Quiet & non smokers only

Caroline is a really nice host who is well organised, she will make you breakfast for only 8 euros a night more. A really kind host who knows Annecy well.

Ich habe mich persönlich sehr wohlgefühlt - als Gast im Einfamilienhaus mit Gemeinschaftsbad ist man sich aber natürlich nahe - das muss man wissen.

OK, so this is NOT a hotel per se, but a private hostel with a sum total of two rooms in a private house. Hostess is kind and puts fresh cold water in your room and probably more if you ask. It is 3 km from the center of Annecy so 40 mins walking.

The room (mine was the "pink" room) however has no air conditioning and was very hot. Also the hostess did not offer any key to the room, which I found odd. Perhaps I would have got one if I asked, but it would probably just have been a generic indoor key that fits all doors. Also I was not allowed to go out barefoot since it would drag dust and grit into the house - even though I explained that I intended to brush my feet carefully before entering. Parking was on partially on the sidewalk.

Chambre située dans un pavillon de banlieue, propre (malgré tout sommaire, avec un niveau de confort limité; plusieurs points à améliorer, comme par ex: rideaux abîmés, porte-serviette instable, absence de lampe de chevet, écoulement difficile de la douche lors de mon passage). The room is located in a suburban house. It was clean (but very basic, with a limited level of comfort; several things could be improved like damaged curtains, unstable towel rail, no bedside lamp, the shower which did't drain properly during my stay).

L’ambiance générale et le comportement de l’hôte, intrusif et pesant. Dès mon arrivée, j’ai eu le sentiment d’être davantage soumise à une série d’injonctions que réellement accueillie. Caution de 100 € demandée comme prévu, mais concernant notamment l’usage du volet roulant (je n'ai pas osé l'utiliser) ou de la « kitchenette » (très rudimentaire: dans un espace type réduit/garage, sans point d’eau; vaisselle à laver dans le minuscule lavabo de la chambre!). Ceci a contribué à rendre l'ambiance peu rassurante. L'annonce mentionnait un petit déjeuner “exceptionnel servi tous les jours de 6h30 à 9h30 ». Or, le petit déjeuner m’a été refusé car je devais partir un peu avant 8h (trop tôt m’a-t-elle répondu par écrit)! Plusieurs interventions de l’hôte pendant mon séjour; et même envoi d’un SMS à 15 h au travail concernant l’endroit où je pouvais faire sécher ma serviette de toilette! Impression de contrôle permanent, mal supporté. De ce fait, j'ai choisi de partir au bout de 2 nuits, alors que 3 nuits avaient été prépayées, sans même demander une improbable compensation. Je ne recommande pas ce logement aux personnes recherchant autonomie et tranquillité d'esprit. The main issue was the overall atmosphere and the host's bahaviour. I had the feeling of being constantly monitored rather than simply welcomed. The listing stated that an "exceptional breakfast" was served every day from 6:30 to 9:30 am (not true; mine was refused because it was too early, as I had to leave a few mns before 8 am). I had to wash the dishes in the tiny sink of my bedroom.... Several interventions of the host during my stay, including a phone message at 3 pm about where I could dry my towel ! (I was at work)! Feeling uncomfortable, I chose to leave after 2 days even though I had prepaid for 3, without requesting compensation for the unused night.
