Fantastic home away from home .
Excellent location spacious , clean and all round fantastic home away from home for our family including our dog . The owner was also lovely too. We can’t wait to return again soon , would highly recommend .

A perfect retreat to relax and reboot.
The Smokehouse is a literal home away from home. Warm, inviting, everything says relax. The big downy sofa is wonderful, as is the deck looking out to the ocean just metres away. The pedestal fan was most welcome.
The bed linen and pillows could be of higher quality. I get hot during the night so have a preference for natural fibres. Cotton, wool or down doonas would make a big difference.

We had the most relaxing weekend for my husband’s 65th birthday
It was unusual, the living room is on the first floor with lovely views of the sea. It was cosy, loads of space, a wood burning stove and loads of reading material and board games

A perfect weekend short stay. We were spoiled with great weather, but will definitely return to The Smokehouse & Joh
Delightful, well equipped house in a fantastic location right by the harbour. The host, Eileen, was just lovely and had thoughtfully provided some groceries which was a lovely surprise. Would highly recommend.

We love johnshaven and the smokehouse did not disappoint

Older cottage in good coastal location
The location was good and quiet, near the waterfront with easy parking. Easy drive to Stonehaven or Aberdeen. Not far from Donnatar Castle! Plenty of room, fans were provided, and the owner was easy to reach.
The layout is a bit quirky with the kitchen below the living area.

Perfect location in village, within a few minutes walking distance of local pub, cafe, shop and coastal path walks. Lovely host who lives in same yard but your privacy well respected. Very well equipped and clean property.
