The location was fabulous. The complimentary breakfast and toiletries were great. The room size was good. Free wi fi was an added bonus.
The shower and toilet were very noisy. We could hear the pipes from the adjacent room, which was quite distracting. The bathroom could do with being updated. The water temperature of the shower was disappointing, moving from too cold to lukewarm.

Very comfy bed and warm room. Nice friendly staff. Good location in centre of town. Nice touch with breakfast supplies left and plenty of biscuits etc.
Parking suggestion on email directed us to a car park that didn't allow overnight parking. Could hear quite a bit of noise from the road, so would suggest you bring ear plugs.

It’s central location, pleasant atmosphere and comfortable rooms.
Nothing I didn’t like

Such a cosy room. The bed was so comfortable, the shower was a little small but had amazing pressure that more than made up for it and the amenities provided were exceptional. The pub below was also a great place to grab dinner. I didn't want to leave. Truly a perfect place to stay for a night before a trip to Chatsworth house!

It was convenient and the staff were very friendly and helpful the whole time.
The shower didn’t drain away well so we couldn’t use it properly and when the toilets in the next room was used it was noisy.

Location was great
For the price - very unkempt, bathroom was in desperate need of TLC! If you sleep in the front of building, you can hear all the noise of traffic due to poor windows.
Staff was not very helpful on arrival

The staff were very helpful and friendly and couldn’t do enough.
Whilst there was plenty of things that were good, the decor was in need of improvement. I liked the amount of treats such as biscuits, orange juice, porridge pots, breakfast bars etc. there were marks on the wall and a cracked sink. The room could be lovely as it had original beams and windows but dated anyglipta wallpaper and the bathroom needed replacing.

The location is brilliant, right in the centre of town, opposite the bus stops, surrounded by shops and cafes but not noisy inside.
The food in the pub downstairs is excellent, we ate there both nights of our stay. It was very busy 6-8pm and last orders for food was 7.30pm so I would suggest booking a table. We were there in November and were surprised how many tourists were around.
The bed was comfortable and the breakfast tray was loaded with goodies.
The room was a little shabby, it could do with being redecorated.

The location was wonderful, right next to the original Bakewell shop and right in the middle of town. The room was so comfy, especially the bed, one of the best I have ever stayed in. The staff that I did interact with were all really kind and accommodating. A great stay overall.
There were only two downsides; since the pub didn't open until mid day you could not drop your bags off before you check in, and leaving the room is weird outside of open hours. Also there was hair all around the room, they did provide teas and stuff but there was a hair in the kettle so those weren't used.

Bed and bedding was excellent, great selection of drinks/on tray with porridge pots for breakfast.
Shower was also excellent very powerful.
Nothing really, bathroom door could have been painted to modernise it if I was going to be picky, but overall a fantastic stay that exceeded expectations.

Location good. Cosy and warm room. Nice selection of refreshments in the room.
Bathroom a bit dated

Inside the pub was nice and cosy.
We stayed in room 2,
it smelled fusty, the bed and linens were all fresh and clean.
So I should imagine it was the smell of the carpet.
Bathroom was ok, everything you needed but the walls needed painting, stained and splashes on them.

For £149 pounds a night the least you would expect is a cooked breakfast,The bathroom stank of sewage .particularly in the morning and last but not least the bar closed at 9.30 pm.Overall we paid a lot of money for a terrible stay.Would definately advise anyone against it.A nice assortment of biscuits.
Everything that the "Red Lion Hotel" purported to be.

No breakfast at the red lion
As two elderly people ages 91 and 85 . This pub was not suitable for us. We are both reasonably fit for our ages but found the stairs challenging.

The bathroom was poor and needs updating also you have to leave the property from the back going down steep steps which is not ideal

Convient for many local attractions. Very clean with comfortable bed and large shower room. Great supply of drinks and breakfast bits as no breakfast on site.

clean room
good food
our room had what sounded like an air conditioning unit outside which was going on and off all through the night. i think this was probably from a neighbouring property not the pub itself.
there was a fan in the room which helped with the hot weather but the fan was very noisy

No chance of getting on the WiFi. Was awful. No channels on tv apart from BBC. We only put the tv on as the whole place was shut at 9pm. What’s all that about?!!!

The location
Small room but space well used.
We were there for 2nights and the room was not cleaned.
Staff did bring fresh towels etc when asked.

Location is great, our bedroom was extremely warm and on the main road (it was a very hot day). So it was quite noisy and sleep was not easy. The bed was comfy. The rooms smelt like cigarettes and didn't look as nice as the photo.
Rooms didn't look like the photos - paint was all marked and grubby. I had hoped it would be a much nicer experience than the reality.

Great location !!
Windows didn’t open, shower didn’t run on cold. No available fans on the hottest night of the year !!
7.0 / 10.0
Freshly laundered sheets and towels, comfy bed. Excellent shower and plenty of hot water. Absolutely great on the basics that's required. Over and above , really very good for all the extras that were supplied like the sleep kit and very plentiful snacks and drinks. Excellent tea. Thank you. Hanging space and an extra chair and hairdryer. All good
The decor was a bit shabby, but that's fine , it's not the be all and end all. Carpet was stained and looked like it needed a clean.. Unfortunately there was a bit of sewer whiff in the bathroom but I noticed it outside too , so I imagine it's just very old drains!
The downer for me was 1. the hand basin in Room 4 was cracked on both sides, looked scruffy and just not hygienic when loads of different people using the room. 2. There was a constant heating noise/hot water noise all night. This small thing offset by abundant hot water when you need it !
