Nice cottage, great location.
Located very close to the town centre as long as you don’t mind a 20% gradient climb back each time. Still, the Lakes are hilly and it’s stated clearly in the description that the property is up a hill. The cottage is spacious inside with all the amenities you would need to enjoy self catering. The front garden is private, enclosed, and a real sun trap when the weather is nice. There is a lovely walk right out the cottage to the left that affords beautiful views of Lake Windermere. Great powerful shower and a smart TV which was unexpected but appreciated. Gill (owner) was easy to deal with and responsive to questions and issues (see below re the neighbours).
It honestly could have been cleaner. Nothing major, but I moved the bed in the single room as we were packing to leave to retrieve something that dropped down there and was a bit horrified to see the dirt behind the bed. I know it’s a dog friendly property (but no dogs should be upstairs) but the carpets throughout seemed quite grubby in general and it just looks like it needs a good deep clean. The decor and furniture are old and tired, including the beds and pillows which weren’t very comfortable. The parking is very tight. I have a medium sized SUV (Volvo XC60) and there is no way a car of that size or larger can fit behind the bricks. I managed to get mine more or less in by parking diagonally but anyone with a larger car would struggle. Also the entrance lane to the rear of the property is very hard to navigate in and verging on dangerous to exit due to the overgrown vegetation on the right as you exit. The neighbors in Oak Bank cottage at the end of the terrace are very unpleasant and we had to endure their dogs barking and howling for almost 3h one afternoon/evening. Clearly displeased by my message about this to the owners of Ramblers Cottage, she was verbally abusive to my 11yo daughter and I as we arrived back as she was leaving a couple of days later, and she deliberately drove so close she almost touched us and our dogs then proceeded to leave her car and shout obscenities, basically told us we weren’t welcome because we were ‘only visitors’ and that i should ‘wind my neck in’. Totally uncalled for. It made us very uneasy as she seemed like the type that would be vengeful and I worried about the safety of my vehicle when I wasn’t there. Thankfully they weren’t there for most of the time we were. The neighbours would put me off staying here again.

Lovely cottage, clean with good facilities, well positioned for Bowness.
Everything was as described. The cottage is in a great location for exploring Bowness and Lake Windermere and beyond. There is a walk up/down the hill between the cottage and bowness to be aware of if you are elderly or frail.
Nothing to note that isn't described in the listing.

Good location
Good location, had everything we needed. The garden is a good sun trap.
Bars on the gate and at the side were wide enough for a medium-sized dog to escape. It needs some neting also under wooden fence . Cottage could do with a deep clean.

Lovely property, well located, enjoyable week (bar weather!)
Location, clean, comfortable, well equipped.
Not a dislike, but a suggestion that bushes could do with being cut back!

unfortunately the week we stayed the weather was very mixed. Never mind, there was so much to do.
The location to the town was great. It was up hill from the town but kept us fit. The view point near to property was superb. There was parking at the rear of the property for a small to medium size car. The beds were comfy and the Furnishings were good.
We wish the property had been a little cleaner. We had to buy a tin opener.

Ramblers Cottage review
Cosy, homely, well equipped and pet friendly cottage in a great location, with parking for one vehicle at the rear. No need to use the car unless you want to venture further afield though, as there's lots of walks from the door and plenty of places to eat and drink - Bowness is just down the hill, it's not far up to the centre of Windermere and there's even a great viewpoint just up the road. We also enjoyed watching the fighter jets from the bottom end of the lake (it was like having our own private air show). There was excellent communication prior to our stay - thanks again Gill! We all had a lovely, relaxing week and would return :) Note: One well behaved pet is allowed on request for a reasonable additional charge - our dog has as good a time as we did :)
No real complaints and we really enjoyed our stay :) Just a few points to note: - You have to be very careful at the top of the stairs as the different levels take a bit of getting used to (note that there are stair gates fitted both top and bottom if you need them). - A second toilet really would be ideal (appreciate it's an old cottage though). - The furniture configuration in the lounge is not great for watching the TV, but we easily adjusted it to suit and then moved it back before we left. - The front door (directly onto the lounge) letterbox can be a bit annoying when it's windy.

A glorious, perfectly situated cozy and warm cottage, right in the middle of Bowness on Windermere.
the property was clean, very comfortable, in an excellent location. It was quiet, had a wonderful kitchen , the beds were very comfortable. Lovely lounge with a great tv with Netflix for film watching. The hosts were lovely and responded very quickly. A fantastic find and one we shall be returning to.
