The space and the facilities were all clean, beds very comfortable and the people who let the property had very good communication, super friendly and checked in to see if we needed anything.

Poor state of repair, not as advertised

Had availability and the host was responsive.

It is difficult to know where to begin. Before we could enter, the host had made me send photo ID and an extra deposit before allowing us the entry code; this is not something I have ever had to do before with Booking.com. On entry, we found the property to be in a bad state of repair: mildew on bathroom ceilings, fittings broken, furniture chipped, landing light broken, bedside lamps not working, blinds misding slats, kitchen bin rusty, kitchen tap loose supermarket savers washing-up liquid: in short, it felt like a student flat, yet was the same price as the top quality hotel we had stayed at the night before (Crowne Plaza, Royal Victoria). We had booked the apartment on a whim as we had been to the university open day and wanted to stay an extra night in the city. We were extremely disappointed. It was already evening so we went out to eat and whilst there, decided we could not stay in such a place. We booked a room at the Crowne Plaza and left. We were in contact with the host throughout, who was polite and responsive, but there was little that could be done at this stage. In my opinion, the property was misadvertised; the photographs must havd been from one of the other apartments. The host returned my deposot but refused to refund me. I eventually managed to cancel the booking but incurred an £80+ cancellation fee. A disappointing end to our stay in Sheffield and nit an experience to be repeated.

Great location, useful amenities, very comfortable bed, friendly staff.

Great location for Kelham Island events. Comfortable bed, two TVs, lovely powerful shower, tidy property. Also very friendly booking team.

It needed a proper clean, unfortunately dirty on the seats, in the drawers and in the shower. Took an hour to heat the room, we didn’t take our coats off. Once heated up it was a comfortable temperature.

Very disappointing and unsuitable for a two week stay.

Firstly, the apartment we stayed in was not the one in the photo above. We liked the water pressure and the ample hot water in the shower. The location was fantastic. We really fell in love with Kelham Island. A place buzzing with artisan type cafes, bakeries and great eateries. There was street art and murals everywhere. A great vibe and we will definitely go back.

There was no heating on when we arrived after a very long journey (mid November). The apartment had been cleaned although I found a jelly sweet on the floor just peeking out from under the bed and a tampon, still in its wrapper, peeking out from under a chair in the sitting area. There was a broken window ( internal pane of double glazing), broken window blinds, nowhere to hang jackets, a broken fridge door, inadequate kitchen items for a two week stay including only one tea towel and missing grouting in the very place you step as you go into the en-suite bathroom. The sink was oversized for the bathroom and necessitated squeezing between it and the extremely hot towel rail ( when it was switched on by us) in order to get to the toilet. Neither of us is a large framed person so i imagine some larger framed people may actually find it impossible to get to the loo. The whole apartment had a very well used and unloved feel which was not what we were looking for in a two week stay. The couch and chair in the sitting room were uncomfortable and extremely well used. We did contact the staff who were very polite but seemed at a loss to actually do anything practical to help. They sent someone over, who arrived with no tools. He attempted unsuccessfully to fix the blinds and left telling me that there would be new blinds next week. We received an email telling us that we could rest assured that all the issues we highlighted would be sorted out after we’d left! One evening the alarm went off. It transpired that it had been activated by steam from a shower in a different apartment in the block. We met some neighbours who stay there regularly who told us the alarm goes off sometimes. We left a day early to go and stay in a hotel one night before heading home.

A property with genuine strengths that was let down by some maintenance issues and poor spare bed

Location: Excellent. Convenient and highly appealing. Communication with Hosts: This was excellent, very quick to respond to any questions I had. A bit keen with the upselling if you ask me, but nothing unexpected. Master Bedroom Comfort: The bed in the main bedroom was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. Main Ensuite Shower: Good water pressure, which is always appreciated. A slight caveat: the drain is notably slow, so guests should anticipate a significant puddle forming if they linger too long. A simple design fix is definitely needed here. Second Ensuite Shower: Functional and hassle-free, although the lack of a basic shower gel dispenser means you need to bring your own supplies.

Second Bedroom Bed: This bed was very uncomfortable. The mattress felt like a pile of old curtains, it was uneven and made it rather difficult for a good night's rest. Kitchen Fixtures: The kitchen tap is quite wobbly and feels detached, suggesting it's unwilling to commit to its designated position. Furthermore, the flooring in the kitchen area is noticeably marked and spoiled. WiFi Speed: The internet connection is unacceptably slow for modern use. Expect data transfer speeds reminiscent of a dial-up era.

