Poor customer service but property was fine and in a good location

Location was great. Was easy checking in and accessing property.

We've used this property before and it was fine, but several issues this time. The property hadn't been cleaned very thoroughly: we remade the bed and we had to wash many of the cups, glasses and bowls before they could be used. In addition, we were given 2 shower towels but no hand towels, no bathroom mat, no tea towels for kitchen and no hand soap. We requested these (5pm Friday) but were told the cleaners had already finished for the day. We re-requested them on Saturday 2pm but were told there was no record of our previous call and that we'd probably missed the cleaners again. We were assured that the request was being logged this time, but got absolutely nothing the following day. Really disappointed in the service. Also, if you're staying in the winter bring warm clothes - the small electric panel heaters on the wall struggle to heat the large rooms.

Great location and for one night for the price was good enough

Location was excellent

Dusty floors and looked warn in areas. Apartment had a funny smell that didn’t make it feel cleans (drains smell coming up from shower and loo). The toilet kept running unless flush wiggled. Communal areas not the best with marks up the walls and dirty floors.

Don’t stay in Flat 7

I don’t know how this property is rated so highly but I would never stay here again. The bed slats broke just by my sitting on them and within 30 minutes of me arriving at the property and although this was acknowledged on the same day, and the property manager reached out to confirm they’d requested the maintenance team to look at it the next day, no one actually came to look at the bed for the duration of my stay (Sunday-Friday) so I was sleeping on a broken bed for my whole stay worried that it would break further. The room smelt of damp and very musty. Room wasn’t cleaned very well - very dusty No lighting at the entrance to the building. This is dangerous due to the very steep stairs leading down to the property, a very steep step into the building itself including a jutting step that is a serious trip hazard and there is no light making it difficult to see the keypad to enter, especially when it’s dark. Water pressure in the shower was bad, even though water pressure in bathroom and kitchen taps were absolutely fine and the water was very hot. The room was so cold. Even having followed the instructions provided it didn’t appear that any heat was being produced. A small space heater was in the room but even with that on the room wouldn’t heat above 19.5 degrees The toilet didn’t flush properly or rather didn’t stop flushing properly. So each time you had to wait a couple of seconds to press the flush again otherwise the cistern kept on emptying. The TV (or remote didn’t work properly). It would turn on but then would come up with an error and when I tried to use the arrow keys on the remote it wouldn’t work. Could just be a change of batteries needed but don’t understand in that case why the TV would turn on in the first place.

Good potential but disappointing costumer service.

Location and appliances offered by facilities were of very good standard. Bed was comfortable and bed linen and towels were clean and fresh. Not too noisy considering its central location, and very well served of amenities and transport links.

Communication with landlords was difficult and at times dismissive. I reported an electrical fault that was investigated and reported as resolved despite the light bulbs still flickering, and one of the lights being completely off. I also reported an issue with the shower hose, which had extreme leaking of water from its connection with the built-in unit making water pressure quite weak, and the response from the report was that it was not affecting the water pressure and they would try and fix it after my leaving date. Also, living room had no sofa or firm desk for laptop work and Wi-Fi was quite unstable.

Great location, lovely set up in the room. Good to have tea, coffee, milk etc. Very good communication from hosts.

Room 3 was spacious

Communal areas were unclean. That needs to be sorted out. Shower needs instructions to use as does the thermostat for heating. 10am check out way too early

Good location but terrible stinky dampness

The property was in a good location and the instructions were very thorough and clear. The decor was nice and very modern throughout and the bed was comfy.

Unfortunately, our enjoyment of the apartment was overridden by the overwhelming smell of damp upon entering every day. The rug in the living room had huge damp stains on it which stank and soaked my socks so I walked around in shoes after this. The wooden floor was wet under the rug too. I’m one for salvaging and not wasting but it needs taking to the skip. We left the windows open to air the flat out but it wasn’t the warmest of weekends for this. There were food stains on the front of the kitchen cupboards and hair and urine on the toilet. I’d expect a higher level of cleanliness for this price. There was also no sofa, just two chairs which was unusual.

The flat is not well-aired and has a persistent damp smell, predominantly from the bathroom. Some of the soft furnishings such as the rugs should be replaced as they are badly marked. All fixable.

Fine, but would not return.

The location and ease of check in was good. It was also pretty clean in the appartement itself when we arrived

There were several things that were odd about the apartment (like a single chair for two people, mirror light that buzzed and wouldn’t turn off, no drinking glasses, a leaking tap etc) that were flagged on check in but not actioned. Additionally the common areas were dirty/ wet and had rubbish in them the entire stay. Only one dryer in the laundry worked and there was cleaning equipment strewn about the place.

Dirty and dingy, no help from the management team

Nice decor and good location

I complained on arrival about the general dirty conditions in the apartment, the doors and gate were regularly left open, the kitchen tap didn't close off and was noisy, it was cold, nothing was clean, long synthetic hairs were on the floor and in the bathroom and stuck to walls, the outdoor patio was green and dirty, just generally bad - even the outside of the kettle was visibly dirty which I've never seen before anywhere. I was asked to wash up and take out the bins which clearly others had some before me and done badly as the plates were dirty and there was rubbish by the entry steps. I received a minimal response when I reached out, so having had to prompt them twice to even send the entry code when I arrived with no apology, I can definitely say this is the worst customer service I've received in many years. Id call for a refund but I'm sure I'd be ignored. Nice locations and nice decor but run down and absolutely had not been cleaned in some time aside from the bed being changed. Definitely do not book.

