The Briers Country House

Great place and location, staff is fantastic and very dog friendly my dog loved the walks located a short distance away. Newcastle sea front, Tully more forest and Castlewellan forest park, Moor lough nature reserve and Dundrum Castle . Could not make one complaint! Definitely will be back again.

Our room was spotlessly clean, excellent bathroom and shower facilities with very good water pressure in the shower. All set in a beautiful country surroundings.

Breakfast was a little disappointing. We knew it was continental only on booking. However, the range of cereals and breads on offer was somewhat limited and disappointing.

The bedroom ( room 6) was a good size and very well equipped. The beds were very comfortable. The continental breakfast, albeit completely self service, was fresh and offered a lot of choice. Reasonable overnight rates for a room.

Resembled a functional country motel more than a B&B. The initial appearance of the outside of the property was run down. Lots of weeds in driveway and exterior walls badly in need of a coat of fresh paint. The windows look in need of repair/upgrade. This despite the installation of what looks like an outdoor hot tub! The common areas of the interior also reflect neglect. Old worn carpet needing replacing asap; walls badly scuffed and pitted with plaster holes. Just a general lack of being cared for. We were astonished that there was no one there to welcome us and actually we saw no -one from management throughout our overnight stay. Disappointing.
