Saarschleifenlodge

Saarschleifelodge is a nice little place at the end of a road along the Saar river. The only road users who pass by are cyclists and hikers - and then the riverboats that sail the river. Our place was the unit called a LOFT, a nice smalll apartment with a terrace and view to the river. It was a rustic place with a sitting area, a small kitchnette and a new and very clean bathroom. Up the stairs was the sleepingarea and a fine view over the river from the windows. Waking up in the morning and watch the morning fog over the river were amazing. This is a place to come back to the peace and quiet is amazing.

Some coathangers and a bit more kitchenware would be nice.

The location was beautiful. The evening meal option and breakfast was delicious. The apartment was comfortable and a reasonable size.

When making the booking via booking.com I had indicated we had a dog with us. The property listing said "pets allowed". The day before we arrived I received an information message in German which stated only one dog was allowed and that they couldn't be in the "main building". I responded to reconfirm we had one dog with us. Upon arrival my husband checked us in and we were directed to the back entrance and up to our room. After settling in to our room we were told upon returning downstairs that dogs are not allowed in the room we are in. I explained that I had informed the property we had a dog prior to booking and the staff member accepted this. The next morning at breakfast another member of staff told me we were not allowed a dog in the room we were in and that I needed to "pay more attention". I don't think he intended to sound rude and he did not cause any further trouble but I think this problem could have been avoided if the property listing was more clear which rooms permitted a dog prior to booking and my correspondence prior to my arrival was followed up on. There was one sign that was on the back door which had "no dogs" but this door was open on the day we arrived so not visible until the next morning and by this time it was too late.

Wonderful location!

The insulation between the rooms could be a little bit better.

Saarhaus cabin was super cold at arrival. No heat turned on in advance, took till 4 am in the morning to have some heat going, not very pleasant in those wet cold fall temperatures in Germany. Some of the kitchen equipment was missing or not working. Should be checked by staff members before guests arrive, just simple things.