Really enjoyed my stay at Alma Apartments! Wish I had stayed longer.

Great location, spacious and comfortable. Great open plan living room/kitchen and huge bathroom! The freestanding bath was a lovely feature. Would definitely stay here again!

A little noisy hearing everyone in the halls at times, but that said, it shows how quiet it is the majority of the time! Batteries in the tv remote were dead and couldn't then get Netflix on, so an upgrade there might be nice. Kettle was grim so had to boil water in a pan, and a couple of pans needed replacing. But all to be expected with most rentals like this.

Location which is strategic for my needs

Was staying in the Safe and there used to be an outdoor patio which is well kept. Enjoyed sitting outside with my coffee in the mornings. Now it is strewn with rubbish and dirty. The mattress is also due for change

Lovely area, great apartment, mediocre bed.

Clifton Downs is a lovely part of Bristol. The bathroom is spacious and great, as is the living room. Essential shops are in spitting distance and it's merely minutes from the train station. The staff were very corporate but straightforward and quick to respond.

The bedroom wasn't great. The mattress was uncomfortable, the frame was noisy and the room got very warm in the summer. I would highly recommend getting hold of a fan as there's no air conditioning.

Great location, the flat was nice and decently sized.

The location of the property was amazing

The security doors to the property were never locked, always open meaning anyone could access the main building. The lockbox to access the keys and put them back was faulty and meant I had trouble putting my keys back at checkout. There was a very bad smell coming from the drains in the bathroom, whenever you use any water the smell is horrific. The bathroom sink was also blocked and would take a very long time to drain. The windows were not locked when I arrived and I had trouble locking them. The bins in the room smelled bad upon arrival.

Disappointing

The central location

It was impossible to find, the address listed took us to 85 Alma road, this was not Alma apartments. The post code listed also took us elsewhere. The entrance to the property is a big metal gate with the appearance of a bin area to a commercial back door. There is no number and no sign to indicate that it is Alma apartments. There are no clear instructions. A big black metal gate down the side of Gail’s bakery is all the info required to make it clear where to find it. We searched from 10.30 until 1am and it was only by chance when a couple where coming out of the gate and we were able to ask them that they confirmed the location. When we got through the gate it was filthy, on entering the building it was clear that the communal areas hadn’t seen a vacuum or a mop for some time. Flat 4 smelt of damp rags. The sink in the shower room had a stopper in the sink that was Jammed shut so the sink didn’t drain. The damp fragrance throughout never went despite us opening windows. Flat 3 had the gift of a loo that hadn’t been cleaned or even flushed. There was a large sitting room/kitchen but no sofa, a strange arrangement of stained furniture and a glass table that was filthy. These apartments are not places that you would wish to spend any time in so it’s a good thing that there are plenty of places to go to nearby.

Basic, functional, ok.

The property is in a fabulous location, and looks beautiful on the pictures. The rooms are large and functional.

There was a studenty vibe, though everything needed was there, it’s all the most basic and lacking a bit of tlc. So many stairs, beat that in mind if you’ve got heavy bags! Only one key per room, plus the invert of being charged for getting locked out/losing key was a slight downside. As was the deposit that is charged per room, not per booking - if you’re doing a group booking, better have a credit card ready!

Filthy entrance to apartment. Rubbish and cigarette ends littered entrance. Hallway and stairs dirty. Artificial plants in apartment had thick dust on them. Dirty dish with remnants of cooked food left in dirty microwave. Cutlery and hob could have been cleaner. Very disappointing. Mattress on bed extremely soft. Tra stained mugs.

- The location - The kitchen had several tools for cooking but the pans were scratched and old

1. Cold: 18 degrees of heating; I had to call and ask twice to get 20 degrees. 2. The carpet is stained, and the walls are also stained. 3. Pans scratched, which is unhealthy and even dangerous to cook. I had to buy my own pan. 4. The pans were not super clean, but I did not use them because they were scratched.

Spacious and clean.

Shower didn't work. Obscure switching system instructions several hours after leaving really not adequate or helpful. Volume of email traffic ridiculous. 30+ emails for one night stay! Overcomplicated instructions for convoluted entrance procedure. Would not stay again.

Enjoyable, spacious but needs a new bed!

Super spacious, modern & clean apartment!

The bed was so uncomfortable, there was a spring sticking out the mattress & it squeaked and creaked with every movement. It was a shame given everything else was lovely. Also I thought given the size and standard of the apartment too it was odd the bed wasn't king sized too.

Apartment centrally located close to shops and restaurants

Apartment had a damp smell (particularly bathroom) and lack of a sofa, although it was beautifully furnished. My bug bear was the lock box - that just might be me as I have carpal tunnel syndrome, but I broke 2 nails trying to get it open!
