Le Jardin des Merveilles

Lovely, quirky place with a magnificent garden. Very kind staff. The breakfast is highly recommended

This is a unique homestay type experience. Guy is a wonderful host generously sharing his art filled home and stunning garden. Breakfast was an occasion in the yellow dining room. We also enjoyed picnic dinners in the blooming garden listening to the frogs and bird song. You could pretend you were staying with Monet! Other highlights included feeding the goats and watching the chickens annoy the hissing goose. We recommend hiring Guy's bikes to cycle through the lovely old village and into Vernon and Giverny. There is a cycle path that follows the River Seine. You cross the railway line at the roundabout...some other cyclists showed us the way as it wasn't clear. Vernon has an excellent Saturday morning market worth visiting. We stayed in the spacious family rooms in the attic.The separate bathroom and toilet are down a flight of stairs. These are shared with another room.

Note the house is old with bits added, so stairs creak, timber floors aren't level, and it is filled with Guy's collection of art, books and curios.There was a kettle in the room. I think other cottage style accommodation on site had a kitchen. It's communal style living with other friendly guests who appreciate the authentic charm of the house, garden and hospitality.

A wonderful experience. A really nice hotel with authentically decorated rooms, truly beautiful. A lovely garden to spend time in ! Very friendly and sociable hosts.

Room was spacious and host was friendly.

This accomidation was more like a home stay than a hotel. Bathroom was private but was not ensuite. Few challenges with locks and door handles for the room.
