Large, stylish apartment in prime location

Large apartment in a great area. Comfortable bed and nice furnishings, especially in the living room. Owners were lovely and responded immediately to any query. It ticked all the requirements of my one night stay.

Some appliances would benefit from some TLC or replacing, notably the kettle which was so full of limescale it didn't pour well at all. Cutlery needed a wash before use. The plug in the shower didn't drain well, upon inspection it was completely full of hair.

The property was close to the seafront

Unfortunately, the apartment wasn’t properly cleaned. There was a lot of dust in the bedroom and living room, which caused me to have a blocked nose and sneeze continuously. Many of the mugs and spoons were dirty, and there was even broken pasta on the floor. The heating didn’t work through the thermostat as described — I had to spend over an hour figuring out how to switch it on manually at the boiler because it was freezing at night. Additionally, the bed setup we had specifically requested wasn’t done, even though the host had asked in advance. When I reached out about these issues, the responses were dismissive, and we were told there was nothing they could do.

A great stay in a brilliant location. We would come again.

The location was brilliant. We were able to walk the seafront, the common and to Old Portsmouth. The apartment has been tastefully restored by Louise to keep its Edwardian features and was very comfortable. The view from the windows across the common was amazing.

The 65 steps up to the apartment ! But it was absolutely worth the climb.

Summer vibe 🌳

Clean, bright, spacious. Beautiful trees, allowing glimpses of passing shipping! Appreciated being supplied with washing up liquid, shampoo etc. Ample range of cooking utensils etc Host very responsive with information about the area, use of taxis etc. Felt fitter after a few rounds of climbing the stairs! Friendly neighbours @ the ground floor added to a good vibe about the space.

All fine. 😀 A hand rail for those last stairs inside the flat would be an added bonus!🥵

Great location, spacious apartment - great break for a family of four

Nice sized rooms - plenty of space for a family of four. Comfortable furniture, traditionally decorated which we loved (particularly the free standing bath). Great location - 5 min walk across the park to the beach. 6 min walk to a big Waitrose.

Very convenient location, 5 mins walk from the D day Museum

Louise and Liam were lovely and very helpful, and Louise was thankfully there to help with our luggage up the stairs.

I hadn’t noticed, when booking, that there were 65 stair steps up to the apartment, but fortunately Louise was there and arrived our luggage up for us! Superwoman!

Great apartment in convenient location

Lovely and spacious apartment with plenty of character, loved the ‘ye olde’ decor supplemented with modern tech where necessary. Location is perfect for Southsea pier and beach with shops/restaurants in other direction. The hosts were very helpful and gave all the necessary info with helpful guidance so you know exactly what to do on arrival.

If I wanted to be hyper critical the only suggestions will be shelf space in bathroom and kitchen towels to use but nothing to lose sleep over!

Beautiful flat, great location, super hosts !

Charming flat, beautifully decorated with obvious love and care. The rooms are all light and spacious. Fabulous location next to the common and easy walking distance to the town and promenade. The hosts are very quick to respond to any messages and give excellent location and parking advice in advance. Our second stay here and hope to return

Location excellent. Clean and serviceable. Comfortable beds to ensure a good night’s sleep. Comfortable seating and ample for the size of the property. Hosts prompt at replying if unsure about anything.

Warned in advance but a hike up those stairs! Host greeted us and helped with baggage - thank you. Surfaces/storage in bathroom would be appreciated.

Wonderful stay !!

Beautiful apartment, very clean and well-equipped. It's very well located and the view is superb. The owners are very friendly and live right next door. Louise visited us to check everything was okay and show us how to use the coffee percolator. Thank you for everything, Louise ! We will come back with great pleasure!

The apartment has a welcoming feell. It is very clean and had everything we needed. It is spacious and has great views from each room. It was lovely to meet Louise.

Only thing to say is, we wish we had more time to spend there. We had only 2 nights and had a great day at the historic Port, but there was lots more to do here.

We always enjoy Portsmouth but think this property is better suited to younger guests.

The apartment on the whole is tastefully decorated with some nice furniture and a nice atmosphere. It was peaceful for the first two nights of our three night stay. The view is great although couldn’t really see the sea due to the trees being in full leaf. All the rooms are a good size with plenty of storage. Bed was very comfortable. Good communication from host and good information which meant an easy check in and parking found quickly. Left our car all weekend as the bus stop is five minutes away with a regular service to shops and Old Portsmouth. Good location to access bars and restaurants, friendly locals very chatty. No noise disturbance from the Jolly Sailor pub across the road despite it being weekend.

Although the information states there is no lift, no clear indication of just how many stairs there are was given until just before our stay. We knew there were stairs but we both struggled as may other older people or someone with reduced mobility although other reviews do highlight the stairs. Since the photos were taken the shower has been moved in front of a window which definitely needs a blind or some other covering as there are a number of tall buildings overlooking the property. The water pressure is also quite low but probably due to being on the top floor and maybe caused an issue we had with the toilet on the last night which hadn’t been used all day. No toiletries provided although information stated they would be and towels were stained although we brought our own with us too. An iron was available but no ironing board.

Southsea stay

Location as it was walkable into Southsea town. The weather was as expected cold and wet so it meant a short taxi ride to Gunwharf Quays and Old Portsmouth. The apartment was big and comfortable .

The shower was small and poor water flow. If you are a really big guy you would struggle to get inside. But there was also a bath if needed. The apartment was cold on arrival 12.5 c. But central heating was good and soon warmed up via Hive thermostat. We were really lucky with parking so didn't move the car on our short stay.

Perfect location with lovely views. Short walk to local shops and bars and very close to castle and other places of interest. Very clean, spacious and well appointed apartment. Extremely comfortable beds. Permit parking included. Great communication with hosts. Very quiet.

Lots of stairs, not a problem for us but anyone less able would struggle. Glassware selection mostly wine glasses. Could do with some sharp kitchen knifes as only basic cutlery. No toilet roll on arrival so be prepared to shop first. May have to drive around a bit to find a parking space.

Fantastic and extremely comfortable apartment. Lovely to stay here for 5 day's. Beds are super comfy and beautiful decor and cleanliness throughout. Could not fault it. Got everything needed for a nice break. Would definitely book to go back. The views are stunning and great place to watch ships go by. Looks out onto beautiful gardens of Southsea front too. Convenient location for Portsmouth and surrounding areas.

The views are amazing. The flat was lovely good decor and nice touches with towels provided and things like washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, etc. Louise and Liam really helpful and friendly. Good location for access to Southsea common and beach and Portsmouth.

The stairs a challenge but warned and well worth the effort for the views. The parking is interesting but again the hosts extremely helpful and wasn't difficult when got used to letting the hosts know parking times for their app with the council.

Everything. . The apartment is even better than in the photos. Very conveniently situated, in a lovely spot. Beautiful views over Southsea Common, with the Solent in the distance. In evenings you can watch the night ferries coming and going. Ability to be able to use Residents' Parking is a bonus . Communication with the owners is very easy.

Great Apartment

Location was really good with restaurants and the beach only a short walk away. There is a pub just across the road as well. The apartment was very comfortable with a good shower.

People should be aware that the apartment is on the 5th floor with no lift. Also it could have done with a few more pans etc in the kitchen.
