Montrose Watertower

This is an exceptional property, offering an excellent base for staying in Montrose and visiting nearby towns and villages. You occupy the top two levels of the tower (Penthouse) and have roof access. The middle and ground levels are occupied by permanent tenants and the host himself, who is generally always on hand, but as this is a vast building, you feel fully isolated. You have 24hr separate access to the penthouse and car park. The penthouse is very well furnished and fitted with impressively large kitchen hob and pots and pans, everything you need for your own cooking, which I enjoyed every day of my stay. The fridge is well stocked, there is plenty of bed linen and towels. I enjoyed a whole week of fully self-sufficient residence. I made friends with the host who was happy to give me a lift to nearby locations, including a fishing village where I bought fresh fish. The host has lived in Scotland for half a century and has inexhaustible knowledge of local attractions, shops, people and places - and whiskey. He has a huge collection of whiskey, which is generously shared with the guests. The beach and everything else in Montrose was within comfortable walking distance. I have fallen in love with this part of Scotland and will come again.

Location was perfectly placed with shops within walking distance and walks over the golf course to the beach and a bird hide on the Basin. Absolutely everything you could want for breakfast already waiting in the large fridge and some in the freezer. Dag is a really interesting and nice guy with a good history, a man's man with his hobbies and toys! AND such generosity. The property is very querky and has been converted to maximise the space and surrounding views. Some reviews mention the stairs? (what would you expect from a 3nd & 4th floor in a water tower for goodness sake)! There is of course the optional outside lift ;-)

A lot of stairs? 😆 Also noisy in the living area when windy.

We had a great stay in the WaterTower , Dag made sure we had everything we needed. It was also really good to have such a secure outside space for our dogs. We highly recommend this as your base for a visit to Angus