Fair review of Kelham Apartment

Location was great for the city The apartment, really a house over 3 floors, was large and spacious, sleeping up to 8 in 4 bedrooms, 3 are ensuite. Not enough crockery and cutlery for more than 4 or 5 people

The photos are great, actually whilst comfortable, the interiors are looking tired and we had a few issues with things not working. These we raised with the team and they tried to put them right during our stay. Mix and match crockery and odds and sods cutlery not what you would expect for a property of this quality.

A very comfortable apartment on Kelham Island, Sheffield. We booked very last minute due to our existing booking cancelling whilst we were driving to Sheffield. The team was very helpful and responded to messages quickly.

The location was slightly further out than suited my quite specific needs but it was only a 15 minute walk into the city.

Would not return

Unfortunately, my stay was very disappointing. The apartment looked nothing like the photos—it was much less clean and in poor condition. There was no hot water when I arrived, and it took over two hours to get it sorted. The cups were dirty, the curtains didn’t fit properly so light came through early in the morning, and the overall cleanliness was lacking. Even worse, there was exposed electrical wiring hanging out of the wall, and the radiator wasn’t properly attached—both of which felt unsafe. I would not recommend this place until major improvements are made.

Great location. Really quiet area even though so near to the centre. Loads of street parking.

Both tvs don’t work properly, tried ITVX on the living and didn’t work. Remote for bedroom only does channels and volume and no smart apps. Mattress not that comfy.

I loved my stay at this property! The space was cozy, spotless, and beautifully decorated, making it feel like a home away from home. I had almost everything I needed. The location was perfect—quiet yet close to all the sights. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay!

Cooling fan would have made my stay more enjoyable as it was really warm in the bed room. You might also want to consider providing more towels for guests staying more than one night

Excellent property, fully facilitated in central location.

Fantastic location. Flat very well appointed. Bed most spacious and comfortable. Plenty of communication from the property personnel, including follow up.

With the temperature being 29/30 celsius during the day, I found it to be unbearably hot at night-time, so was unable to sleep well as it was very difficult to cool the space down even with all skylights and the bedroom windows fully open in the apartment. That was an exceptionally warm period though.

It was dirty and unclean had cobwebs in bedroom water sprinkler painted over. Hole in wall where radiator is dangerous The front door in flat not secure. One alarm is rusty and pushed right in which I can see, also dangerous corner pavement.

Perfect and very relaxing from home to home

The property was perfect and comfortable for our one night stay.

I loved that our dog was able to come and although my dog doesn’t malt there wasn’t a trace of any other dogs being there. The apartment had tea coffee milk and washing up liquid the small stuff that means so much when you have a 2 1/2 year old this can get missed while packing.

Amazing time for a one day stay very comfortable

This property was exceptional honestly the property owners were very lovely and they made the stay very safe and welcome for me. Disappointed,we left immediately.

The flat was in an ideal location.

Unfortunately when we arrived it stuck of weed. The kitchen was grubby and there was not enough bedding. On request we were told they would not be able to get us any bedding for the night. So we promptly left and booked in to the Mercure. Which was clean comfortable and cheaper. The photos on the listing are deceptive. Flat was small and dingy

AVOID, awful. I’m not one for complaining but this place is horrible and we left and went to a hotel instead.

Avoid this apartment. The photos make it look very nice but in reality the place is much smaller and very dark not much window light. The place is run down as well kitchen cupboards don’t close marks all on walls etc. however I could have dealt with all of this. The main issue is that this property is not cleaned. We arrived and it smelt of weed in the property and the bathroom had a strange smell. We then moved a tiny piece of furniture to make room for our travel cot and found chewing gum and cigarette butts on the floor. In the kitchen nothing was clean glasses had lipstick and finger prints on them. Cutlery was dirty and some had blood on it. I notified them straight away that I was not happy with the cleanliness of the apartment especially with a 4 month old baby. And asked to be moved- they didn’t have any other apartments free but said they could send a cleaner round in the morning. I explained this wasn’t a suitable option as I did not feel for health reasons it was safe to stay in this property with a baby. So I asked if they could refund me and I would find alternative accommodation for 2 nights. They refused to do this and have continued to charge us- even though we checked out 1-2hours later and moved to a hotel. It’s not an expensive stay so I could have dealt with it being small and the large amount of wear and tear. However you expect a place to be clean as a bare minimum and this was not. And from looking at other reviews I can see I’m not the only person who has had this complaint which makes me think they are not addressing the issue
