It’s small and boutique hotel so that detail was nice. The contrast therapy along with free yoga classes are great.
Food - I’m sorry to say but the quality of the food is the worst I’ve had in Bali. The breakfast is pretty awful and lunches are very subpar.
Noise - there are bars near by and the loudest music plays over the weekend till 2am…
Value - with all the experience, the value is just not there. It’s very overpriced.

Tucked away off the main road you enter a bespoke paradise. The staff envelop you with care. Every detail is beautiful. The pool and dining area are a sanctuary. The surrounding rooms - or havens are exceptional. I never saw anyone clean my room yet it was cared for constantly. The yoga/motion classes are top for beginner or expert and the room is inspirational. The contrast facility is one of a kind and coaching to get through and experience the benefits is personal and achievable. Loved the food . Breakfast a joy that kept giving from fruit bowl to toast to your choice of main . Golf buggy drops you to local restaurants all within coooeee. Travelled with my daughter who is 28 and couldn’t ask for a more perfect 6 nights together. Thank you to Martha and your wonderful team - we will be back ❤️👍

Nothing.
This hotel is very poor value for money and is basically vastly overpriced for what you get.
The approach to the property is down a very bumpy unmade track which is simply not a great introduction to where you're staying.
Before our brief tour we were given a welcome drink which we simply couldn't drink...described as a herbal drink it was simply disgusting.
We were then shown a small swimming pool with a communal 20ft long wooden dining table which we didn't like the look of....School dinners is not what we wanted or expected.
Then we were shown our room which was described as a traditional Indonesian wooden accommodation....in reality it was no more than a glorified garden hut with a fancy roof. It was dark and dingy and lit by spotlights. It was also described as having a garden view but this amounted to a rear outdoor shower built around a moss covered breeze block wall where you stood on a large flat rock under a rusty looking shower head. Another tall perimeter wall was a few feet behind...not much of a garden view!!
Then the worst thing was the non stop sound of a generator all night long. A relaxing stay would be impossible with that noise. Then they put linen sheets on the hard bed which made me melt with the heat...why linen sheets?
Breakfast next morning was nothing special and nothing like you would expect for the money we were paying.
Despite booking for 3 nights at nearly £1000 we decided 1 night was enough and we cut our losses to escape this disaster of a hotel.
We were offered the chance of another room but enough was enough ....we needed to get away and moved to a huge modern accommodation with 2 big en suite bedrooms, an outdoor private plunge pool and kitchen /sitting area which we got for a fraction of the cost of the Asa,
We made an expensive mistake booking this place but quite simply it's far far too expensive for what it is and way overrated.

Without a doubt, The Asa Maia is the best hotel we stayed at in Bali. Everything was simply outstanding – from the warm and personal service to the exceptional design and atmosphere of the place.
The pool is perfect, the gym is excellent, and I truly enjoyed joining several yoga sessions with Daniela, which made the stay even more special. I also joined the breathwork workshop – an unforgettable experience with the ice bath, sauna, hot pool, and gathering around the fire.
What made it even more unique was the sense of community – we ended up connecting with other guests, even sharing breakfast together, which was such a beautiful touch.
Thank you for creating such a magical and memorable experience 💘

Amazing resort with great facilities- loved the sauna, and hot/cold pools. Breakfast was lovely-we really enjoyed. Amazing decor and natural setting through which made is so tranquil. Nice friendly staff o and Sumba the kitten was our favourite!!
There’s nothing we didn’t like however one improvement we thought is that the staff could come check on you when around the pool area to see if you want to order anything. That would have made it!

Second time staying at this beautiful property. Easily one of the most serene and stunning properties in Bingin! The food is healthy and yet delicious, the staff are warm and kind, and the location is excellent.
The aircon in our room stopped working on the day before we checked out - there was a bit of a communication issue and we were in limbo for a couple hours without a resolution but eventually we were moved to another room. Due to the layout of the bathroom in the second room, the whole bathroom floor got wet when you showered. Neither of these were huge issues and I only mention them because of the price of rooms.

