Clean and quaint and the location is great with a local pub a few metres away and a short stroll into Thirsk
We liked everything but a couple of things that were of minor convenience: we couldn't read the WiFi code easily as it was really faint on the card that was left . We ran out of hand soap. There were no matches to light the fire.

Beautiful location... lovely cosy little cottage ..bedrooms and beds were delightful..slept perfectly.. well stocked kitchen and a gorgeous bath ..
The garden was through a shared back yard / path area ... right attention top away from the house... as we had our pup with us .. we had to put him on his lead and walk him.up to the little garden.. coukdnt just open the back door and let him have a little wander ..
We chose the property because it stated an ' enclosed garden' .. but that wasn't entirely accurate .. It should say the garden is accessed through a shared yard ..up a path..

Cody, comfortable, clean and ideal location
The key safe was hard to negotiate as it is set low, and the stairs are challenging for elderly guests

Simple, clean and comfortable
It was advertised as having a small patio garden but there was no outdoor space other than a small area where the bins are. Also it doesn’t have a washing machine. Bad water pressure and therefore a crap shower

Beautiful, old cottage with a lot of character. Perfect for two people.
Nice touches with fresh eggs and firewood.
Good location and extremely cosy.
The bed is the softest I have ever slept on and I think it is well past its best and really needs a replacement (I normally sleep on a medium/firm bed but this is sagging in the middle).
Could not find the garden (which is apparently 20 metres away). A small notice on the back door explaining this would have been extremely helpful.
I received far too many messages from the letting company with pages of information, lacking focus and succinct points (like where is the garden and the check out time (my fault I missed this, but it was overload of information!).

The cottage was clean and welcoming when we arrived, We asked for an early time to enter the cottage the owner was able to do this for us as we had an early start. Easy to enter as we were given the keycode well in advance, The owner kept in touch by text which was a bonus, but not all the time, The bed we slept in was very comfortable.
It just felt like our own home for the week, very charming! The location was great too, Will definately be back.
There was nothing we didn't like, everything was lovely.

Local to town centre, 10 m walk
Nothing, it’s an old house 500 year , so don’t expect a new build.

There really was not much to like. Although the heating did work, the bathroom is very cold.
Having stayed here last year, despite several shortcomings, I gave it a decent review. This was in part meeting the owner on departure & being able to discuss the shortcomings face to face. I really thought they would be addressed especially the health & safety ones. 12 months later, NOT one had been rectified. So to sum up:
1. unless you can fit through a 15" gap you will not be able to use the bath/shower. If you are not a contortionist you will not be able to use the bath/shower. If you are disabled/infirm you will not be able to use the bath/shower. There are no grab handles within the bath area to steady yourself. Depending on your length of stay, this will be a serious issue.
2. If you stream your TV, you will not be able to, as the broadband is very unstable.
3. There has previously been a leak in the 2nd bedroom damaging one wall, last year this was covered up with a bed sheet. 12 months later, the same bed sheet is still hanging there.
4. If you struggle to climb a ladder, you will not be able to climb the stairs to access the bedrooms. They are very steep, with high risers between each tread.
5. The welcome basket was exceedingly poor. 1 bottle of beer, 6 eggs that were not date stamped & a jar of home made jam, again with no safety labelling.
6. The key safe is low down at pavement level, behind a heavy plant pot. If you are not able to crouch down or it is dark you will struggle to open the key box.
7. The bin bags provided all had holes in them and were unusable.
8. Only 1 hand towel and very small bath towel were left in the main bedroom. No towels were left for use by the 2nd bedroom. If you are larger than the 15 inches mentioned above, you have no hope of wrapping the towel around yourself. This did not present a problem to us, as nether one of us were able to use the shower during the week, due to the lack of access.
9. Although the heating did work, the bathroom is very cold.

Lovely little cottage, perfect for me and my two children, in a super location. Despite a lot of rain, we managed quite a bit of travelling around Yorkshire, visiting Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey and York, to name a few, and coming back to a cosy fire at the cottage was perfect. Kitchen was well stocked with all the equipment we needed for cooking. We would also highly recommend the Land & Sea Fish & Chip Shop a short distance from the cottage if you don't fancy cooking! Host was quickly responsive to a message about getting the fire going and provided a basket of local goodies for our arrival.
There is a very small parking space outside the cottage (not marked out). Just be aware that the neighbours tend to park outside their houses and weren't happy when I briefly left my car in a larger space to unload.

I liked the location of the property. It’s an easy walk into Thirsk. Parking was convenient but take care parking under lime trees as sap will drop onto your vehicle. It is a pleasant street, fairly quiet and full of character.
The home was well equipped particularly the kitchen. There was a good range of information and maps about the area with helpful tips from the owners. A variety of books and games were available and the TV is large and is a smart TV too.
The main bedroom was very attractive.
The small bedroom has a real issue with damp and I would not like to sleep in the single bed next to a damp/ peeling wall. Fortunately we were a group of three so we did not use that bed.
We had hoped to make use of the bike storage area but it seemed to be in a state of disrepair. The shower over the bath was fine , but would not suit anyone large or with mobility issues.

This is a lovely little cottage. It is well equipped and comfortable. There was a welcome pack with a selection of local goods (eggs, jam, beer, homemade cake). We liked the Christmas fairy lights, which gave a very welcoming, cosy glow. . There is a wood burning stove and a basket of logs/newspapers, which certainly helps take the chill off winter evenings. There were even a couple of fleece blankets provided for snuggling in front of the very large TV. The beds were very comfortable and warm. Everything was very clean and tidy.
The bathroom was downstairs, which was fine (meant the bedrooms could be a decent size) except if you need to go in the night, in which case the stairs are pretty steep!
It's unavoidable in a house this size that you enter straight into the living room. In the summer this wouldn't be a problem but in winter with walking boots and 4 people it can be a bit of an awkward bottleneck as you all try to take your boots off standing on one leg on the doormat.

The host had paid every attention to detail and this little property really is a hidden gem. The cleanliness is exceptional and we slept so well in the beds that our own beds feel uncomfortable! The host left us a beautiful gift basket with local products which was such a lovely touch and even the hand soap in the bathroom was a delicious rhubarb and rose scent- these little touches made it the most wonderful place to return to on an evening. The location is on one of the most picturesque streets in Thirsk/Sowerby lined with big old trees and listed buildings and churches. There is a local pub up the road (but it never got noisy). Its run by a local whose family has been there for generations. Thirsk is a town with a wealth of history including the Herriot museum showcasing the famous vet James Herriot who wrote the series of books 'All Creatures Great and Small".
It was perfect for a family of 3 or 4 but maybe if you have a toddler the stairs up to the bedrooms might be a little steep.
I will 100% definitely be booking this property again and have recommended it already to friends and family!

,The bedroom was lovely, and the location as it was a lovely 10 minute walk into thirsk. Access to a small garden. Welcome pack was nice and appreciated could of done with a pint of milk though. Owners very helpful and nice to deal with.
Downstairs bathroom, not ideal but wasn't to much of a problem for us,light carpet not great with dogs. Needs a sign in yard saying how to get to the garden which isn't clear.
