Book through Sykes cottages Booking.com is a bad company. They don’t care about customer service only money.

If you’re going to stay here book through Sykes cottages. we double booked our holiday this year and asked if we could change the dates for this property with four months notice Booking.com said no.

Sykes cottage were very understanding about the double booking and refunded us £900. But because we booked through Booking.com they needed to issue the refund. It’s been weeks now and countless phone calls and they have refunded nothing.

Comfortable accommodation centrally located

Excellent location. Well equipped kitchen with dishwasher tablets, washing liquid, kitchen cloths and several sizes of crockery, pots, choice of cutlery. A most appreciated welcome pack. Ensuite bathroom with almost every bedroom. Modern shower cubicles.

Ambient temperature was set too low (rather cold) and our email requests to ensure we could adjust it remained unanswered

Disappointing unhelpful Hosts and owner

Location quiet but near to restaurants etc

No reply from Host to messages/questions prior to stay. Struggled to get heating to work, struggled to contact owner and when received a reply it was short and not so sweet! - unhelpful.

On entrance to the house, the front garden could do with a tidy up as off the back garden , opening doors to the dining room didn't open out , paint work on entrance hallway stairs looked grubby ,the rugs on entrance and the landing was a trip hazard so we rolled them up ,curtains had no stops on the end so would pull off when pulling back , just needs a good lick off paint and simple basic things sorting out .

A good stay but could do better

Good location, we managed to park close by. Very spacious and clean. A lovely welcome pack. Bedrooms great and most with en suite. Individual bins to help with recycling. Lots of interesting books. Well stocked with plates, mugs and glasses.

The gate needs repairing, very hard to move. The property was very cold, especially the downstairs rooms, there were no instructions on how to locate or work the timer on the boiler, though we did manage to fathom this eventually. We never did find a thermostat! Despite being listed as having a microwave, there wasn't one, lots of complaints about this in the visitors book.

The location is fantastic and just a short walk from the town centre and all the shops/restaurants and pubs etc. The views are great too! The properly has a great amount of space and caters well for groups needing their own bathroom etc

Great location, the house had everything we needed and more. Hairdryers were an unexpected bonus. House was a lot bigger than expected. Beautiful views and spacious. Washing machine and tumble dryer were very helpful, as were the local guidebooks. It was easy to walk to the lake and town.

Overall a great property in a great place and very well equipped. Would recommend.

Excellently equipped and great bedrooms and en-suites. Great location too and an easy walk into the centre.

All 3 external bins were already full which made it difficult to get rid of our rubbish. Couldn’t see how to get the heating on and there was a couple of times when it was a bit cold. Parking can be quite tricky especially during the weekend.

Very spaciius ideal for family or group of 6-8.3 mins to top of market square. Price was amazing.

Well equipped kitchen, plenty of bathrooms, most rooms en-suite. Nice size house, clean and comfy. Short walk into town!

Great value stay 5 mins walking distance to centre of Keswick.

Great value property close to Keswick centre with lots of great walking routes nearby. Oakhurst is very well equipped with everything you would need for an enjoyable stay. Very clean house. Lots of space and owners left a bottle of prosecco and nibbles which was a lovely touch. We had a very pleasant stay and would use this property again.

2 small issues which were not a real problem to us. Parking was on road and hard to find a space after 6pm but we all managed and we had 4 cars in our group. All turning up after 8pm on a Friday night so peak time for on road parking. In the day I don't think it would be hard to find a space. Ensuite bathrooms were very small but master bathroom a good size. However we were very grateful for the 3 en suites. No negatives here that would put us off staying again.
