The central location of the Cables in Castleton. The location of the Gables provided many opportunities for the group to walk to our chosen pub or restaurant easily, which we did on several nights. The location also provided us to use the Peveril bakery for breakfast treats.Finaly having a private secure location for our car was of significant benefit.
Our group did not any negative problems with the Gables

Fantastic location right in the centre of Castleton. Amazing to have off street parking for 2 cars which makes it so easy to come and go during the day for nearby hikes and villages etc. The village is on your doorstep with lovely cafes, pubs, beautiful village and lots of shops to explore. The house has a Boot room at the back which makes it easy to leave any wet shoes or coats outside. Washing machine and clothes horse was great for us as staying a few days mid a longer trip. Very comfortable couches and beds which makes for a relaxing stay. Loads of space and a lovely old cottage to experience. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to explore the Peak District or who just wants a quiet relaxing getaway in a nice village.
A lot of sympathy for the owners trying to have modern showers in an old thick walled house! It's led to a fair amount of mold and dampness in the bathrooms but it was all clean otherwise - and we know it's not something they could easily prevent - it's very common in Ireland too! The Sykes holiday cottages manage the rental through booking.com - we tried to request a travel cot 2-3 days before arriving but no contact method worked - website message / email / phone / text but no reply.

Location was great and parking we managed to get three cars at the back of the property. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were all very comfortable. Plenty of seating in the lounge.
We were a little surprised that not in any of the three bathrooms the hand soap dispensers were empty and there were no small complementary toiletries as we had paid £1200 for a two night stay. Plus just to be aware a few logs are left and any more you have to buy with an honestly box left. However this was really the only small grumble we had as the kitchen was well equipped and toilet roll left.

This cottage was great.Location fantastic near everything. Me and my family and four dogs really enjoyed it. Nice welcome gift hamper on arrival, would definitely book again 😊
