Royal Marine Hotel Dunoon

We stayed at this grand old hotel, built over 170 years ago. It has character and style from an age long gone. Features that catch your eye instantly, the stairwell with its thick bannister and stained glass windows. The tartan carpet is a real beauty. Our room was clean with modern facilities. The bed was very comfortable, much better than many newer establishments. At reception on booking in, we met the owner Richard, who gave his time freely to make us welcome and regale us with a few stories about his business interests. Highly recommended, great staff and as a guest you are not treated as just a number. Your custom is welcomed.

Lovely hotel but no lift as it’s a listed building

We booked late for this hotel. Location was perfect for our needs. It sits right opposite the ferry terminal. It has a bar and some outside seating. The hotel has obviously been grand in its day and it looks like they ownership trying to upgrade. Looks like a big job. The two staff we saw were pleasant, and seem to fulfil many roles. Breakfast was offered but we had other plans. The dining room looked busy the days we were there. We had booked a family room, and the room we had was spacious and clean with a lovely sea view. The hotel was quiet overnight. As previously stated maybe could do with a bit of upgrading, but it suited our needs. There is a lack of staff for the size of the place , but understand the pressures on hospitality put on by Scotgov , so no wonder there are few staff. Id like to visit again to see it as upgrade progresses and it approaches its former glory.

Very dated and desperately in need of a refurb. Room was cold. If i had time, I would have checked in somewhere else. Dissapointing. Staff were very nice and friendly.
