Holiday Inn Express - NYC Brooklyn - Sunset Park by IHG

The price was relatively okay compared to other hotels around. The best thing was a buffet breakfast which was decent, The another good point was it's close proximity to Subway Station that helped us go around New York City.

The hotel was just next to street and at night it might get quiet noisy. Even with all windows closed the noise from outside was quiet loud

Good selection of food at breakfast - very near train station easy to access - quiet at night - free coffee/hot chocolate all day

Reception Staff could be friendlier - small area for breakfast always found a seat but sometimes with other diners or at a computer desk in the corner - boxes left on vacant tables when busy so would be useful for things like this to be moved

Very nice, I enjoyed the room as well as the breakfast

It was in close proximity to the Barclays center and lots of restaurants and shopping to choose from at this location.

The lobby is modern but the rooms we had on the 12th floor were old, the furniture was beat up and the tub was chipped in multiple places and the carpet looked dingy. We had no wash cloths in the bathroom, the switch on the wall did not work, the curtains were very old and there was a stale air smell in the room. For the price I would have thought it would have been nicer. Lastly, there are two holiday Inns in Brooklyn one at Sunset and the one we stayed at was on 300 Schermerdon st downtown. We mistakenly chose the former. I callled the IHG reservation line and a wonderful, patient, kind, and thought person by the name of Shavon helped us by switching us to the 300 Schermerdon location. We made the reservation via Booking.com app( be careful when selecting your hotel,esp. if there are multiple locations for the same city) Booking agreed to giving us a free cancellation but needed the Sunset location hotel to agree. However, Shavon did not have the authority to agree to the cancellation and said I have to speak to the General mgr. on Monday 9/29. Nor was she able to offer me a refund. Sooo, I have been charged for both hotels. I’m hoping to get my funds back from the Sunset location. Shavon said she left extensive notes for the general manager Andrew Parra when he comes in on Monday. I’ll update this post after I speak with him.
