply pressure to the staff to get it fixed or doing it best to assure me that it was not a problem. room for cigarette smoking I was told I was not able to swap rooms. The mattress was very thin and uncomfortable that I feel the wood underneath while trying to sleep.

the fact that the room was managed by a 3rd arty and not the host was a pain, I had a leak in my room that was not attended to, water has eventually turned off leaving me with the only option to go to another room to floors up to use the shower and toilet. not great at all

La struttura é vicina al centro e al campus della Aston University, a 10 minuti dal conservatorio. Il personale é molto disponibile e gentile. É tutto automatizzato e il letto é molto comodo.

Non é troppo pulito. Il pavimento non era spazzato, il bagno non era pulitissimo e la hall era piena di sacchi di cose non ben definite. I servizi sono molto basic.
