Medieval castle and local home stay feeling

Ohrid is magical but this place is definitely one of my best stays. Location perfect in steps to lake front. Tons of cafes bars and restaurants. Rooms are located on first and second floors above a jewelry showroom. Checkin was smooth. The lady speaks excellent English. Also got a big bottle of water which was highly appreciated in the summer heat. This property required a card for confirmation but payment was cash upon arrival. As I was single I got a smaller room. There was no AC as stated but a desk fan and a water cooler. That did the job perfectly. The bed was comfortable. A big cupboard too. Bathroom too was a bit small but was ok. Unfortunately there's a strong smell of drainage but that's common in older ex YU places.

Everything perfect. Will definitely be back.

Wonderful house. Best in Ohrid. Lovely owner and Maria who helped with everything. It might have been nice to have a kettle to make tea but I think there is one of we ask for it.

It was not particularly easy to communicate directly by phone about the arrival time big wasn’t a problem.

Worst place ever

Avoid this place at all costs. One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a property and its host. The host was extremely rude, unprofessional, and after refusing to provide clear instructions for check-in, blocked me on WhatsApp and ignored all my messages via Booking.com. I have video evidence showing the property from outside, and it’s completely unclear how to access it. There is no sign, no entrance, no communication. I was left standing in the street with no way to get in — disgraceful. Booking.com has been useless in solving the issue, despite me calling three times and sending all the evidence: screenshots, videos, and message history. No one cared. This is a scam listing and should be removed immediately. Absolutely unacceptable behavior. I’ve traveled to many countries, and never have I been treated this badly. If you value your time, your money, and your peace of mind: DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY.

The staff was excellent and helpful with all of my inquiries. Room had old world charm with great locations.

No on site parking but this has nothing to do with the hotel but the design of the city. Staff was super helpful on finding parking.

Cenral stay in a historic Ohrid house

Centrally located in the historic part of Ohrid, Villa Jovan is close to the shops, restaurants, promenade, the cathedral of St Sophia... Good Wi-Fi.

The shower room is tiny even for one person - which may be excused by the fact that it is a historic house. However, everything seems to be falling apart and is in need of fixing. Again - because this is an old Ohrid house, the wooden staircase to the second floor may be a problem for some. The large, comfortable double bed is flanked by wooden house support and takes almost all of the space in the room.

I wouldn’t choose again.

The price was good and the location is ideal. And, yes, it’s in an interesting historic building.

I had made arrangements to drop off my luggage early but when I arrived, the door was locked. I waited and then luckily remembered I had read the owners also owned a restaurant nearby. I went there and the wait staff let me leave my luggage there. I went back later and didn’t even get an apology or anything. So that didn’t feel very welcoming. My room was fine for the price but the bathroom light wasn’t working and the fridge kept falling out of its little cupboard. Easy fixes and the small details make the difference.

We were waiting outside the hotel for 30minutes, despite letting them know our exact time of arrival. No one at reception at any other point, so no information or assistance. No view. No shower handle, so you have to hold the shower with your hands.

the evenings (especially the weekend) was very loud on the street. this is not the fault of the property, and would be true of any location in the old city. It was not clear to me before the visit if breakfast was included (it was not) and there are no common areas at the property. there are plenty of choices in the area, though

the location was ok and even if the room space was tiny (a cell) it was quite comfortable and clean

- I didn't like that I didn't have an access key from the street to the hotel, so I had to tell in advance the time I'm coming back, which is not an ok condition when you re in holiday ... there is not always someone at the reception. - What bothered me the most was that I was charged twice, once money was withdrawn from my card after the reservation and at the hotell the elderly lady at the reception asked me to pay her cash (she gave me no receipt), because she said that there is only a reserve on the card, in case cancellation, and the ammount will be not withdrawn. Which didn't happen and they didn't transfer the money back to me after I reported the situation to them. Be very careful with this!

Amazing stay. Super friendly owner. Amazing locatio at the heart of old town and close to the water Front. We stayed in Standard double room. Bathroom was small, but for us big enough and no problem. There is no parking in the old town, but owner was so helpful and assisted in parking. Many many thanks.

Amazing location in the very heart of the old town and close to the lake. The historical building from 1865. Staff was very friendly

There were spider webs in every corner and in general it wasn’t very clean. I killed a cockroach in the room. Also the room was tiny and that bathroom from pictures was the only option to wash yourself. it’s small and you can’t even take a bath because they don’t provide anything to close the tube. So it’s just a very uncomfortable shower
