Nice place but needs better ventilation
Liked the neighborhood and the overall layout of the apartment. Staff was easy to join if needed. The location is really good, close to public transportation, groceries, pharmacy, cafes and restaurants. Walking distance from Montparnasse Tower, Montparnasse cemetery, catacombes. We arrived and it was clean and modern. Amenities (washer, dryer, dishwasher and bathrooms) were good appliances. No functionality issues. Coffee machine is a capsule thing and all groceries around the apartment have them in stock so that was nice. We appreciated having so many bakeries around and a few zero waste grocers and the farmers market on weekends. Bed mattress was comfortable, water pressure in shower and bath was great. Linen seemed clean on arrival.
The apartment has a ventilation problem. Consequently the humidity lingers and it smells bad. They have a small dehumidifier in the basement but it's not enough to tackle the problem. No air conditioning either. Opening the windows is the only way to vent the appartment but the shutters don't let enough air in. So it's a bit weird having the people on the street staring in at you in the appartment because it's on the ground floor. A solution would be to have trellises in the shutters instead of them being full metal sheets. The kitchen is well stocked but lacking a toaster or a cutting board. So we bought a cutting board and left it there. Your welcome 🤗 We found out that there were only duvets and duvets covers for the beds. No flat sheets, to us that was a bit weird. Pillows are on the small side and don't support your neck, we recommend bringing your own if possible. They provide bath towels but of the five provided one had huge holes in it and was in a pitiful state. The maintenance of this apartment is ok but they can improve. Vinyl flooring was detaching from the subfloor. The washing machine filter and the dishwasher filter had to be cleaned, they were smelling awful on arrival. We followed the instruction manuals provided by the owner and did a tub clean for the washing machine and a few empty cycles with the dishwasher to partially solve these issues. I really appreciated the amenities but I'm on vacation, I don't want to have to do the maintenance for them. During our stay we had a surprise visit from a rat exterminator?! We immediately contacted the office and they thought it was an attempt at burglary. We are doubtful, as the extermination company was proceeding to install rodent traps in the whole building.
