Antica Dimora De' Benci

Overall, this is a good hotel: clean, comfortable, and in a great location. The room itself was nicely decorated, with stylish details that gave it a pleasant character. Also, we were traveling with two children, and the room was quite spacious for our family.

On the first day of our stay, the elevator was not working, so we had to carry our baby stroller and luggage up to the 4th floor by stairs. Fortunately, the issue was resolved the next day. We had also booked a rate that included breakfast, but only upon arrival were we informed that breakfast would be served at a nearby terrace restaurant rather than in the hotel itself. While the restaurant was very close, this was somewhat inconvenient when traveling with children. In addition, the breakfast selection was rather limited.

Better explanation that the parking is NOT at the house itself. There are several commercial parking places nearby but once you arrived at the location it is very very difficult to drive to such a parking place. A lot of communication and email / whats app messages upfront.

The location of the property is excellent and close to all major attractions and missions as well as the shopping area and restaurants. The housekeeping and kitchen staff are among the best I have encountered in any hotel anywhere.

I would loved it more if there were an actual staff on site. The only staff were a couple of housekeepers who were awesome. No other help desk or support staff were available for help.

It’s very well situated just off Santa Croce but is very quiet and feels secluded.

We had arranged early check in and were given detailed instructions about how to gain access to the property but when we arrived at the agreed time the doors were locked and no one was there. The reception and emergency phone numbers given were not picking up. We had to take our bags back down into the city for an hour before we were contacted by WhatsApp. This is the second time we’d stayed and things didn’t go quite so well this time. The room and bed sheets smelled very strongly of a fabric deodoriser, rather than freshly laundered. Otherwise it was a nice traditional small hotel with everything you could need.
