Perfect house. Perfect location.

A gorgeous Georgian property just a stones throw from Gunwharf Quays. Well equipped. Truly home from home. The owner is so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return.

Beautifully appointed house

Beautifully appointed house with interesting historical features relating to Thomas Hardy. Particularly enjoyed relaxing in the first floor sitting room, which we referred to as the " morning room". The house is spacious and immaculately clean, central to old Portsmouth and easily walkable into Portsmouth and Southsea. The host, Steve was most helpful. Would love to return and hopefully will do.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the property. Communication prior to stay was excellent!

A wonderful old property beautifully decorated and in a great location. Very comfortable beds, we all slept very well. Milk in the fridge on arrival, and a supply of coffee pods for the coffee maker were lovely touches.

Located in the old historic district, beautifully restored and decorated, modern conveniences, lovely garden

It was warm summer weather when we stayed, the 2 top floors kept the heat in, couldn’t open the bedroom window to let heat out, would of been nice to have a top sheet instead of a duvet

Beautiful historic home opposite the Cathedral. Car parking on the road. Host kindly met us.

Hardy House provided us with much needed breathing room in a beautiful setting..

The house was absolutely beautiful as well as historical. We loved the space, the comfort, and the proximity to the seafront and Historic Dockyard. Steve was so helpful, accommodating our late arrival and providing us with resources on the history of Portsmouth.

The house is beautifully furnished and decorated in an appropriate period style.

I hate to criticise anything in this beautiful property but it is important to be honest and for me the most disappointing room was the bathroom. Yes - it is huge and has a lovely stand alone bath but the shower is small and access is partially blocked by a chest of drawers. It has no where to put your soap or shower gel. Similarly there is no where suitable put out the contents of your wash bag.

My friend would have liked a tv in the lounge either downstairs or level 2. Top level is a long way to go to watch tv. Also not very comfortable seating for tv watching and you bang your head a lot on ceiling!

I've never believed that you just need somewhere to put your head at night, and Hardy House certainly provides much more than that. The house is quite exceptional, beautifully furnished, immaculately clean and with all that you need for a fantastic stay. Its superbly located and the host clearly intent on ensuring a memorable visit Shall definitely return.

Perfect home for weekend stay in Portsmouth.

Beautifully restored house and very comfortable in a fantastic location for visiting Old Portsmouth, Gunwharf quays, Spinnaker Tower & the Royal Naval Dockyard. Parking outside was very convenient and some great old pubs/restaurants close by.

The only issue was with the internet/ wifi which kept disconnecting for both of us.

Very pleasant stay.

Location was great for shopping in Gunwharf. Steve recommended a local restaurant and it was perfect.

When relaxing in the evening, the TV and sofa didn’t work together. It isn’t practical.

Lovely house, very traditional and well decorated - location is great. Lots of stairs.

The house is gorgeous. Very clean, very traditionally decorated.

We would have preferred somewhere to sit in the courtyard and somewhere to relax as a family downstairs. The attic area had ceilings that were too low to be comfortable for the tv. Would rather have a small living area with tv downstairs or on the 2nd floor living area. We wanted to have a movie night.

Character property in the heart of Portsmouth

Superb property with plenty of character, very well finished & presented. In a central location to see the all the sights of Portsmouth. Parking available on the street outside. Next to the Cathedral which can be seen from a distance which meant finding our way back to the property was always easy.
