Dawn Cottage Quaint 3 bedroom cottage in Middleton by Wirksworth

There were some issue with lack of basic provisions (bin bags, toilet roll, washing up liquid) on arrival, but the Landlord has since advised this was due to a change of cleaning staff and has since been rectified. The cottage is very cosy, but quite spacious with separate living and dining rooms and spacious bedrooms. The directions to find could be a bit more explanatory as it is located down a cul-de sac off the main road then tucked into the side of a block of cottages (possibly advise to look for the small alley between house no x and y and turn up that). On the whole good value and the facilities have been updated to a high standard with a keen eye to safety standards such as modern smoke/heat detectors and fire alarms. The communication from the Landlord was very effective, answering any email queries in a very short space of time. One added bonus is that there is a very nice pet friendly pub just down the street . On the whole would recommend.

The cottage was lovely; nice and cool given how hot the weather was while we were visiting. Everything was clean and tidy and the shower was excellent.

We put all of the perishables in the kitchen caddy provided throughout the week and found out when they needed to be put out only to find the outside caddy was full of the embers and coke from the fireplace. I couldn't even lift it up to empty it into the rubbish bin. Also there was nowhere for the recyclables. (Not so drastic as I took them home with me.)

Well equipped, warm (central heating that we could control), clean cottage. Open fire although we did not need this because the central heating was efficient. Having a garden to sit out in. Friendly village.

Little difficult to locate due to the cottage being set behind other properties. Uneven pathway leading upto front door. We had two elderly ladies in our party and they struggled with this. Also steep stairs with difficult hand rail and several changes of levels. While we are not classed as disabled these were things that we needed to be aware of. Single bed mattress needs to be changed you can feel every spring in this one. Very uncomfortable for an adult. A child may not notice but we definately did.