Absolutely Magical!
Where do I even begin? My stay at The Asa Maia in Uluwatu was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I arrived, my partner and I were embraced by the warmth and genuine hospitality of the incredible staff, who made me feel like part of their family. Every interaction was thoughtful, personal, and effortless, from breakfast by the poolside, to contrast therapy with the amazing teacher Daniela in the mornings.
The facilities are five-star in every sense. The design is elegant yet grounded in nature, with every detail carefully curated to create an atmosphere of peace, luxury, and authenticity. The spa, the pool, the yoga shala, the sauna, everything is immaculate, beautifully maintained, and just so serene.
We arrived as guests, but left as friends.
I will absolutely be coming back – there’s nowhere else quite like it. If you’re considering it, book it. You won’t regret a single moment.
Thank you Martha, Daniela and the rest of the team :)

An exceptional hotel with private health spa, yoga facilities
Food was good but not on the same page as the facilities. Meals could be made exceptional with additional touches like more variety of plant foods in salads and more unique recipes and use of local ingredients to result in more interesting choices. Current menu is very similar to many other cafes in the area.

Beautiful and quiet setting. Everything is well considered. Large private suites with comfy beds. I loved the infrared sauna and the cold plunge and spa pools. Free mini bar replenished daily. Lovely staff. Good healthy food.

I left at 4:30 am so they boxed up a breakfast for me, so kind and delicious!
I wish I could have stayed longer so I could have enjoyed the yummy drinks provided in the fridge.

The attention to detail and the impeccable choice of everything. You can feel that all that surrounds you has been chosen with the guests experience at the forefront of mind. The facilities are world class. The addition of practitioners there for guidance is a lovely example of the care that has been taken in this hotel.

From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the harmonious blend of luxury and authenticity that your resort embodies. The historical rooms, thoughtfully reconstructed from genuine traditional houses, exude a timeless charm. Each space, adorned with natural elements and meticulous craftsmanship, offers a serene and immersive atmosphere that truly honors Balinese heritage.
The wellness services provided were nothing short of exemplary. The spa treatments were both rejuvenating and tailored to perfection, reflecting a deep understanding of holistic well-being. The tranquil setting, combined with the attentive and skilled staff, created an environment conducive to relaxation and renewal.
What stood out most was the seamless integration of natural surroundings with the resort's architecture and amenities. The use of sustainable materials and the emphasis on preserving the natural beauty of the area did not go unnoticed and are highly commendable.
I am genuinely appreciative of the dedication and passion evident in every aspect of your resort. It is clear that great care has been taken to create a sanctuary that respects tradition while providing modern comforts.

It was my first solo trip on my birthday. I’ve always celebrated surrounded by loved ones and friends, but this year, I felt a deep calling to do things differently. To celebrate with myself.
So I treated myself to a stay at this beautiful sanctuary - and it exceeded all my expectations. The facilities are exceptional, the atmosphere is unlike anything I’ve experienced. Every detail is infused with intention, health, and wellness.
What makes it even more special is the sense of community. With only 10 rooms, you quickly connect with fellow travelers - especially after the first morning contrast therapy session! It’s intimate, soulful, and truly rejuvenating.
I can't recommend Asa Maia enough - whether you're seeking a solo escape, a romantic retreat, or a meaningful reunion with friends.
Already missing this gem!

Everything at the hotel was thoughtfully designed to ensure guests’ comfort. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was carefully prepared, and the food was delicious. During your stay, you can join free yoga classes, where the instructor offers individual support based on your level. The spa experience was amazing. This is a truly peaceful hotel that you must visit and stay at.

This property had the best facilities, breakfast and dinner options were all absolutely delicious and the sauna and hot tub were the best. In terms of wellness there was so much to offer.
It was very noisy from the clubs nearby. We were up until 3am most mornings because of the noise and when we asked about it, we were informed they were working on it but there was nothing that could be done at the time (January 24). We go clubbing so wouldn’t normally be bothered, but this was quite a lot

It was honestly a dream - such a beautiful, special place. It’s an authentic, stunning space and you can tell the owners live and breathe what they preach.
Honestly nothing. Everything was excellent.

The Asa Maia exceeded our expectations, everything was perfect. We loved the facilities, including the classes and contrast therapy by Daniela, the pool and plunge pools, sauna and gym. The signature massage at the spa is one of, if not, the best we had in Bali. The food and drinks are also amazing, very clean and feels healthy, whilst being absolutely delicious. The rooms are also amazing, not only do they look great, the room was very private and clean. Last but not least, the staff is great; they are extremely friendly and focused to ensure the stay is flawless. A special shoutout to the security guards who offer the buggy service to bring you to nearby restaurants and places throughout the entire day.
Nothing.

The hotel has a very bad location, the rooms have mold and an unbearable smell. Snakes and spiders on the hotel grounds. It is impossible to live in the given conditions, it is dangerous and unhealthy. Very poor and bad kitchen. I don't want to return the money for the accommodation despite the given problems. be very careful.

