Toast Stays - Crossgate Cottage

An excellent property with well equipped modern kitchen & superb bathroom.

Problems with internet connection on arrival that wasn't fixed until following morning, very inconvenient! Property info only available by QR code on wall which was missing & of little use anyway if you don't have a smartphone. I would strongly suggest that a traditional folder detailing how facilities work be provided instead of relying on the internet.

Lounge very comfortable and relaxing, rooms well decorated and light and airy. Location perfect. Hills challenging with suitcases but were fit so ok

The second bedroom door didn’t shut properly and the downstairs toilet could have a light that goes on without the extractor fan - but these are minor things

Honestly, this is a perfect place if you are visiting Durham and the location is even better than one thinks. Durham is a very hilly city and location really matters. It's just a short stroll to the city centre over a medieval footbridge, but the unexpected plus for this house is that it's just a 2 minute stroll to the bus station. It's likely guests staying a few days will want to visit nearby locations which take 30-90 minutes by bus. The house is really great. Everything works well and there are sensible quantities of kitchenware and things you need like rubbish bags and dishwasher tablets. A good shower, a good TV and decent bed linen and towels.

We couldn't open the front door lock upon arrival but phoned for help and they sent a nice friendly man. To be honest, it was probably just that we were very tired, though the door opens to the right rather than to the left as is more common. There wasn't really anything we didn't like.
