It was rather damp and the electric light blew but we sorted it out

So many positives - the host was super responsive and answered all questions very quickly, the location was perfect and very close to the harbour and car park, the cottage itself was well-stocked with amenities and very cosy with the oil heaters, the bed was very comfortable, and overall we had a wonderful Christmas in the cottage. The information regarding the electricity meter was sent immediately after booking and for 4 days in a cold snap in December (using all heaters and the oven) we spent a little under £20, which seems reasonable. They even decorated for us as we were there for Christmas Day - a really lovely touch.
The upstairs decor is a little dated and the bathroom could have a been a little cleaner (just some dust). The curtains in the kitchen are also quite transparent, making it somewhat easy to see into the property.

It was very central to the harbour. We could walk everywhere. It had a modern kitchen which was a plus.

Location was excellent, very comfortable
Electric shower continually fluctuating from cold to boiling, making it unusable. Overpowering smell of bleach on entering which lingered the whole stay . No bedlinen or towels included , and having to pay for electricity, which should be mentioned before payment .

We had a comfortable stay, the cottage is in a central location and loved the village shops, eating places and going on coastal walks.
The cleaner left the mop soaking wet with bleach which was left on the kitchen floor. We got wet socks as a result which ruined them with bleach.

Towels and linnen not provided or have it made clear in original advertisement that you needed to bring your own

Location was great. A minutes walk from the harbour.
Spiral staircase was awkward but that’s more to do with my arthritis than the property!

Great cottage, it had everything we needed.

Good location only a few minutes from the harbour. Small cosy cottage.
Good kitchen facilities.
Had a problem with the booking, however the host was excellent in helping us out.
Excellent for the price we paid.
The original listing does not list that you have to take your own bedding and bring £1 coins for the meter. We used approximately £20 worth of electricity. You only find this out once the hosts send you a document detailing this information. This needs to be listed so people are aware of this before they book and pay.
There is a mold issue in the cottage, you could see where the cleaner had cleaned the ceiling. At the end of our stay the mould started to come back again. There was a musty smell in the cottage.

The cottage was in a good location
It was dirty and smelled . They didn't provide bed clothes (fair enough), but the duvets and pillows were ripped and stained. The mattress protector had blood on it. One room had food, a significant amount of dirt , and a used plaster down the side. The stairs had thick dried mud on them, and the adhesive grip was peeling up, making it dangerous. You alighted the stairs on to a treacherous slippery lino, which all of us struggled with regardless of footwear.
The second day left us with no electricity. I contacted the owner. His tone was quite dismissive and made me feel uncomfortable about not realising it was a coin fed meter (I had not read anything about this in the facilties section, and other reviews have stated the same). The shower head was full of black mould as were the tiles. On the tap end of the bath, there was another shower hose. When my daughter tried that, extremely hot water was shooting out of splits all down it.
The bedroom windows were problematic. You either had to have them on vent, or they would fly wide open as the hinges weren't fit for purpose. This also made them difficult to close as they jammed open.
The previous year, we stayed in a beautiful apartment in the centre of the village, with free parking, free electricity , fantastic facilities and an all-round beautiful experience for not much more money.
The owners of Fisherman's cottage either need to chase up his cleaning/maintenance staff (or revisit his own standards), or reconsider whether he should be renting his property out.
We won't be returning.

The smart TV was awesome to be able to access our own tv apps. The location brilliant. car park close enough, main village, harbour and shops were literally 2 mins walk.
Electric not being included in price of stay. Not something I'd come across in a long time. Having said that, the electric meter rate / cost did seem good value.

Absolutely amazing value for money. Brilliant location, easy parking options, super comfy beds, modern little bathroom (note tiny bath) modern kitchen VERY well equipped. Super comfy sofa. Okay you have to pay for the electricity but as its so cosy it warms up dead quick. We used about £15 in 4 nights but we didn't cook at all.
Not having linen as lugging bed linen and making your own bed is a bit of a faf but it wasn't a show stopper and I get why the owner does it, it cuts cost and makes it a cheaper rental and I can't argue with that really.

The cottage was right in the centre of the village. It was very well equipped.
There was nothing we didn't like. The use of a coin fed electric meter was novel but easy to use.

Great location, cosy, everything you need nearby. good for crabbing and fishing with the kids, boat tours are excellecnt we saw dolphins :) beaches nearby are great.
no parking, but a good carpark nearby. lack of natural light downsairs makes it very cool and no garden but you can sit in the church across the road which is very nice. lots of dog hair, might want to avoid if you are laergic to pets.

Location is superb.
The mattress on the double bed needs replacing. It is far too soft for someone like me who has back and hip problems.

Absolutely perfect little cottage in a great location. So close to the harbour and the shops, restaurants and pubs. Very quiet street with not alot of people walking past which was great. The perfect base for exploring Cornwall too.
The cottage is great value for money and very clean and comfortable with everything you need for a great break. Would definitely recommend and I would also go back too. We had an amazing week there.

Location is perfect, very close to the harbour and numerous pubs, restaurants and lovely little shops. Kitchen was equipped with everything that we needed. Car park on the edge of the village was only a 2 minute walk away so no need to drive through the narrow streets to unload on arrival
Wifi would have been a nice added touch (and we would have been happy to pay extra for the week if it was included as I think this cottage is excellent value for money)

We had the most amazing time in this cottage - it is so cosy and cute with absolutely everything you could need. It is in a perfect location, just a couple of minutes' walk from Mevagissey harbour but nice and quiet away from the main crowded streets. We were so pleased with it and had the best holiday, would recommend to anybody.
