Life saving relaxation holiday.

Everything has been perfect. From the welcome to the goodbye. Sneaky yummy goodies was a beautiful touch. The hot tub used daily. The gym looked amazing alas against our religion on holiday and throughout New Year celebrations. Communal sauna over looking the pond so wonderful. Our dog had his fun everyday taking a dip in the pond. The walks around the property have been breathtaking distraction for the husband, the dog was very happy. Everything you require for your stay is in the property. We’ve re booked again for another property that the owner has near by, as her attention to detail is exceptional . You won’t be disappointed .

A really enjoyable few days at this property

Marcella was a great host and met us upon arrival. The location is great and the accommodation, grounds & facilities are of a high standard. We really had an enjoyable stay.

The odour from the poultry unit at times was intense so the doors and windows needed to be closed. The additional costs for the hot tub were not highlighted until after the property was booked.

Excellent stay at the stables. Marcella brilliant host. Super facilities in a lovely location. High points were the hot tub, sauna, gardens, gym and of course the table tennis table!

A fabulous stay .

The facilities were excellent. The kids loved the hot tub and table tennis. The grounds were immaculately kept . The welcome pack was a pleasant surprise and there was everything you needed in the property. Marcella was very helpful and friendly.

Nothing except maybe some bbq tongs would have been useful.

Super comfy and well provisioned holiday accommodation

Very well appointed accommodation with a lovely welcome basket. Lots of facilities (gym, hot tub, sauna), although there is so much to see and do in the surrounding area we didn't actually get to use them!

The only issue we had was the lamps were quite low and the couple of people in our family over 6 foot 2 did frequently bang heads on them - but that was it really! A great place to stay.

Superb

Accommodation was well appointed and spotless - loved the hot tub with it's permanent rain canopy that can be opened to view clear skies. Lots of additional hospitality touches .... tea, coffee, coffee pods, biscuits, cereal, milk in the fridge made us all feel very welcome. Great location for local nature attractions and accessing the beautiful Solway shoreline.

Not disability friendly

This property is not accessible for disabled people. My wife could not use her wheelchair as it’s too narrow. The bathroom created big issues. A big step into the shower. She had to be lifted in and as there were no grab rails it was very difficult to get washed. After a few scary moments she gave up trying and had to try to balance on her frame at the sink to get washed. We only used the hot tub twice because of this issue. You have to bathe before and after which was just too difficult. She had brought a zimmer frame to get around inside but the size of the bathroom meant she could not manoeuvre easily around and it took up a lot of her energy. We don’t know why this was listed as having disabled facilities. There must be a clear understanding of people’s needs and basic ones such as bathing daily are essential. Thankfully she put up with it for the three days we spent there. Had we been longer it would have become impossible. The cottage is perfect for able bodied visitors. It’s clean, comfortable and pretty, the breakfast items were a nice touch. The gardens are beautiful. It’s a shame we won’t be returning

The property was listed as suitable for disabled. That’s the only reason we chose it. It is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The bathroom door opens in a way that if you are on a walking frame you get trapped inside, there are no rails to steady yourself anywhere in the bathroom, it’s dangerous for those who need aids to get around and stabilise

Excellent property

Excellent quality furnishings and accessories. Hot tub and sauna available. Good location for touring area. Extras left by hosts useful and appreciated (tea, coffee, sugar, milk cereals, biscuits and chocolates). Would stay again if visiting the area. Recommend.

The Stables - you won't regret it!

The Stables was fantastic, the attention to detail, for instance a bowl of water waiting for our dog. A video of a roaring fire to welcome us, along with goodies to munch with a cuppa. Marcella fired up the hot tub, which we were unable to use as weather too wet! Underfloor heating very nice!!! The location was stunning we hope to return when warmer/drier so we can walk round the lake and use the sauna!

Pre big birthday weekend

Beautifully presented cottage with everything you would need for a perfect stay. Great beds and nice warm shower. The added extras ( cakes breakfast items , biscuits and sweets)was a lovely touch.

Took me a wee while to suss how the heating worked but all good in the end.

Lovely rural location on a working farm, but not far from a good sized town to get groceries etc. Lovely property, clean and comfortable. Good hot tub and new sauna available to use in the garden area

The facilities, location and friendly helpful host. The outdoor areas and hot tub were great also. I don't think the pictures of the accommodation on the website do it justice. I only noticed there was a hot tub after I booked when looking at other reviews!

We had a great holiday here, with lots of places to visit in the nearby hinterland.

The bedrooms were very comfortable. Walk in shower a plus. The owner had left a fan on as the weather was very hot- in the evening you could open the front & back door and get cooler air. The Stables was well appointed with everything you might need for a self catering holiday. Marcella was an excellent host, and she left a goodie box & small milk on arrival. I loved going out at midnight and looking at the amazing night sky. Red kites fly nearby, as close to a Red Kite Feeding station. My sister loved the trips to nearby small towns- Kirkcudbright especially. Ate in a Greek restaurant in Castle Douglas one evening- well worth a visit.

Forgot that the table to eat was on high stools- which didn't suit my sister- OK for younger guests! We didn't use the hot tub- I had read it was overlooked by the other holiday let and didn't bring a costume.

Very enjoyable - loved our short break here

The whole family (partner, 3 & 10 year old) enjoyed our stay here at the Stables. It's a lovely, well-appointed place in a great location for exploring what the region has to offer. It exceeded our expectation particularly in that we didn't know it had an outdoor hot tub when we booked! Don't know if that will always be a fixture but it was superb for a little bit of relaxation after a long day of activities. The welcome basket of food was an extremely nice touch. The host (Marcella) made us feel very welcome and gave lots of great advice on the surrounding area. It's also great that while it's still a working farm (bear that in mind), outdoor space has been given over to a lovely playpark/grass and pond for use by guests. Would definitely stay here again.

It would be good if the living room window was fully working - the faulty mechanism (which is noted on arrival) made us a bit nervous using it.

A great place to stay.

Cosy cottage, spotlessly clean , with comfy beds and quiet too. Nice play area for the kids and somewhere to walk the dog. Everything you need including a hot tub and various sitting out areas. Highly recommended.
