Casa Riverstone

A nice stay in Casa Riverstone. Lovely setting. We used the service for laundry which we desperately needed! Nice pool area. Comfortable and clean.

We felt it was a little expensive compared to other places in the area

Great pool. Calm location, a bit further from the citycentre but definitely walkable. Clean shared bathroom & (most of the) room.

Didn’t get much from the staff. They only talk to you if you ask them somethingl. We felt a little bit like intruders in their own house. No free filtered water available. You have to pay for warm filtered water. Bedroom is spacious with good AC but found feces of bats (we think??) on my bed everyday…

This hotel/hostel has such great potential and we liked lots of things; We booked the private room with its own bathroom, which was v spacious. Nice hot and fairly powerful shower Good air con and fan Lovely pool area for chilling Fridge/freezer in the common area which is free to use Water refill for a small fee (10 Cordoba) - it was great not to have to constantly get water from the shops. Great location - 5 min walking distance to great bars and restaurants Booking excursions - they booked our volcano tour and organised the tour guide to pick us up directly from the hostel The family who own / run the place have a cute cat who roams around and is very friendly.

There was a bikini in our room when we arrived, so it makes me worry that the rooms are not thoroughly checked and cleaned between uses. Bed was pretty uncomfortable in the private room - it was warped towards the middle so we were constantly slipping inwards. Additionally we were confused about the sheets. The bed was made when we arrived, but there were more sheets on top of the bed. So we didn’t know which were actually clean. Only gave us one towel and one pillowcase at first, even though I booked for two people. Sink is the weirdest shape - it’s impossible to wash your hands without touching the sink or the tap. Some of the staff were incredibly unfriendly - especially the lady who makes breakfast. We felt like we were always an inconvenience to her. Plus she got our order wrong on two of the days and was very stingy with the breakfast items e.g. made us pay extra for butter and a splash of milk for 1 coffee. The only nice staff member was Cristina who helped to book our volcano tour. Additionally, we made some friends in the hostel and they tried to charge them after they’d checked out for staying in the common area for 1.5 hours - beware of this, it does not mention anywhere on Booking. It’s such a shame because there are so many great things about this hostel/hotel. I totally get that they need to cut costs, but it sometimes felt like everything was an extra charge and that we were intruding.