The Asa Maia was the best party of our two week trip. So good that we extended a few extra days. The small boutique hotel felt like your own private sanctuary. The design and layout was breathtaking, it felt like you were in a historic Indonesian compound. The sauna, cold, and hot caves were an amazing addition and we used them every day after we did daily yoga. The food was top notch and most importantly the staff was the friendliest we’ve encountered in Bali. This place is a hidden gem. Some people will say the bedrooms are dark which is true but we didn’t mind as we are outside all day. Besides being dark the rooms were magnificent with beautiful designed bathroom, bedding and intimate lighting, dimmers on everything. The added free coffee, tea, snacks and water was perfect. They hit it out of the park. We will be back guaranteed.

The hotel was beautifully designed, great energy and space. We loved the staff, the wellness facilities and the delicious healthy food. Everyone goes above and beyond to make your stay the best possible. We throughly enjoyed our stay there and would have loved to stay longer:

The property is very well located, far enough from the main road to feel secluded but close enough that you can easily walk to near by restaurants. The main building is beautiful with a spacious yoga studio, spa rooms and a small salon, a great restaurant with vegetarian and pescatarian options in a very well structured common area that is both protected from the elements but invites the outside in. The pool flows organically with the villas surrounding it. I also have to mention the infrared sauna and the cold and hot plunge pools, which you cannot miss.
The staff is fantastic and you really feel looked after. There is a schedule of activities every day from yoga classes, to movement, hypnosis, contrast therapy. You will not want to miss the daily contrast therapy with Sy or booking a private breath work session or the demanding but spectacular movement class with Daniela. I must also mention Axel that manages the Asa Maia who engages with every guest to make everyone feel welcome along with Cosmo (the cute Dalmatian) and also Maria that made the best latte’s to the most ridiculous specifications from me.
The common areas are very inviting and the atmosphere makes it easier to interact with other guests enriching the experience. I spent hours reading in the sofas by the pool.
The rooms feel like private cosy cabins in the jungle, many people mention they are dark, I believe they fit the space and concept perfectly. The whole space has character. The food is great particularly the breakfast. We absolutely loved staying here and would recommend this place to everyone.
The only fault for me were the sheets. We found the linen sheets too heavy making us feel too hot.

This is a phenomenal hotel. The best type, really small scale but caters to most needs. Superb food, and the wellness facilities/gym are perfect, as is the massage service offered. Yoga student and class that I did were also very good and the room is beautiful.
The main area is well designed for the sun to fall on the pool area all day long, whilst many other areas benefit from shade.
Nothing at all

This location is really a hidden gem in Uluwatu. The architecture and decoration was so stylish, what made it feel very authentic. Loved every minute there.
The restaurant is vegan. Of course a concept and a choice. However I would myself be happier with fish dishes or chicken dishes as an add on. Definitely not disturbing but a matter of preference.

We weren’t 100% sure a health and wellness retreat was for us but booked based on the amazing reviews. Vibe was a bit weird - maybe because there were almost no other guests there. They’re also still finishing construction on some of the bungalows fyi. Good and not so good things below but the summary is that we didn’t feel it was good value, there a quite a few small things that could be improved and it’s probably not a great choice if you’d rather have a beer than do breathwork
Good things
- Lovely staff who were very helpful, particularly when we made an error with our booking
- Beautiful main building
- Good general location but access issues as below
- Good food and fresh juices etc
- Good coffee
- Nice bed linen
- Really dark room - I know this is traditional styling but so dark it’s hard to use
- Room smelt damp
- Hard to use the outdoor shower without getting your feet and the indoor bathroom dirty
- Safe not bolted down so a bit pointless
- Empty toiletry bottles in the bathroom
- No milk for the in room espresso machine
- Cold pool and sauna closed when we were there
- Access down a small dark lane with no signage to the hotel that we could see (maybe intentional?). Our taxi driver wasn’t sure how to find it

I have traveled a lot till now and I can say that there are not so many places that stand out in my memory from all the trips i’ve been on.
Asa Maia is one of those places! From the moment you arrive you see the attention to detail. Everything is where it should be and the staff is just great!
Rooms are spacious, private, with a very beautiful design, very clean and tidy.
The thing that i liked most was the idea of a sharing table which they have in the restaurant. From the moment you sit down with the other guests you feel like you belong there…kind of like a family! The food was perfect and the staff looked after all of our needs. After 2 days they already knew what we like and don’t like.
Everything is perfect and I can guarantee that your stay here will be beautiful!
