Very welcoming and friendly staff. Rooms clean and food good

We stayed here while on a biking trip along the Rhine River. It was a very cute little historical hotel. I loved the style of decor which was very traditionally German. The location was amazing with a beautiful view of the river and Katz castle and only a 2 minute walk to the ferry that takes you across the river where you can access the famous Loreley lookout. But the best part was the gentlemen running the hotel who was super friendly and really gave wonderful customer service. The whole experience was great!

Regular staff was not on-site during out 2 night stay. And only saw one person who checked us into our room on arrival. She unfortunately gave us the incorrect key and walked us to the incorrect room. When only.noticed the key when we were not able to lock up. Her german was not great so she called the owner Patrick and we spoke with him. Conversation was immediately accusatory saying we went into the larger room on purpose " so congratulations on the upgrade"... not a great start. Breakfast was supposed to be included at Cage St Goar...but no voucher was given and owner at the Cafe did not have our names so no breakfast provided for the 2 days. I think we were the only guests in the hotel for the 2 days. Housekeeping was on days off so no cleaning of room but that did not bother or concern us

In general the town is kind of sad. Very limited dining and only one open breakfast place in mid summer. Of thr few dinner places... most stop serving at 8:30 pm. No cute shops... needs a revival.
