About this house rental

Gaze over the crystal blue ocean of the Mendocino coastline accented by sparkling "diamonds on the water," right from the porch of our fully remodeled, historic, two-story, Victorian-style home.

With all modern amenities, this historic home was one of the original homes during the booming logging era in Mendocino County. Located in quaint Little River, CA., this 2 bedroom, 2 bath home mixes Victorian nostalgia with all-modern amenities. Maximum capacity is 4 persons. Not suitable for children under 12 years or infants. No events or gatherings that would exceed the 4 person maximum, please, and no pets. For your security and the security of our home, we have 2 exterior security cams at both entry points covering property.

We are surrounded by Van Damme State Park on 3 sides. We have total access to beach trails including a short path that leads to a secluded cove on Van Damme Bay, the Spring Ranch trail so you can take a quick walk to see the white-water of the surf crashing against the rocks, and other amazing hiking trails. You might even spot a pod of whales. If you have ever wished for an enchanted getaway, this is it.

Shop and dine in charming Mendocino, Albion, Fort Bragg, or right here in Little River. Golf, explore and enjoy. You have found a hidden gem.

We did not actually make it to the house. Tried twice but flights cancelled both times. Bonnie, the hostess, worked with us every step of the way and helped ease the pain of a trip that fell apart so badly.

This property is a gem! It was so clean and comfortable. When we were not out and about, we were sitting looking out on the beautiful view. It is very near Mendocino where you will find great restaurants and shops. It is also close to so many State Parks and overlooks to explore. I highly recommend it.

This place is great. Its quiet, directly across the street from a path down to the ocean. The cove is a hidden gem. The house is clean and VERY well labeled. Everything worked and was in good condition. A 5 minute drive gets you to the village in Mendocino, 15 mins to get to Ft. Bragg. A great location, wonderful view, and very relaxing.

A friend and I stayed for a weekend, and found the house to be not only beautiful, but warm and inviting. Do pay heed to the "before you go" note, and bring slippers. The wood floors (and stairs!) can be slick in just socks. The trailhead to the beach is easy to find, and fairly accessible. Communicating with Bonnie was super easy, and she responded quickly every time. If you need a nice spot to get away for a while, this is it!

Everything about our stay was wonderful. We would love to come back. The house is kept in a charming but unpretentious way. There is a short trail right next door to a private cove that proved to be a beautiful place to relax for a couple of hours. Bonnie is an ideal host — friendly and communicative. Little River is quite close to Mendocino but far enough away to feel remote. We just had a blast. Thank you!

It would be hard to rate anything poorly with a view like this home has. However, you won’t find any complaints with the property either. The home has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing and wonderful stay. The home was likely the cleanest VRBO we’ve stayed. Waking up to the ocean view from the primary bedroom was amazing. Sitting outside and hearing the roar of the ocean can’t be beat. There’s also several trails right at the property that lead to closer water views. I’d definitely recommend this residence.

We loved the house! Upon entering, the first thing that came to my mind was "WOW, what a steal!" Picturesque views and the proximity to town made our vacation so enjoyable! Loved the little path down to the beach, definitely wish we had done that more. Just a few downsides though. The bed wasn't that comfortable for us, but that's just a preference for a firmer bed. Also the "paperwork" was a bit much and a little annoying. Other than that, we had a very good time and highly recommend this place.

Bonnie was an awesome host! Some paperwork to review, but as respectful guests, we appreciate her attention to detail. Bonnie also gave us a last minute update on a potential issue that was resolved and gave us a late check out in return. So kind! Ideal location. Basically 5 or so minutes to Mendo Village, Little River Inn, The Ledford House and Catch-A -Canoe and anything you need. The 100 + year house is restored to perfection. Kitchen and front porch are ideal. Top floor bedroom, bathroom and bedroom deck have epic views of Van Damme beach with trail to beach across the road. Only downers are the private gated community fence next door that can be loud with in and out traffic and folks parking randomly trying to find the beach trail. Otherwise, a beautiful home that is centrally located minutes from Mendo Village without the cluster eff. Thank you, Bonnie! Kind regards from Chris and Steph

We had a great time in Little River. It is close to Mendocino and Fort Bragg. We went to Point Arena lighthouse,Point Cabrillo lighthouse, Glass beach, Pudding Creek Trestle, Bodega, Goat Rock beach, the Sea Ranch Chapel, and Stinson Beach. We enjoyed the wonderful views from the gorgeous house. We saw a doe and her fawn right on the property. We also saw two little gray fox near the driveway. Thanks for sharing your home Bonnie!

This property is situated on a quiet street with views of the from the kitchen and upstairs bedroom. The house was well furnished and the kitchen fully equipped. The host had given us very detailed instructions and also information on the area and things to do. Mendocino was a short drive from the property and is a very lovely, quaint town. The drive to Anderson Valley was breathtaking, if not a little unnerving navigating the many curves. But well worth the trip. Many trails to hike through redwoods or to the coastline.

We couldn’t have chosen a better location for our six night stay. Loved the views from the front windows and main bedroom. Very very clean and all the furniture was comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed. Beds are so comfortable. Bathroom was wonderful – very spacious and plenty of space for all of our stuff. Washer and dryer are great to have in the house. Nice to be able to take a quick walk down to the beach and view the different tide levels. Very short drive into Mendocino, and to many of the local parks. Very quiet location. Fantastic stay. Bonnie is an exceptionally responsive host, reaching out to make sure all was well with our check-in and stay. The house location is convenient to visiting the Mendocino area, in a quiet lane off of Hwy 1. Exceptionally well-stocked and very clean. Perfect for a small family with older children. The two bedrooms are upstairs with comfortable bedding. The listing is accurate: the bedrooms are up some steep stairs and are not accessible for mobility-impaired. A note to know: This house has a very quick and efficient heating system, and also relies on a pump/instant hot water system. If the power goes out, there is very quickly no hot water and soon thereafter no water at all. We were there during a stormy span of days in March, and we lost power twice. Not something our exceptionally responsive host could have done anything about, and we still enjoyed our stay at this house thoroughly. Just something to know if you are there in unsettled weather when PG&E service may fluctuate. The house has a big battery powered lantern for just such events, so easy to work-around the situation.
