The lay out of the apartment is not a good as the other apartment the teviot. There was no washing machine but the staff solved my problem.

Location right in the centre so excellent, very clean , everything you needed for your stay including hairdryer and portable mirror in every room. Air conditioning unit in each room . Would definitely stay again.

Stairs are a little dangerous for small children especially as there isn’t a stair gate ( don’t think one would fit anyway ) but that’s just the old building and can’t be helped. Other than that it was an excellent stay.

We had a lovely time in Melrose and the flat being so central made it the perfect trip.

Right in the heart of Melrose. Lovely market town. Local shops were a treat. Bakers, coffee shops, hotels, gift shops, Co-op supermarket, carry out Thai, etc. There are 2 flats owned by the same company, accessed from a private close. The flat was very clean, well decorated, comfortable. Nice bedlinen. Bedrooms were small. The 2 attic bedrooms had sloping ceilings which didn't leave a lot of headroom. The lower bedroom had bunk beds; the bottom one didn't have a lot of headroom. We were 3 senior ladies, so one of us had the lower bunk. It would have been handy to have a spotlight to use for reading (forgot to bring a headtorch). If being used by a child, the upper bunk didn't have a guard rail. Overall the space of the flat suited us, but think a family with children would find it restrictive. The kitchen was well equipped, though again, space a bit tight for the chairs/table, but fine for 3 folk. No washing machine so okay for a short visit, as no laundry in Melrose that we could see. There was an air dryer, ironing board, iron in a cupboard. Think the (closed) cupboard in the kitchen might benefit from having the doors taken off? as the 2 bins could perhaps fit better at that space? As seniors we found the (deep) bath/ shower over was a bit awkward to use. We had asked for a rubber mat, and this had been provided, for safety. However, no grab rails on the bath or on the wall. A very nice gesture was the 2 bottles of wine, left on the kitchen table, along with the Welcome info. There was more information which we found in the living room, coffee table drawers. We felt 'at home' and as we were there to do walks, etc, we were out all of the 5 days we were there. The contact with Martyn was detailed and responsive re any further questions. Overall the price was reflective of the accommodation.

The illustration accompanying the Booking.com page was not actually where the flat is; it was showing the red sandstone flats/shops at Market Square. It would have been better to show the actual flat (across from The King's Arms Hotel) for anyone who doesn't know Melrose; as the main guide to the location is ' Hendersons' shop and the door alongside. we couldn't see any numbering on the street; although the door is clearly marked for the 2 flats, and local shop owners helped us to locate. We found the key box a wee bit tricky to operate. Fortunately, 1 of us had used a similar one before, and knew the 'knack' to open. We would have preferred a walk-in shower, rather than the shower over the bath. Martyn had indicated that there were possibly plans to have a shower installed when we made the booking, so perhaps this will be the case in the near future. For our purposes, we would have preferred a single bed, in lieu of the bunk beds; together with a reading light. But the pluses outweighed the slight negatives.

Perfect Property For A Stay In Melrose

Lovely apartment on the High Street opposite the King's Arms pub. Good bakery across the street and butchers about 100bmwtrra away. Spacious, very clean and well appointed, good WiFi and digital TV. Kitchen excellent, fully equipped with everything you might need. Entry instructions were excellent and host is responsive to messages should you need assistance.

There was nothing we didn't like, there are 2 semi spiral staircases which might be difficult for people with ambient disabilities, and low ceilings in the upper bedrooms might present a challenge for tall people, but we managed perfectly. We'd recommend this property without hesitation.

We cycled each day didn’t use the car just wonderful!

In the centre of Melrose, for cycling holiday, we were allowed to leave our bikes overnight in the close. The flat was tide suited us beware upper bedrooms have tight cam ceilings, didn’t bother us!

Position in town was excellent but had to park car in local car park, free, great!

I thought there was a double bed in small bedroom but it was a single the other room contained bunk beds so it wasn't ideal for 2 couples but the beds were extremely comfortable and good location so all ok for a few nights stay whilst walking in the area.

No after hours contact number. No instructions or information regarding heating rubbish etc, a rather useless welcome pack which was just printed info on other places to rent . The fridge didn’t work well and we only realised after a few days that it wasn’t when we realised our food / milk wasn’t cold. The house was warm except in the sitting room which was just ok if you kept the door open.But if you wanted to watch the TV and keep the sound down with the door shut the fake electric fire was really ineffective with a very noisy fan ! We had a disappointing arrival after a long journey to find it had not been cleaned or serviced .We had no after hours contact number.This was resolved and the bottle of wine was a kind gesture but considering we had booked it for a week was a very poor start. There were no fresh wrapped soaps / shampoo .The liquid soap dispenser in the bathroom was 1/3 full .A bit tacky and not good hand hygiene practice( Covid) we would have expected our own new soap. A pair of oven gloves needed.
