Family Apartment by Tyzenhauz

This was the first time that we have hired a three bedroom flat due to the addition of a grand parent to our holiday, but I was amazed at how big the flat was. All of the bedrooms were large doubles with balconies or in one case a big glass door. The presence of 2 x WCs was useful. The parking was an essential requirement and to find a three bedroomed flat with parking so close to the centre of Krakow was not easy. We had also noted its proximity to a tram stop in view of my mother's advanced age, which we used once or twice as an alternative to the walk into town. Similarly the lift to the 3rd floor flat was a godsend. The area was quite, although at night with the windows open for ventilation there was noise from the railway. The balcony along the front of the flat was nice. I also appreciated the ability to access English speaking news channels on the TV. I should add that the nearby cemetery is a must see, with Polish, Soviet and German war graves, as well as a beautiful Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery.

There were no instructions for the cooker hob, which took a few days to work out. When we arrived the oven was on top of a full size fridge, which made it inaccessible until I was able to put it onto a work top. The key fob for the garage door was also hidden in a cupboard and took a long while to find when we arrived. However, the only major faults were: The absence of capable air conditioning, as there was a single unit for a three bedroomed flat and; the awful mattresses. I am unsure whether this is a Polish thing, as our last flat in the country had the same thin excuse for a mattress. We had to get the duvets and the spare bedding and double them over, placing them all under us to prevent waking up feeling bruised. Twice bitten, on our next trip to Poland we will be taking roll up air mattresses! However, I would happily return to this flat.
