Staff were excellent
The hotel could do with a bit of a make over.

The staff were exceptionally pleasant and the room was comfortable. The location was perfect for my purpose.
I would have liked some fruit at breakfast and stronger Wi-Fi.

I didn't sleep outside.
Damp, smelly rooms, awful décor, paint everywhere, even smeared on the doors and carpets. It hasn't seen any investment in 20+ years. Get it sold and turned into flats or something! My advice would be stay in Glasgow or the Port Glasgow area and get the ferry across. Remember to buy your ferry tickets at the CO-OP and not on the ferry!

Location was nice , Room was lovely , staff where nice enough ....
The hotel was frozen , Had lunch which is nice but sat in a frozen room eating it ...The heating was a small heater plugged into a socket ..After about 11pm Heating got turned off and the room was absolutely freezing till it came back on again at 10am which is not acceptable at all ....If you are open for guests then the heating should be on regardless if you have 1 guest or 100 ....We didn't book breakfast because we needed a heat and left at 10am as we couldn't sit in the room any longer so we got a heat in the car ....VERY DISSATISFIED 🥶🥶🥶

Good central location, with free parking nearby.
The room carpet had not been vacuumed, the cups, saucers and spoon had not been washed properly and on the second day the shower gel/ were not replenished.

The location of the property could not be better. Handy for everything. you can eat in the hotel directly or the adjoining restaurant which gives you plenty choices.
It’s an old hotel and the elevator is very, very slow. Whatever you walk, the floorboards squeak heavily, disturbing people below you. It was a Saturday night and the bar was closed from arrived back at 10:30. This is early in Scotland for closing time.

Excellent bar meals. Warm and comfortable throughout. Quiet upstairs. Nice location, you can look out to sea from the bar. Staff are friendly. Handy for local amenities and public transport including the passenger ferry.
Need a better choice of local beers and spirits.

Staff where extremely helpful!
Water wasn't hot - bed was extremely uncomfortable.
Carpets where dirty windows let in a terrible draft on the 3rd floor.
Your more than likely to fall through the floor boards

George at reception was amazing. The bar staff were good and the indian food was fabulous.
Hotel rooms need a wee bit of a refurb, cracked tiles in bathroom and taps that didnt work, but the shower was brilliant so really cant complain.

Traditional waterside hotel in a good location. Very good restaurant menu and very friendly staff.
Elevator is painfully slow but to be honest, that's part of the charm of this traditional hotel.

The location and the staff were lovely, very friendly
No smoking area. A beer garden closed off which is understandable this time of year but an area is needed. Also no staff in hotel after 10pm, any issues is by phone call. Bed uncomfortable, could feel the springs

Bath had marks all over it and sink could do with replacing.

The bed was comfy. Bar girl was very pleasant and hard working. Bar food was fine.
Shower a trickle, very tired bathroom and we got chucked out the hotel bar/restaurant at 9.30pm before we’d finished our drinks. Guy with a suit and his Henry Hoover hovering and staring. There’s nowhere else to go so had to take our drinks up to the room. Seemed a bit odd especially as we’d spent a significant amount on food & drink.

Excellent Italian food in the Rio restaurant at the hotel.
Room a little tired, but okay considering the last room available.
8.0 / 10.0
The location was very good. The room was quite comfortable.
The whole place needs updating, our bathroom was very poor, the shower was small and needs replacing. At night we had the floodlights on the front of the hotel which shone straight into our room and lit up the whole room and even the very thick curtains couldn’t stop the glare. Not ideal for sleeping. Glad we had only booked one night,

Staff-very friendly
Room-clean and view
Car parking-rather public and causes worry
